Nice catch but from one shrimper to another one might want to put pulling racks/poles on your boat. 2 pole bolted to the side of your boat on the inside tie your board ropes to the poles one on each side it will spread your boards out more and open the trawl up more
My friends and I broke our bridal one day while trawling. I tried attaching the door pull ropes to the cleats on the two back corners. Huge fail. The boat wouldn't turn without the bridal and block. We had to give up without it.

Love (most) all your video, especially where you navigate the lovely marshes of the Low Country. I do have a question. What do you do with the shrimp heads after separated from the body? The reason why I am asking is because on the country I am from (Italy) you always buy shrimps heads and all. Many preparations require heads and shells on, other require heads off, but they are NOT discarded. You can make delicious stock and broth with the heads (and the shells). After using heads and shells, they can be reused for composting and in the garden. I wish I could find a source of whole shrimps. Not even during our vacation on Edisto Island can obtain that; I have checked with Flowers Seafood Co., Edisto Seafood, etc, with no luck. Maybe next time I am on Edisto, I should visit you on Sint Elina or Beaufort.
Fresh shrimp won't last but a couple of days if they're not headed. We use some of the heads in our crab pots for bait but we throw most of them back in the water for the wildlife to feed off of. Are there any shrimp boats coming into Edisto?
@@SaltyReflections Thanks for your reply and the explanation. I have seen a few shrimp boats on the channel by Edisto Seafood but I have never seen them moving around or unloading catches. Maybe because I do not go shopping too early. I have seen shrimping boats in McClellanville though. They seem to still have somewhat of a shrimp fishing activity. Where are selling their catches the 20+ shrimpers you see in your video?
@Padi 5Star, there are several local fresh markets here in Beaufort. So some of these boats are connected to them & are either their boats or sell to them. We know of a few that take their catch back a little further inland to the cities where they are from.
Several/many hours, it is really hard to say for sure. This video is over a year old; so our old SC DNR reports are stored away & we wish our memories were that good. 😄
