@Guinness it's a factory fitted X pack, rare as hens teeth and The road race looks been done to death. I'm all for a modified Capri as I have 5.7ltr V8 in mine, but one like this I certainly wouldn't strip out the interior but each to their own.
I am a capri nut. The MK3 is my favourite cos it has everything. I love the so many modifications on this capri, it looks right and nothing looks out of place.
My Grandad had a 2.8litre special in black... For most of the year it was kept under rugs but when it was brought out in the summer it always felt like a special occasion. Unfortunately he passed away last year and my Dad had to sell the car but I hope one day to locate it and buy it back as the car would have a lot of sentimental value to me
My mouth is literally watering right now. That is absolutely stunning. Fabulous looking car. Friend of the family has a silver RS 2800 werks turbo Zakspeed. Very similar looking car. Ultra rare.
Yes, only 2 were imported I believe. I think one got written off somehow and the other which belongs to a friend of the family is for sale at parkway specialists vrn SMK 829Y. It's up for just under 90 grand. Check it out👍
I owned 3 Capris, a Mark I 1.6L in Metallic Blue, a Yellow Mark II 2.0L S, and finally one of the very last Mark III 2.8i again in Metallic Blue. Loved my Capri's. This is absolutely stunning and totally desirable.
Capris where sold in Europe until late 85 and last ones registerd in UK where 1987/88 , ford own mercury and it was apathetic buyers , also reliability due to change of engine source amd warranty returns state side that killed it also they tended to rot quicker in certain states
I only clicked on this because my Dad and a mate had Capris when I was a nipper. Following the details on that polycarbonate windows manufacturer, I then discovered they actually make them for a Fiat Coupé. Absolutely over the moon as I've been looking for some for ages for my project car! Then I saw the builder has put carbon fibre panels all through the interior. I decided to do this on the Coupé two weeks ago and couldn't find an example anywhere. Looks as good as I'd hoped it would. Fantastic car. I love seeing people putting effort into making classics like this perform. Restoring them just keeps them old and flawed. I think it's far better to improve them with modern techniques and technology but keep the character that defines them. I only hope they've replaced the live axle 🤦🏼♂️
Beautiful car. I loved my White 1600 Ford Capri (1983 model) which I bought 30 years ago for £500...a bargain ! It got me to work on the worst of winter frosts...started first time every early morning. The only problem was the light weight back which would dance along icy back roads....your steering and handling was put to the test but had great laughs and memories in my precious beautiful car. Back then it was unusual for a female to drive such a car and I was always challenged by teenagers in their souped up cars for a race when stopped at lights in town. It gave me great satisfaction to leave them behind like dust in the wind as my car flew with little acceleration. Great day's back then. 🤗🏴
The 3.1 litre conversion and the triple carbs were actually available from the series X catalogue, very expensive items. The Chinese JBW wheels look terrible, it needs the original 7.5 inch wide ATS 4-spokes. The latches front and rear are awful and the interior is well.... It would have been better for originality and value if he had kept the interior standard and added the complete list of available extras from the Series X catalogue
As a 2 seater sports car guy, I owned and loved a used Capri 1 with a 4 cyl /4spd . One of my favorite cars of .all time. Surprising performance especially for the price. Very German feel in the handling . I wish they were still being built

The Capri was Australia's el-cheapo Ford.Mustang. I learnt to drive on one and my first car was a Ford Cortina TC, XLE with the 6cyl (250cc) englne as used in the Ford Falcon. The Cortina was a good car with tons of power from that engine.

The good old days. I used to have a 2.0 S in midnight blue with American slot mags and a k&N filter . A man at the top of the road was selling one, mint in silver 3.0s for £1000 back in 1997 .
Superb. This is a beautiful car. Props to whoever worked on this car throughout its lifetime. Stunning is all I can say. My father had a similar car albeit a standard white 2.8 litre and this is where my love for Capri's came from as a child.
Remember my mate buying the 2.8 injector after he had been driving around in a mini for years, jesus frightened the fook out of me when I went in the injector with him, fast
We used to own an x-pack 3.0s factory edition in 1988, my dad at the time used to drop me off at school in it, it was black with a Red interior and it was very loud. 07/04/2023, the car was actually bored out to a 3.1, the loudness of that car was something special, same person also had an ex police capri, that had a full janspeed exhaust, so another that was loud, he didn`t keep that for long, it was rotten underneath apparently, he swapped it for an A reg xr3i in gunmetal grey with cloverleaf alloys, i remember that car being in nice condition, i could go on, just my original comment brought back a few other memories, sorry.
Whilst in fantastic order, i'm no fan of the race car interior, or mechanical modifications the X Pack is fine but everything else I'd have to return to exactly how it left the factory ,for me personally originality is the only way to go.
You need to up rate the engines, I’ve owned 3 3lt Capris since the 70’s, 2 Mk1’s and a Mk2. Although quick in their day they only had around 140bhp when standard! They need some big valve heads and a nice cam at the very least. Made mine much quicker together with a few other mods! Unless of course all you want to do is polish it and take it to shows🥱!
A mate put me onto a one of a kind clean minter white 2.0 sport capri that was traded in for a Mk2 XR2 many moons ago. 27 years exactly. The guy that owned it drove the crap out of the gold seal engine then traded it in. As a 2nd year Ford apprentice this was amazing to come aross the dials shape of the car and wish i never sold it. As if i had of had the technical experience in later years id of stripped and rebuilt the engine never seen a shell as clean engine bay would of been as clean as this for sure. Grand in a straight line, but an dose in the wet, unless set up correctly i guess. But all in all iconic shape regardless , this model is one to dream of for sure.
I bought a brand new one in 1977, NCM 980S. What a car it was, worth every penny. I could not quite afford a 2.0S, so I had to settle for a 2.0 GL, it was beautiful. I loved that car but I had to sell it in 1980 to put a deposit on a house. I have been lucky, lots of new cars, nothing matched how I felt driving that Capri.
In '75 I had a 2.0 GTXLR with twin carbs. . Mustard yellow with black vinyl roof. It was great but in the winter in Rochdale had to put a 3 x2 concrete flag in the boot to keep the rear wheels on the road.
That Sir, is probably the best Capri I have seen for many years, a friend of mine had a 3.0 Mk3 Capri Ghia with factory X Pack & had a manual gearbox, which was a special factory order, I believe all Ghia's were Auto, it was a fantastic car, I've often wondered what happened to it 🤔
Had two 3L S Capris, but only with three speeds. #1 dry 'fast', #2 wet 'careful' & #3 snow&ice 'parking'. #2 & #3 were considerably lesser exciting with 50 - 100 kg in boot. The torque and stiffer suspension made it very fast in town, while 120/5 mph and under 8 secs to 60mph in 1970/80s added to fine 'chuckable' handling made it probably best in sports class while still room for family, large dog and holiday luggage. Very arguably worthy of #1 ranking as an overall package but at Ford Pricing and quality. Definitely examples "oldies is goldies" status

I recall X registered cars we’re out from August 1981 to August 1982. The car was ordered in August of 1980? & delivered in February 1981? Which is impossible on an X reg. Did this person read or say this incorrect? So the 3.0s was the predecessor of the 2.8 injection 😊
As a 59 year old I grew up around these cars and that my friend is a stunner
Same, I'm 59 and beginning to feel I should be buying one of these, never realised how iconic they were until recently.
They are and always will be amazing cars. I'd put a fishnet recaro interior back in this though and the roll cage would be gone.
Taking out the roll cage? No chance
My thoughts exactly 💯
