I was the drummer for jegsy dodd and the sons of harry cross, and we supported these guys on tour.I was always in the crowd when they took to the stage, fuckin great days.
Discovered this *years* before I had access to internet or English football in South Carolina. Heard them on Peel's show on the World Service, and found it at a funky local indy record shop. Remember pestering an exchange student from Liverpool crapless translating it ;-) Now that 87% of my leisure time revolves around following a bunch of lads bashing a ball about a hectacre of England's green and pleasant, it's *still* brilliant... COYB...
I heard this in a 2nd hand record store in Norwich cos my mate wanted to hear it & the store owner picked the wrong side (he wanted to hear Trumpton Riots).I was almost choking with laughing & said to my pal I'd buy if he wasn't bothered (I still own some Scalextric &a load of Subbuteo)
I suffered scaletrix angst issues , the transformer was a hit and miss and it cost a lot in relation to the rest of the setup ... also spending hours pushing the control button thing and changing the cars tracks to see if your car went faster on the left or right ....
think i discovered this band off the back of this performance and went out and bought the trumpton riots 12" ep from hmv in sutton. just love the sentiment
I remember Subbuteo (then under 'Waddingtons', wanted to aline &/£ cash-in on this song - well, as part of their 'marketing', but they understood a bit more of its meaning, and weren't so keen!) - allegedly.
Student humour?? Do students actually know anything about this band? Don't insult one of the best bands ever, they've been around a long time and deserve respect.
Dukla recovered from the bankrupt..is playing a second czech league and they sell those t-shirts right here dukla.bigsport.leris.cz/fotbalovy-klub-dukla-praha.html
Not really a song about footy for me. More the unrequited frustration of 70s childhood toys. Scalextric and Subbuteto, always broke. Most of my players were glued to the base by UHU. And has anybody ever played Monopoly to a proper completion ?
The Viz of bands. Fucking magic.

One of the most under-rated bands ever!!!

Quirky, head noddingly unique, unusually brilliant!!!
Memories... 1st November 1978 , Dukla Prague vs Everton :)
Magic - haven't heard it for years - I'm so old
I suffered scaletrix angst issues , the transformer was a hit and miss and it cost a lot in relation to the rest of the setup ... also spending hours pushing the control button thing and changing the cars tracks to see if your car went faster on the left or right ....
Great song and group half man half biscuit class
22 years on, and scalextric still takes forever to set up, and subbuteo is still better than all the crappy ones you can by now XD
Love the his got a Ajax kit on... well looks like an Ajax shirt
Are we sure it isn't in fact Dukla Prague away?
@@SuperTrentsteel definitely a late 1970s Ajax shirt.
Dukla's change kit is yellow with a maroon trim (like Motherwell in Scotland)
It's not Tranmere?
Maybe not!
Fantastic...
HMHB class act
Getting played a lot on 6music this year. 😀

This was the first "Road Trip" band I ever saw. It was in Cheltenham. Was hooked after that

I remember Subbuteo (then under 'Waddingtons', wanted to aline &/£ cash-in on this song - well, as part of their 'marketing', but they understood a bit more of its meaning, and weren't so keen!) - allegedly.
Dickie's eyes are closed forever RIP
This would be good for a Crimbo No.1 next year!!!!
After 5 mins you were down to 10 men....fucking brilliant
merry christmas to all halfmen fans
and a shit hot new year
I don't think it is student humour. I think it's quite working class. Nigel Blackwell is far from a student type.

@@notlob23 I'm a student and i like this band. All my student mates think HMHB are shit though.

The only dodgy transformers nowadays come from Michael Bay.
LOVE IT !!!
@rgbg66 They're on their way up to Gambrinus Liga.
@Perokneznik Sadly only people from Czech Republic and Slovakia can get one. I like the look of them myself.
Shame it missed the AAAGGGHHHH! off the end. Great song though, thanks for uploading. Love 'em.
