This is one fabulous piece of machinery. I have had mine for ten months now and its a pleasure both on the track and on the windy curvy mountain roads that I drive on. The manual transmission is wonderful and the naturally aspirated engine gives off the coolest growl you will ever hear. I live in California, so I have the cabriolet and I never turn the radio on because the sound of that engine is intoxicating. I have had four other 911's and they have all been great in their own way.
Just bought one of these , a 991 .1GTS with PDK..from Porsche Swindon ...and I absolutely love it . Pace , prestige and everyday comfort, the best sports car on the planet..IMHO
I love it. This is exactly what I would buy if I won the lottery. I absolutly Love the manual transmision and the beautiful blue. Thanks so much for sharing.
@auto express: if you turn off traction control and put the car in sport+ it will not rev match for you anymore when down shifting. It only does it when sport+ and traction control together are on
Great colour, manual, this is a greatly-specced GTS. Only thing I'd add would be the carbon ceramics. But Mat, I must say, there are plenty exhaust notes which are better. The GT3's and the 458's are some of them.
ianiva Carbon ceramics are great for track days.. For a daily driver though is it worth the $10k option? considering the cost of maintenance on them as well if you're doing stop and go traffic a lot..
John (new channel) It's certainly not flat. It's tricked up by genius exhaust manifold shaping. That's not something to consider a negative. And not all of it is from the exhaust. It also has an induction noise.
Dee Jay Well, yeah. But they look great and they're better at doing their job. If someone has so much money to spend on and maintain a car, they surely don't mind a few pricey options.
When someone is being asked to think of a true classic sports car Porsche is definately within the top 3. And arguably the first car that comes to mind for the majority of the vote. This car is just beautiful. Many car enthusiasts would agree that this car manufacturer kept its sleek lines from one generation to the next. Not very many manufactures are able to pull this off. Oh and as far as the price is conserned, I think its worth every penny whether it be in dollars or euros!
I started to reply at the end of your first sentence. Glad I didn't. MOST people, even here in America, when asked about quintessential sports car, the Porsche even edges out the Vette. 911s ARE the classic sports car.
I like that spontaneous way of made a video, it's like the point of view of myself as a co-driver. Nice video, it seems you enjoyed it! And about the 911 GTS... I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT! The only thing I don't like is the coloured lows of the bumpers, I think that sector of the car shouldn't get that much light. The exhaust note is amazing, one of my favourites, but there are so many good sounding cars out there. Cheers from Chile, Mat! ;)
Some people say the Jaguar F type S (six cylinder) has a better sounding exhaust, but listening on you tube, I can't hear much difference. I'll have to test drive both I guess before I make a decision.
You'd option the pdk? Blasphemy! The main reason I'd rather have a gts would be that it's the best 911 (991) with 3 pedals. I am waiting for the cayman gt4.
Yeah, well unless you really like buying only old cars, the three pedals will be going away at Porsche just like Mercedes and Ferrari...Far fewer buyers are opting for the manual anymore. Very sad, really.
I'm not sure about *this* ducktail spoiler IMO. The ducktails look great on the old 911s, but it doesn't really fit the 991's lines. It sticks out like a sore thumb and spoils (pardon the pun) the smooth styling of the rear end of the 991 IMO. This ducktail is too big really, a more subtle one would look better. :)
+Powaup lol, first you'd need to know the price. 1. Depends how much money u get from the Lottery. 2. There are some cheap old ones, but if you want a recent modernised one, the cheapest it'll go for is 40k pounds.
Matt is becoming one of my most favorite car reviewers. Of course Chris Harris takes the #1 spot. :P (Yeah, the camera was crap, but few years ago we would be happy about it. :)
one of my favorite car testers gj on auto express on signing this awsome guy give this guy some racing experience and some car control lessons and he will do awsome reviews
@Mike Smith Man, I live in Las Vegas and Alcantara can still have cooled seats. However, don't confuse Alcantara in most American and other cars with the Alcantara from Europe...BIG difference...Alcantara from Europe is $ 400.00 a yard, WAY better stuff that doesn't stretch, wrinkle or breathe like the American stuff.
Good vid, not often you hear a down to earth motoring presenter getting real about wealth and owning one of these expensive luxuries. Thanks to the likes of Top gear generation you'd think Joe average had the means to jump into a different supercar for every day of the week.
I notice that he avoided the subject of the 991 poor electric-steering feedback/feel? I really like Porsches but for £90-odd grand I'd want to know exactly what the front wheels were doing.
OK, I don't who you're listening to, but I've seen many respected reviewers say the GTS has the best electric steering they have ever driven. We all need to get over mechanical steering going bye-bye.
Pro tip: Alcantara is a very cheap material and you do not want it on anything that you touch. There's a reason why the cheapest Porsche (the Macan) base model comes standard with Alcantara.
NO NO NO...Do NOT confuse the crap alcantara found in American and other cars. The European Alcantara cost $ 400.00 per yard and does not stretch, wrinkle or do the other things that the non-European Alcantara does do. American upholsterers who use the European Alcantara can't even get it after summer ends due to the makers taking a break over there or something like that. PLEASE do not confuse the two.
Idk why this guy is talking about the PDK being more fuel efficient than the manual when the car has 430hp....How fuel efficient can it be with that much hp?
coming from 2021 it’s weird to see Mat somewhere out of carwow
That lifetime has come around Well Done Matt on your New GT3RS

How tall are you? I'm 6'3" and I wonder if i would fit in one.
OMG the color is AMAZEBALLS
Just bought one of these , a 991 .1GTS with PDK..from Porsche Swindon ...and I absolutely love it .
Pace , prestige and everyday comfort, the best sports car on the planet..IMHO
The exhaust sounds heavenly.
Need this car, been looking at them for ages. Just £83,000 short
i got you fam
Agree on the exhaust note Mat. Having driven a Carrera S Cab with sports exhaust, it utterly blew me away.
Dat boxing 6, it really does have it's own unique sound.
I love it. This is exactly what I would buy if I won the lottery. I absolutly Love the manual transmision and the beautiful blue. Thanks so much for sharing.
It's great to see this and know that in just a couple of years Matt would own a 911 Turbo S worth double the amount of a GTS. Good for him!
Perfect exterior spec! Saphire blue with sportdesign pack = yum! Would add PDK and alcantara GTS package though!
Ok. Enough watching these videos. Getting a 2016 GTS.
Great choice! We got one new with a pdk and love it
Matt should be on every car review channel!
malicalik 13 Matt Damon
@auto express: if you turn off traction control and put the car in sport+ it will not rev match for you anymore when down shifting. It only does it when sport+ and traction control together are on
Aaah the British weather. GTS best 911 for sure, mine with blacked out exterior and with red interior.
458 is a flat, tricked up sound. Noting compared to the raspy, howling flat 6
John (new channel) It's certainly not flat. It's tricked up by genius exhaust manifold shaping. That's not something to consider a negative. And not all of it is from the exhaust. It also has an induction noise.

amazing looker. Although I think it would look better without spoiler.
I find that the spoiler make it more special than a normal c2s
It's a lip, not a spoiler
Nah it has to have the spoiler!
You know how much that thing cost?
hamdan Alkhayyal if you can afford this you can afford the spoiler ;)
Alcantara and ducktail spoiler suck, but what a fantastic piece of kit

Mat has come a long way.
Awww boohoo for you 😭
I like manual gear boxes I've never had a car with a Auto, but I would happily have a Porsche with a pdk

Do a review of that Hyundai Genesis in the back
Yep all the sports car you’d ever need, and I need one!
Porsche has been making so many good cars, if I won the lotto tomorrow I could easily count 10 Porches I would but the next day
+Powaup lol, first you'd need to know the price. 1. Depends how much money u get from the Lottery. 2. There are some cheap old ones, but if you want a recent modernised one, the cheapest it'll go for is 40k pounds.
You can get a solid 996 for about $20k here, considered one a couple years ago
Matt is becoming one of my most favorite car reviewers. Of course Chris Harris takes the #1 spot. :P
(Yeah, the camera was crap, but few years ago we would be happy about it. :)
Jethro Boddington is quickly becoming one of my favorites as well and Matt
The sheer joy on your face says it all! :)
Is that Hyundai Genesis next to the Porsche??? Please review that car :) I am more interested in that car than the GTS.
Then go test drive one...They'll actually let you do that.
one of my favorite car testers gj on auto express on signing this awsome guy
give this guy some racing experience and some car control lessons and he will do awsome reviews
Have to love his honesty
Awesome one. Great vocal
This is has been drifted by Chris Harris
What?
Why would you ever sacrifice seat ventilation for Alcantara?
Jostein Holen Why the heck do you need seat ventilation for!? Alcantara is far better.
Sapphire Blue with white contrast stitching or Carrera White/ Agate Grey with red contrast stitching?
screw the stitching. looks lame af
Good vid, not often you hear a down to earth motoring presenter getting real about wealth and owning one of these expensive luxuries. Thanks to the likes of Top gear generation you'd think Joe average had the means to jump into a different supercar for every day of the week.
Is that a Hyundai Genesis? I didn't know if it's available in Europe.
My Prom Car last year! Cracking car
I know it wouldn't be as functional, but I wish the ducktail was more reminiscent of the Carrera rs...
Yeah, but you're right, it would look awesome.
No Sean. The latest version I'm talking.
Pro tip: Alcantara is a very cheap material and you do not want it on anything that you touch. There's a reason why the cheapest Porsche (the Macan) base model comes standard with Alcantara.

It's a breath taking car! 😃
Beautiful blue beast
Idk why this guy is talking about the PDK being more fuel efficient than the manual when the car has 430hp....How fuel efficient can it be with that much hp?
9.0 km/liter ... it's something like 10 liters every 100kms. Surprisingly Porsche is the most fuel efficient in the segment of sports cars
***** 19/26 MPG EPA rating for both the 7spd PDK and 7spd manual
***** Times are changing. Corvettes with upwards of 450 horsepower are also getting pretty good gas mileage.
That is a fantastic color.
Instead of watching the video , I actually want to ask " Does every camera man you can find are all in a vacation..."
古翰霖 lol
So, did he like it?
Are the wheels gloss black or satin?
Please do a Lincoln MKC the next time you go to the US.
What is the dark blue car next to it? Some new Hyundai?
Yes the genesis.
Great video.
In the background at the start, is that a Hyundai Genesis?
+Sebastien Roberts Yep
CLICK ON THE POP UP BANNER TO DOSCOVER MORE ON CARWOW
Thanks, Mat!!
But will it spontaneously combust, though?
No.
It's no Tesla or S-Class, bro!
starts at £91k?
think GT3 would be a wiser choice.
where does the rattle noice come from?
Would rather have a AMG GT! but no doubt the 911 is sooooo damn sexy!
91 grand bit expensive could get AMG GT Audi is rolling out the R8 soon as well
The current R8 starts in the 120's... LMFAO
SB Jay no it doesn't.In fact the r8 v8 starts at around 94k
www.audiusa.com/models/audi-r8
Use Google sometime.
SB Jay check it au audi uk friend.they are talking in pound sterling so the price of the r8 starts at around 94k pound sterling
which is almost 120,000 us dollars.
The duck tail spoiler does NOT belong on this car, it looks crass
Nice wheels
That spoiler ruins it for me
It's an option, not standard. I can live with it, but would prefer the more classical look (but I seem to be in the minority on that point).
rwd or awd
IMHO that duck-tail is not that great as it were on the 2.7 Rs, maybe is the position or the colour of the car but i don't like it.
It's the angle, it's a little too upright for my tastes
Is this the best that Auto Express can do?
Well what do you want?
Im ftom 2023, and Matt was wrong about PDK.
I’d still go for the PDK. Traffic where I live is horrific.
is this another škoda sponsored video?!
duck tail spoils the car
+Jet Jacob Well that's just like... your opinion, man.
Van Der gaurde
i know
but i really like 911 gts
+Jet Jacob have it without the spoiler then simples
Tom
simple is the best
Right, what a shame.
In Turkey, 450.000 USD. with tax fee
ferw swer wow
Its matt watson.hey mate
It’s mat Watson
4:08 you say that about every car.
I'd drive that...
Yeah, I'd drive that for a dollar.
What's the color name?
Sapphire blue
i dont like ducktail
Optional
I love it. Its remanisent of the 60's race cars.
lol at his Eargasm
I will say it is one of the best sounding 6 cylinders I've heard (and better than some V8s).
caymen gt4 makes more sense
No Spoiler!!
Cayman gts > this.
Not the same...More nimble than the 911, but it's not the same.
1st!!!!
Rather have amg gt
i dont think it's a lot of car for 91k pound.
meh...
Yeah, it's not as special as your La Ferrari.
nice, but the color is just awful!
Mercedes AMG GT much better than this shitty beetle 😂
Are u kidding me? this is the most pathetic review I have ever seen
First one you've watched, huh?
