I made this tonight but substituted 3 fresh sliced pears for the pineapple. (Almost any fruit would be yummy.) It's the best upside-down cake recipe ever. Using oil instead of butter in the batter really makes a difference. I also tossed some pecans on top of the pears because my family likes a little crunch in their desserts. BTW, if you don't have buttermilk on hand you can make your own by stirring in about a tablespoon of lemon juice per 1 cup milk. Let it sit for about 10 minutes and you have buttermilk.
Pineapple upside down cake has been one of my favorite cake since childhood. Since it's my birthday today, I baked this cake and treated myself with a wonderful dessert. Thank you Anna for this simple but delicious recipe. Looking forward to try and bake more cakes from your recipe book. Stay safe and stay healthy... always. ✌❤🙏👏
My Dad grew up in the 1930's and 1940's and this was his favorite cake. My grandmother used to make this cake in an old black cast iron pan and she taught me how to make the cake. I am wondering why there isn't a cherry in the middle of each pineapple ring as this was everyone's favorite part of the cake?
Excellent presentation. Today I made one and used sour cream as an egg substitute along with gluten free flour. Mmmmm, mmm! So easy to make and so delicious.
I made this twice now so far it amazing.... Instead vegetable oil I used coconut lemon infused "oil... It's really delicious 😋 I luv this 🎂 ty for the recipe
I love the simplicity and ease of what you've done here. Looks very tasty. I could do without the coconut though. That would be my only tweak. Other than that, thanks for this. Think I'll make this tonight
What a nice way to make pineapple upside down cake. I like the fact that you used fresh pineapple instead of canned. I also like that you added coconut to the cake batter. Actually if you put a little rum flavoring or even rum itself in the cake batter or the caramel sauce, you could call it a piña colada upside down cake! My husband is requesting one of his favorites cakes so I think I will try your recipe. Thank you very much.
I made this last night with a pineapple that was looking a little too ripe. 🤣 I blended a few pieces of pineapple down then added sugar & cooked on stove on med/low for bout 30 min. it till it made a thick sauces. When I flipped the cake I poured it over it. This dessert was amazing. Served it with vanilla ice cream. The cast iron I didn't think would work so well- but surprise. Everyone loved it- a real keeper! Thank you for this one.
This has become a go to recipe and so easy to change up, I've already done an apple and cinnamon variation and just this morning I did a chocolate banana variation...simply swapped the pineapple for banana and the coconut for cocoa
hola señora Anna me encanta su programa no me lo pierdo y sus recetas fabulosas se entienden muy bien es usted una gran chef la felicito edpero nos siga cultivando de sus conocimientos gracias
Hi, Anna! I made this dessert for our Easter dinner. It was my first attempt to bake an upsidedown cake. Sooooo delish and yet oh so simple to make! Was a huge hit!Thank you for the techniques, tips and recipes!
Hi dear wonderful blessed love to show us the pineapple 🍍💕 cake I tried it was so good 😋 you are blessed once again thank you so much 💝 have a blessed day from Bombay.
Hola Anna eres tu!!!!!!! mana demasiado genial tus videos las recetas y super espectacular tus explicaciones. Muchisimas gracias por regalarnos tus conocimientos
This looks amazing. In Germany we only know this cake from American Sitcoms like Desperate Housewives, you can also find this on Baking Websites, but it is not often done here. So I was watching your video and I am impressed be the easy way it is made and it looks so delicious 😋 Thanks for the video, Mrs van de Kamp 😇
I would've never thought of the lemon juice juice or the ladle! Great to know. Thank you. One of my favorite cakes to eat but I've been baking it for 20+ years and it never, not once, has turned out as good as my mothers and I'm not being picky. I have hopes for this recipe, though. 👍🏼
Butter 🧡 Dark brown sugar 🌞 Lemon juice 😇 Pineapple 💝 175 ml buttermilk 🏄 175 ml oil 💔 Eggs 🌴 Vanilla extract 🥃 All purpose flour 💖 Sugar 💤 Baking powder 🦶 Baking soda 💢 Salt 🦗 Grated nutmeg 🌈 Sweetened coconut 👉 Bake the cake for about 30-35 minutes 🪳 Flip the cake over 🏊
Just tasted the cake! Another success from oh yum...... I replaced the pineapple with half clémentines, (with Covid, we can’t go out much....) we had it warm, and now it’s cooled down, I just tasted a tiny weenie big bit again.....how lovely..... 😋 when we have another bit later, I will make a cognac syrup to go with it! ( being french).....
I tried this but used coconut oil instead of vegetable oil, coconut sugar instead of brown sugar and raw sugar instead of white sugar. It was so delicious. Thanks!
Love your kitchen! Gonna try this recipe, but it'll be a debate with the grandbabies, if they'll want the coconut. I've never had it in P.A. Upside Down Cake recipes I've used.
lovely video thanks so much its wonderful recipe surely Im going to try it your recipes are very clear I lke the way you teach you are a Good Teacher .
Wow! Do you sell them on your own or for a shop, if you don't mind me asking? I'm just curious. I've always had a fantasy of baking and selling desserts. That sounds silly because that's what bake shops do but I've never been to a bakery that sold anything really, really good. I'm sure it's more economical to use the same base for a lot of different desserts or something like that.
@@tamaramorton8812 I sell them my self baking out of my kitchen☺ i wish i could show u a pic of it. They're really big 9"x 5" & BEAUTIFUL! Tamara girl if u hv a dream of doing it DO IT!💕
Looks good! This is my hubby's favorite and I'm making it for his birthday. Just wondering, would I double all of the ingredients if I'm using a 12" cast iron pan and want a taller cake?
I made this for the first time today and let me tell you something. I don't like eating pineapple by itself, it makes my throat scratchy but this cake is the best fruit cake I've ever had. The pineapple was juicy and sweet, the caramel😍 omg, and the cake itself was soft, fluffy and delicious. I like pineapple on pizza, if you like pineapple on pizza, you'll LOVE pineapple on cake. Man, this recipe was quite easy to follow as a first timer. If you're still thinking about making it, just do it... Do it now. Tomorrow morning I'm definitely going to the supermarket to buy more pineapples. Enjoy your upside down pineapple cake😘
Try adding a generous amount of lemon zest to the batter and you will never go back.. I always make this cake and I if I don't have lemons, I won't make it.. the zest will diminish the sweetness of the crust and goes well with the taste of pinapples
My daughter-in-law is gluten free and she cannot eat chicken eggs, but she can eat duck eggs so I made a gluten-free pineapple upside down cake with your recipe and instead of using buttermilk I used full fat coconut milk, omitted the oil and I used a dairy, free, gluten, free, margarine and rice flour. It turned out beautifully.
Brava che usi tenere tutti gli ingredienti nei barattoli e bottiglie di vetro. Uhm dev'essere proprio buono il tuo dolce, da provare! Complimenti davvero!
I usually watch videos with no sound to avoid unnecessary chatter. But you talk about all the right and necessary things. Awesome channel!❤️

Cherries & toasted pecan halves anywhere you can crowd them! 😋
Your recipes are just so out of the world and so easy to put together...simply delicious
Beautiful sieve just like the old fashioned that my grandmother used to sieve the corn and wheat flowers to make bread. ❤
Ive made this several times -- with just cherries and black raspberries (big hit at block party), and also with strawberry and blueberry. It's great!
Excellent presentation.
Today I made one and used sour cream as an egg substitute along with gluten free flour. Mmmmm, mmm!

I made this and added some raisins. It was a hit and my brother wants one for his birthday. Thanks a lot for this amazing recipe.
the skills you have is unbelievable
Wow! I never thought of making it in a frying pan! It's just wonderful! Now I won't be buying a cake tin! Thanks for your video!
This is an old way of baking cakes & cornbreads (biscuits too I think) from colonial times. Probably before then.

Yummy do simple to prepare the ingredients
Try adding a generous amount of lemon zest to the batter and you will never go back.. I always make this cake and I if I don't have lemons, I won't make it.. the zest will diminish the sweetness of the crust and goes well with the taste of pinapples
suha Khaled how much lemon zest should I put in
Thank you! Love lemon
Good tip. I like to add a little lemon or orange zest to cake batter. I don't know how much difference it makes but doing so makes me happy.
@@aishak1199 One small lemon should do it. I wouldn't add more than a teaspoon or so of zest for a cake this size.
