Sadly he past away since this video, I knew him for a short time, he was the kindest most enlightened man I've met in a long time. If world leaders were like the honorable elder, we'd have peace on Earth.

The Apache resistance didn't end with Geronimo. Apaches continued to live in Northeastern Sonora in Mexico around Fronteras. They lived the old way until around 1934.

I just found my dad 2 years ago; he did not know I existed. I knew I was native but until I got to meet him, I never knew the specific tribe. He has many many old black and white photos of his parents/grandparents/great grandparents. His son, my half-brother, said he has tried to be registered with the tribe as he is the family historian and has a TON of information on our Ancestors. Unfortunately, he said that they told him without papers it would be a no. I do not think I will try if he was denied twice, I don't think I will be approved. That said, it's still wonderful to see this video, watch others and attend Powwow. I hope to find more ways to learn the language and history to teach my children since I missed out on so much.

I’m happy to see and hear that there are still stories that have not been heard about my Native Apache heritage these stories need to be heard, my Great Grandma used to tell me and my brothers stories and I especially loved the language and songs.

I was there last week for the first time in my life. Upon arriving, I never felt so at home! I fished in the cold waters of Mescalero Lake and breathed the crisp clean air Lincoln Forest had to offer! I was deeply saddened and shed tears when I drove away to come back home! I strongly felt the presence of my Ancestors there and felt as if I hadn’t seen them years and just the thought of saying goodbye to such special place brought tears to my eyes. I will be returning sooner than later! My sprit belongs there.

My grandpa on my moms side looks just like this man. He told me his grandma was from Las Cruces but he never knew her. I swear in all my life ive never met any other Montoyas or seen the name till I visited my dads side of the fam in NM. Turns out pretty much all my great grandparents from both sides trace back to NM. I visited Mescalero/Ruidoso for the first time 2 years ago, so random we chose that spot not even knowing our background. it was so beautifil It literally made me fall in love with NM again. Now that I got my DNA results 33% native from "mexico" and 4% northeast asian( where apaches came from) 5 % unkown my ass pretty much 40% the rest Spanish lol I asked all my fam from NM if we had native roots. And they couldn't even remember their grandmas and grandpas names but they always told them growing up grandma was different. Shes was the orphan Apache that never claimed to be "mexican". I saw a pic of her and I look just like her now that I grew my hair out. Long story short the pass couple years have been spiritually strange for me, but not until all my fam said we have Apache in us, it made so much sense to me. I honestly think I have Apache from both sides of my fam but they are the type of people who got assimilated and didnt learn any of their culture. I'm like the only one from both sides of the fam that cares about this stuff... I started teaching myself the Mescalero language, and listening to traditional songs and it moves me, speaks to me, I have such a raw talent for art and music and I honestly think its through my Apache genes . I know this is long but I just want to say I'd do anything to learn the songs and the language. I plan to move to Mescalero or near it in order to help in anyway shape or form inspire those to create more music art and also be apart of saving the history. If yall could do anything to point me to who I should speak too about these things I'd greatly appreciate it!!!!! Instragam @ thatmixedapache please check out my latest music on my youtube if you can thank you for this video!!!!!!!!!!🐺🙋🏽‍♂️

My three Mescalero Apache grandmothers left Bosque Redondo with the Navajos when they were released from the concentration camp. I wish I had learned the Mescalero language to honor my grandmothers. I am glad to listen to this interview.

    • @246RickJames
      @246RickJames  6 років тому +1

Hay Leslie, there are a lot of things we regret we had known or should have done back then. One thing is for sure you can't change the past, but you can learn from it, there's nothing stopping you from learning the ancient language now and believe me the spirits will be happy that you did. You will be closer then you ever were when you can converse in the ancient language. For years, before I go to sleep each night when it's quit and the world is at peace, I talk to the spirits, I ask questions and I talk about the things I did today. And you know what, they talk back in my sleep. Sometimes it's in a dream, sometimes it's just their words, when I awaken I have more knowledge than I had the day before. You honor them when you talk to them, they are around you all the time, you just have to learn how to listen to them. Sometimes it's a feeling instead of words, that's when they are closet to you.
Once you open your mind, you will begin to see them, if only in your dreams, but they are there. I've been visited by gray wolves, horses and mountain lions, standing right next to my bed. I know they want me to remember you and I do. The last time I was down there (I was the tall black Elder with gray hair and a dragon) to film the Mescalero ceremony, I stayed at the Mountain Gods Resort and during the ceremony the sacred mask appeared in the bathroom mirror, my cousin was my camera man and saw it first, I saw it second. It was almost the same, except it was a light gray. It had a pattern on it as if it were carved from wood, and I looked into the eye openings, it was like a vast land of fresh white glistening snow. I told the Elders about it, they knew about it and said few people have seen it. I have been spiritually in touch ever since.

My name is Andrew. I am registered Apache. I haven't lived on any Rez. My blood brother Leon Rattler Chief of Chiefs, of The Blackfeet Nation informed me that I was a Contrary as I always went my way.
I rode as Apache warrior with John Apache Smith for more than ten years.
I am now 69 and John says I am probably Jicarilla Band? Maybe Mescalero? All I know is New Mexico Apache since I have never researched my past. I look like this man in video but have never met him. My Apache name is mine & none of White hairs business.
They call me Crazy Jerry & Spokane Courts & Pediphile Lawyer Lloyd Herman & Ass embezzled(stole) my $1billion twenty one years younger past. They have tried to kill me 12 times and I am still available to complain about their abuse of this Vietnam veteran past Marine, Biker, and Native American, plus First American from 1642.
    What can I say?
    I fought for my Country!
    I fought for my people!
I still have my life of poverty to live, while the wealthy and faulty thinking leadership that stole my wealth still die around me.

Be proud for what you have accomplished in life and don't judge yourself by the deeds of others. We each have a path to travel in life and remember it isn't so much the destination, but the journey that counts. Do not cloud your mind with the folly's of others, wealth can be measured in many ways. You are wealthy if you have enough food to feed your people through the winter. You are wealthy if you have children to carry on the ancient traditions. You are wealthy if you have your health to protect your people. You are wealthy if you have the wisdom to see your wealth.

Rick James Thank-you for reading my post.
I am rich as you say. The Courts that took everything left that Lawyers did not spend, are now paying bills to supply my Condo that they bought and let me live in.
      Money?
My retirement pays for my food and I have no debts to pay. I just have no money for travel to New Mexico for a visit. I do feel rich though. Maybe because I am Contrary? My Apache name is "Bleach White."

I've heard this story about running long distances. My best friend from Mescalero and I decided to walk from Tularosa to Alamogordo. This would be 12 or 13 miles south. My friend was lagging pretty far back and I turned back to make sure he was doing okay. We were with 2 of my brothers. He told me he couldn't walk, but that he could run the rest of the way. I was kinda shocked and he said, trust me I run better than I walk. He passed us up at a jog and then sprinted ahead like he wasn't even tired. He was on the track team in high school and his only events were the shotput and the javelin. Not one running event. Lol! We caught up with him on the edge of town and he said what took you guys so long? Lol! Yes. Apache people can run. True story.
