- The Minecraft Survival Guide Season 3 continues in Minecraft 1.20.4!
In this tutorial, we move beyond the villager trading hall and step into the Nether to take a comprehensive look at Piglin Bartering!
First, we take a look around the villagers I've recruited for our trading hall, explaining the variety of trades from each profession, and the enchanted books I've settled on trading from my librarians.
After that, we move into the Nether to discuss the future of my Nether Hub, then throw some gold at a piglin so we can explore the blocks and items we can acquire from Piglin Bartering. We look at how rare each drop is - and when the Soul Speed enchanted book is missing from the list, I take a trip back out to some Piglin Bastion Remnants to obtain the enchantment for my netherite boots!

>>>INTRODUCTION TO STOCK EXCHANGE
I genuinely named my Fletcher room Stock exchange, because its a dumb pun if you speak german (Stock = Twig/Stick)
Good😊
The named light gray stained glass as an infographic in the chest is really neat trick!
I see Etho is using soulsand and soul speed boots in his huge storage system so he can get around faster. Not to mention the monstrosity he came up with combining soul speed, depth strider and dolphin's grace on Hermitcraft
Soul soil in a storage system is great. I've used it in my last two storages as well, and it's also useful for nether tunnels, in case you need to do the "walk of shame" back to wherever you died, if you have spare soul speed boots (e.g. those iron ones you get from bartering).
The souls power the soles of the boots 😂.
For the nether hub idea you had, you could build an 8 times smaller version of the storage system like how traveling in the nether is eight times quicker than the overworld
Congrats on your FREE GLASS! (always think about that with the grey glass panes)
Spectral Arrows = How to keep track of your young kids when playing on your family server. It shows you where they are in game and the screams of fury at being shot by Dad help locate them in the real world too...
Thanks for the laugh!
Remember the combining limit for books, ok? If you combine unbreaking I into unbreaking III it really drives up the amount of combinations the game lets you do before it's too expensive.
Recently binged your 1.16 episodes on the nether survival challenge and the iron nuggets trade makes me want to watch them again! 😂
On bedrock, there is an exploit where you can force a piglin to finish the bartering really quickly. 18,000 barters per hour resulting in over 100,000 items per hour from just a single piglin
I wear fully enchanted gold boots in my world because I never remember to put on a piece of gold armor in the nether otherwise. They have Unbreaking III and Soul Speed III on them, among lots of other things, and I use soul sand around my base in several different places to speed around. They've never even come close to breaking, and their low durability means you can repair them very easily. So Soul Speed III on gold boots is definitely not an issue if they're properly enchanted.
If anyone is curious, the enchantments are Fire Protection IV, Mending, Unbreaking III, Feather Falling IV, Soul Speed III, and Depth Strider III.
I use basically the same enchantments on my gold boots as well, with the exception of Depth Strider wich is replaced by Frost Walker 2, since I only use those for the Nether! (And obviously, there being no water in the nether means Depth Strider is useless, and Frost Walker is useful for walking on magma block without taking damage.)
But yeah, I totally agree, it's absolutely not a problem, and actually works quite well!
I really enjoyed how you categorised the loot. it’s kind of satisfying to me that the levels of rarity match up with those categories so well
It occurs to me that piglins should occasionally spawn with fire res, the way spiders will sometimes appear with various potion effects. If they HAVE the potions, it seems logical that they would sometimes USE them.
Or if you're fighting them or if they fall into lava on hard more they should use them too
@@FizzySugarStarI was about to say that! They would do just what witches do!
This week in Pixlriff. :) Watching your recaps since season 6 and now your survival guides. You are a hard-working motherlover. I love your in-depth knowledge and love to help put the next generation of miners and crafters. Would love to see you as a hermit, but I understand that somebody needs to create reacaps. I am coding since christmas like a slave and your survival guide helps me to keep on going even when I do not want to do anything. You create better entertainment than Hollywood and Co. Love you man, keep on building and I keep on coding. Thank you so much for so many joy. ❤
I am new to the game and wanted to comment on a earlier episode about enchanting. I have found that you can add the Mending enchantment to your shield in the anvil. I have found this to be emensly helpful at my current level of gameplay.
I was just looking at accounts I was subscribed too and came across this, the most nostalgic half an hour ever
I believe you can convert a bottle of water into a splash waterbottle with gunpowder. And when you are on fire, you can use a splash waterbottle to put out the fire.
You can use the water bottles to fill a cauldron, in the Nether, which can be used to put yourself out if you're on fire
Bedrock differences: Glowing, and thus spectral arrows, don't exist on Bedrock, so that barter is replaced by regular arrows.
Also, the grey glass pane trick won't work, because glass panes on Bedrock are angled with a thin end partially facing the viewer, rather than being face-on as on Java.
I’ve been here since S1 Ep1 and here’s what I have to say:
HOW THE HELL ARE YOU NOT A 1 MILLION YET!?
I need my life as organized as this warehouse.
an upside down nether hub sounds sooooo cool
I was thinking, for the Nier Automata city you're thinking of making, how would end rods look? I don't know much about it, but I do know that end rods are white and have that slightly futuristic look to them. I know they're not the easiest to get, but it's an idea you could work with.
Love the survival guide, and have been binge watching all videos, including season 1, 2 and hardcore.
I set this up a while ago, but was so glad I took the trouble to set up a dual froglight farm right next to a piglin bartering setup in a treasure bastion near my nether portal - it was definitely a pain to get it going (removing all of the brutes, clearing the space, creating the two farms and moving the frogs and piglins into place) but having both farms output their goods at the same time while I'm there was the best decision! Looking forward to seeing what you do with your bartering set up Pix, thanks for the great vid!
Once I built my pillager farm, selling vegetables to gain emeralds it's kinda moot at this point. Also, tons of enchantment books, arrows, totems of undying and lost more... So, I decided to remove all my vegetable farms and only kept the wheat farm for packed mud. All the villagers are maxed to master and with a mud/clay farm, super smelter, blaze, wither skeleton, iron, drown, prismarine, Hoglin, frog light, witch hut, and a few others, building up a Survival World has been streamlined lol
Hi Pix.
Can you please make a video on 'Texture Packs And Data Packs in Minecraft?'
it is a topic that is hard for me to understand.
I know he did one on his first survival guide series, there have been a lot of game changes since then, but it shouldn't be too out of date.
He likes to play in a way that all his viewers can relate to in their own survival worlds, so it might be a bit before he goes into things like resourcepacks, datapacks, and performance mods (Optifine or Sodium) again.
He has already done videos on that topic, multiple times. See for instance the Minecraft Survival Guide episode 69, episode 183, episode 204, ...
@@brickbot2.038 Oh i see.. Thanks!
Patience, my man. Patience 😊
Loved it ty pix 😊
🎵 Pigman! My name's Dan and I'm a- 🎵
I've been wondering what you were planning for a nether hub - I'm on the same seed and have been stumped on how to deal with the nether spawn location. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with!
Obsidian can also be acquired renewably by farming lava with dripstones and cauldrons
Gravel is also renewable due to gravity block dupers and you don't need to mine obsidian with the end metods, withers can break the end platform.
Fire charge can be used for fireworks or to fire from dispensers as "projectiles" stuff you can't do with flint and steel
Spent ages to set up my stone mason village so i get all dyed and glazed terracota deals plus quartz by saving and reloading. While I sell them the stone factory yield. ❤
I just got done doing a overworld portal gold farm that's connected to my iron farm. It's hilarious watching the golems and zombified piglins fight it out.
After I got soul speed for my boots, and I lined my pedestrian trails to the far reaching sites in the Nether with Soul Sand. I don't have an Elitra yet so the boost really comes in handy.
Good vid 🎉 love you pix
You could make a pure white map that matches the quartz to hide the lights

Furthermore, the _Glowing Effect_ only has a duration of 0:10.
Even in PvP situations (invisibility),
or against the Illusioner,
or the very rare invisible spider,
*this very short amount of time is pretty much useless.*
_(Invisible Wandering Trader, would be cruel. Please don't.)_
A bit interesting is,
that spectral arrows are applying the Glowing Effect to Enderman,
even though he can't be injured.
Even Though I'm a bedrock Player I learnt Minecraft From Pixi Here himself and I make Farms From Other Bedrock Players here but Still Learning things make interesting he makes it that way
FYI. Bedrock doesn't get spectral arrows in piglin bartering. Thats only a java exclusive.
Here’s a feature I’d love to see. A way to automate nether wart farms. If you give a piglin a gold hoe they’ll swap it out for their sword. Then if you give them netherwart they’ll plant it and harvest it on any soul sand they see. They’ll then share it with other Piglins the same way that villagers would. If Mojang wants to make this feature more interesting maybe Piglins will only share with piglin children to show their compassion for their youth, and ruthlessness towards each other. You could then farm netherwart the same way you would with carrots and potatoes using villagers.
Arguably, only in Minecraft is gold a bartering item.
Put a chiseled bookcase above each of your librarians in the trading hall. You can store the enchanted books in them and easily see if you have a book they offer when you need one instead of searching through a chest for it.
This is Great IOoOI 👍
What about sea lantern lighting for your quarts nether hub?
It's probably a little bit too blue, in completely white surroundings it would still stand out.
More over, it being completely white means it is easier to see the differences in lighting, so you would spot a place that isn't properly lit from miles away, and for everything to be properly lit, you would need tons of the stuff, and it just might be too much!

@@Vuk_Kovac should I go back to bed?
Nah, he got that relic track at the end and that makes it all worthwhile! Plus the content is still fun
Doesn't efficiency V on sheers enable them to insta-mine wool?
Yes.
That's not really important in survival, because you aren't really going to encounter large quantities of naturally generated wool that you want to harvest. There are small areas of it in a couple of structures (e.g., woodland mansions), but nothing so large that the ability to instamine it is compelling.
I suppose it can be relevant in multiplayer, though, if one of your server mates likes to build giant things out of wool in the course of pranking your base.
@jonadabtheunsightly it can be super helpful while building
@@jonadabtheunsightly maybe not overly helpful. But there are a few out there that like to keep a nice organized tool chest with at least one of each type of tool with max enchants.
Someone might want to collect wool in the ancient city as well
Have you tried creating a village in the nether? How would that go?
🫨 the idea I just got from this video and a few others... oh boy is it's going to be interesting...
Another W video
Hey hey
Hi Pix
Unbreaking 1 books instead of Unbreaking 3 is kinda bad.
Not utterly catastrophically "your world is now useless" bad, but still, it can be a problem, and it needs to be handled in a special way the player needs to be aware of.
The thing is that by combining those 4x Unbreaking 1 books into 1x Unbreaking 3,
it gains the secret stat "Worked on an Anvil: x2"
So if you use this book as the first thing you add to your tool/armor, it will start at "Worked on an Anvil: x3".
Not a huge problem if you just want to add Unbreaking and Mending to your Shears or Flint and Steel.
But if it's a Helmet or Boots you want to fully enchant, adding the books in the wrong order could make the job too expensive to finish. Not a huge problem for Pix here, but for someone that doesn't quite understands the hidden Anvil mechanics, odds are there will be lots of tears in the process.
Also, while the cost in Emeralds can be considered negligible, the fact that the one enchant you want to add to everything costs you 4x books instead of just 1x is a pretty big hindrance. Having to combine 4x Looting 1 or Power 3 every time you make a new set of gear would be way less expensive in Leather.
Never knew you could craft diorite. Does anyone ever actually do that though?
Most likely on Skyblock
@@raymondstheawesome that makes sense:)
Andesite as well, with 1 diorite and 1 cobblestone. Learned about both recently.
Let's gooo ❤
When you doing a create mod play through
Hey pixlriffs I’ve been watching since 2019 and I love the videos. Please can you beat half a heart hardcore? I did it in half an hour and I also have a 5000 day half a heart hardcore world
Pix doesn't really play Hardcore anymore. Look up his Hardcore Survival Guide (especially its last episode) to find out why he stopped.
Damn pix ur kinda slow tbh, no hate😊
I think that’s the point. It’s both a playthrough and a tutorial series. If he gets to episode 2 and grabs an elytra, everything after that becomes “Building Mega Shulker Farm”, “Creating 1:1 Solar System”, etc. it gets stale real quick. Most of those UA-camrs have massive teams and cheat their way through the playthroughs anyway.
Pix has the perfect balance for me, his play style reminds me to slow down and enjoy the game, enjoy my builds, get more creative, find inspiration, learn something new, instead of just rushing to the endgame.
Just started the video, talking about piglin trading, that also means gold farming. Ianxo4 has an easy farm that is great for a single player world.
