I grew up in Western WY, and this video really makes me miss home. I joined the Marine Corps back in 2000, haven't lived in Gods country since. I am proud to have grown up there - I spent a lot of time in the mountains - antler hunting and hunting. I've lived a lot of places - From California to currently Louisiana - nothing compares to Western WY. God Bless!! Oh - and the footage is great - some good looking bucks on there.
An awesome video showing some truly incredible mule deer bucks!! Excellent work!! Thanks for the entertainment!! Not every video has to result in dead deer!!!
Superb footage of some real "beef-a-roni" bucks in gorgeous, natural settings. Very well done. My two favorites were at 2:30 and 3:20. The buck at 3:20 would have run away with top honors if he didn't have the extra point on his back left fork. I love those huge, clean, typicals. Thanks
Thank you for some really beautiful footage of these big old boys. I love shooting them, but it's also just as good to see the natural footage of them in their environment just doing what comes natural. Great job of filming these guys. Keep it up!
I'm so glad I watched this "boring" video!! That is meant to be facetious! I haven't watched a better video lately. The mule deer in this are fantastic! I am going to the wintering grounds near my home this weekend to try and get some footage and know I won't get anything near as good! Thoroughly enjoyed it as not every wildlife video need be about the final shot! Oh and the wildlife biology/game management advice? You boys must work for or need to join the Fish & Game Branch!! We need you there
Good Lord these are some really big bucks. Muleys do that to you. Heart fibulations and raised pulse rate and breaking out in a cold sweat and shakes and overall terminal nervousness and everything else. I've hunted muleys all my life and still they make me 'all of the above'!!!!!!!!!! The good Lord sure knew what he was doing when He created them. (I,'m glad He did!) Marvelous!!!!!!
You haven’t done any videos in awhile. I would love to see some more Winter range mule deer vids. Your work is amazing, please rekindle your fire and post some more.
I just moved from Wyoming where I lived for 3 years. You can expect steady winds and chilly temps (sometimes negative wind chills). You'll definitely need some windproof clothes. Also, be prepared for deep snow drifts, depending on what part of the state your in.
:01 to :12 and :35 to :45, couple of real hogs!!!!!! Wow, thanks for sharing!!!!! We used to have a few like that around here in NW Montana before the wolves started eating all the does. Now mulies are hard to find. Saddens me......
First let me say these are really nice bucks and thank you for the video. Second, let me ask what role predators have played in the decline in the herd in Western Wyoming? My family has a ranch in Central New Mexico and we have see a big decline in Mule Deer in the last 15 years. Yes, hunting pressure plays a part, but we have also seen more coyotes and more lion sign. The latter has been supported by more attacks on domestic cattle; all calves. (We occasionaly hunt the yotes for management.)
Hey, this is one of my all-time favorites. I have it on my "mule deer" playlist and must have watched it 75 times! It's just a superb video. Where is this taken, I mean which state? (No Specifics) Anywho, a pleasure to watch...
what time of year was this? The racks are nice but the feed looks scarce and the bodies of the bucks look pretty rough and thin. Wonder how many of these made it through the winter especially with wyomings fierce spring storms this year.
@trapperjeremy Keep up the good work son. It's your generation that is going to be the legacy of keeping hunting as a sport and way of life for not only your generation, but future generations as well. Learn all that you can about the outdoors and the finer art of hunting, tracking and caring for the game that you harvest. It is something to be respected. God gave it to us to use and take care of. Listen to what your dad teaches you. I applaude you dad for teaching you to hunt. Respect it.!
really this is in WY? i didnt know that there was such huge bucks there i live in SD we have big ones some as big but most of them arnet as big as the ones with drop tines and stuff.i mean we probably have some like that but not that ive seen except for the 25 pointer in my house. good job! : ^)
the herds in ca are just fine where i live. the habitat is over grown cause we put out every fire..thick manzanita.pines.. loud and dry..i spook over 100 deer a year and always harvest..every year.
The buck at 3:18 to end gets my vote for most impressive typical, despite the extra tine in his left back fork. The bucks at 0:17- 0:44 make it a tough choice though.
i agree with you to a point and respect the mule deer more than any other deer, but I am still a hunter and there is something that make me love it and I will never regret it, but I always think of how hard it would be to kill a large magnificent mulie like the ones in this video where I hunt in Washington, the mulies are declining thanks to overgrowing whitetail population around Spokane , I have always wanted to see the big one in my home state but every year that gets harder
my father has been hunting the same area since the 70s and i've been hunting it since 2004 north west of Gillette. Long gone are the days you see deer like this on that BLM land. It is a huge section, but the large hunting pressure and the methane pushed a majority of these deer onto the land only a very select few "$" can hunt. I'd rather see a cut in the number of tag for a couple of years than hunt and only see does and 2x2's. The past few years I've only harvested does from this area
@hunterfishman1 hey I appreciate nature when I get to experience it, but there is not reason to bash on the "urban jungle". I live in NYC and I find it exciting, and nature just as exciting as well! It's amazing to see animals in their natural habitats just being them, but there is no need to bash on the city
Also currently a life member of the mule deer foundation, which is also a good source of information for wyomings mule deer populations. merely made the statement that wyoming has a decent amount of limited quota area selection would hate to see the state go to more of a trophy management mindset.
@hunterfishman1 Your language is rather uncalled for but that being said, I have to agree with you. These bucks are truly magnificent. Seeing bucks that big just has to do something for you. You gotta' agree! And yeah, some bozos are ostriches!
Weird how that works out isn't it? Here we have a group of tree huggers that revel in hunter meat, and with their idealism of waste not want not, it actually goes very quickly!
@nmelkhunter1 oh yeah tell me about it. I live in the Chicago Area in Illinois. Every other time I drove by a forest preserve id see a deer. now, I can ride through the whole state into minnesota and not even see one. I heard in the news that coyote population had gone up.
The thing about people, once they get into a government position they absorb the mentality of those around them. They can't just leave the deer herd, Sage hen or Chukar populations alone. They have to create a crisis so they can solve it. It is of little consequence that it is the game animals that suffer. Government is in the business of spending money, not saving it. If deer herds and hunters have to pay, they could care less.
:37 omg!.. 2:53 holy tolido lol them deer are liable to ruin a hunt due to a hard on in the sights lol.... i wish i would have seen that up in vedawoo... such a warm hunting season this past season
i dont know what your idea of hunters is, but it is NOT what you seem to think... me and everybody i know who hunts, do it for the kill, the meat(we have a freezer set aside just for it), the hide, and the antlers... and those who really "give a shit about the Future of Western Deer Herds" will hunt, because it pumps money into management...the only reason these deer are here today is because of hunters.. look up the Pittman-Robertson act
The wolves and bears kill 80% of the moose and caribou in AK, but you cant convince the shit-bag antis of this, thats OK they keep on whining, we keep on shooting. Nice VID!
Regardless of the "primary cause" of the population decline, if it IS declining or too low, even if it isn't hunters' doing, doesn't it make sense to, you know, stop killing them for a bit and go kill something else that there's lots of for a while? Maybe I just don't understand ecology...
Thats why deer herds have been, hammered in CA. (the bleeding heart liberals), not to mention the big horn sheep that where re-introduced, have been wiped out with just a hand-full left, Mt lion hunting has been banned in the gay state, thus the lions have no fear of humans, and kill,kill,kill.. thats what happens when you make laws with emotion and not common sense & science.

Great videography! Well done! Thank you!
Awesome video. I too recognize several bucks. I filmed both those dropper bucks in 03/04. Haven't been back since 08. Great job.
Love it. What a great day to be a Montana resident!
You haven’t done any videos in awhile. I would love to see some more Winter range mule deer vids. Your work is amazing, please rekindle your fire and post some more.
Great video. I enjoyed every minute of it.

Where was this video taken? those deer are amazing!
so many awesome bucks...great vids.
I'm from MT so I'm out of the WY loop. What did the "Fins and Feathers" change in the 90's, bag limits, increased doe harvest, etc?

Reminds me of going through Wyoming on a greyhound bus, along side the road in a small ravine were 2 large mulies like that resting.
very nice footage
NIce! There's Some Decent Bucks in there!
The buck at 3:18 to end gets my vote for most impressive typical, despite the extra tine in his left back fork. The bucks at 0:17- 0:44 make it a tough choice though.
did you take that in west side wy?
beautiful bucks

@GntShedZ No joke, they're opportunists. They take what is easiest, regardless anyway. They have more right then humans do out there.
The bucks got this big in Washington state in the Bickelton area, before the public land went private. :(
Im pretty sure most of those big bucks aren't alive right now haha
Why don't you start with the wolves and mountain lions
@suntanmikee Florida!!!!!!!!
the very last film of the big 5 point, 3:15 made me jizz my pants! dam that one was nice.

2:54 "Popeye" Buck genes
Wyoming, judging by some of comments.
:37 omg!.. 2:53 holy tolido lol them deer are liable to ruin a hunt due to a hard on in the sights lol.... i wish i would have seen that up in vedawoo... such a warm hunting season this past season
