Alright to clarify some of the confusion here, the reason you don’t see the usual ponies is simply because these songs come from a spin-off series known as Equestria Girls. The best summary I can give is that it’s set in an alternate universe where instead of the characters being ponies, they’re humans. The series itself mostly focuses on the high school antics of our characters but still sprinkles in the magic brought over when a pony ended up entering the alternate universe.
The first song you listened to, Welcome to the Show is a battle of the bands in the most literal sense between the heroines we follow in the show, and the main villains for that movie. It’s the climax of the second movie from the franchise, Rainbow Rocks. And the next two songs you listened to come from the first movie in the series, Equestria Girls. They’re very fun movies that do have a connection to the main shows canon, but as the series progresses it becomes it’s own series, only nodding to the main show a few times.
This was another great reaction and while the context may be a little lost, it’s always fun seeing you two enjoy the music and speculate what may be happening.
Forewarning: The Cafeteria song WILL get stuck in your head for life. That song came out about a decade ago.....and its STILL stuck in my head!!!

"Welcome To The Show" is still considered to be one of the Dazzlings greatest songs from Rainbow Rocks to this day!
"This Is Our Big Night" and "Cafeteria Song" are two of my all time favorite songs from the first EQG film!!!

Technically well it s an alicorn not unicorn. Only winged ponies are Pegasus or pegasi with horns without the wings unicorn and then earth ponies who don’t have both features and alocorns have all of these features

Technically they're not wrong; traditionally this would be a horned pegasus/ winged unicorn. "Alicorn" referring to n that is a g4 invention. The word alicorn used to refer to the material unicorn horn was made from.
Fun fact: Welcome to the Show is the most viewed MLP video ever on UA-cam, at over 300 million views.
Another fun fact: its time signature is 15/8. I think the odd meter contributes to the eerie and unnatural vibe of the sirens.
This was the only Gen 4 song I bought on iTunes lol. Love this moment in the movie so much that when I did a written list of my all time fav animated musical moments, this made #2. The list consisted of anime, Western cartoons, video games, and movies. Only Sailor Moon beat it out.

The Dazzlings were actually Sirens that were banished into this human world from the pony world by a certain pony wizard. Those crystals were their source of power.
And the one that came into the first song at the end is Sunset Shimmer. Or aka Shim Sham

They really need to listen to two of my personal favourites: “Play your part” and “the magic inside”, they’re beautiful songs with amazing vocals and I think they’d love them too

As for songs, I'd suggest "Better Way To Be Bad", "Flawless", and "Friend That You Need".

Shit man, out off all the animated shows and movies, I missed this one the most.
The way it got canceled was heartbreaking to me.
To clarify some confusion under our spell/friendship survives is in the sequel movie to the spin-off movie of the series
To fully understand it you will have to watch season 1 episode 1-26 and season 2 episode 1-26 and season 3 episodes 1-13 Equestria Girls 1( sunset shimmer is introduced here) and season 4 episode 1-26 and finally equestria girls

5:25 Glad you finally got around to covering this Song. One of my personal favorites from the Second Equestria Girls movie “Rainbow Rocks” I won’t spoil it for you but the general idea here is that the Girls with the Necklaces are the Villains and are trying to take over the world with the power of their hypnotic singing ( Sirens from Greek Mythology, but given what I’d like to call the EQG treatment so that it seamlessly blends in with the world established in the First movie as well as Friendship is Magic series. You’ll see why it happens when you get to the Season 7 finale.). Seems like someone from the animation team wanted to make a reference to “Scott Pilgrim vs The World” with respect to the music battle scenes. The Girl with the Red and Yellow hair is Sunset Shimmer and is an amazing character in her own right and after this movie became the MC of the whole EQG franchise. Won’t go into backstory because lots of spoilers from the First movie. Whenever the main cast members gain pony ears and longer hair it’s called “Pony-ing Up”. A sort of nod to Magical Girl Anime transformation sequences.

This got awfully close to the like goal, I frankly hope that's close enough xD It doesn't help that this spin off was never as popular as the original show. -Flawless ---Nicely sung and the Message is great!
-The Magic of Friendship Grows ---Every Fan of the show will littraly Cry... its the endsong of the Show, its like a love letter to all the fans
-The Magic Inside ---Sung by a Broadway Singer also with a full Orchestra
-A Kirin Tale ---full blown Musical sung also by a differet Broadway Singer
-Time to Be Awesome ---from the Movie
-Friendship Through the Ages ---from the Spinoff Show MLP EQG its a nice Homage to Music itself with different Music Epochs in one song
-You’re in My Head Like a Catchy Song ---A Song about the Parents of a main Character which are Dead (never sayed but heavily implied by the show)

There are soooo many good songs.
The first song, Welcome to the Show is being sung by creatures called Sirens. So you know "Siren Songs"? Yeah, that's them.
When they're humans you're in Equestria Girls, which is an alternate universe that's connected to the pony world. Instead of ponies, it's humans, and there's no magic. Well, there WAS no magic, but that's a whole movie, literally.
Anyway, the Sirens for reasons from the first movie recognized they had a chance to steal big magic and get their original power back, so this battle of the bands, which THEY mind controlled people into making happen, is how they got lots of people together to hear their corrupting song and also used the build up to the finals to gradually increase their power to be able to do it. So they are not possessed or taken over by those crystals, those crystals are the only way they can utilize their powers in this world (they were banished to this world from the pony world specifically because that world didn't have the magic they needed to cause any real harm) so when they break they basically become tone deaf and their magic is gone. Win.
Also, going to the good team. Twilight Sparkle, the main singer in that band, and Sunset Shimmer who is the girl that came in nearer the end to help sing, are both ponies from Equestria, they are not native to that world and neither of them are humans. If you walk through the portal to the human world, you'll take on your equivalent. Spike, a dragon in Equestria, becomes a dog in the human world. Everyone else are the human versions of Twilight's pony friends. The reason they all have these pony forms is because of pony magic that they have because first movie. Twilight and Sunset are the only ones that are really ponies though.
Second song, Big Night.... I mean it's really self explanatory.
Third song, Helping Twilight Win the Crown. This is from that first movie I kept mentioning. The first song is from the second movie, Rainbow Rocks.
So the point of this song is basically hype. Twilight, the pony remember, had her magic crown stolen by Sunset, she started out as a baddie. Things happen and the school's principal takes the crown and locks it up, and she'll only give it to the person who wins what's basically their version of prom queen, cause she thinks it's the crown for that, not a magical crown from another dimension. Which seems reasonable to me. So Twilight (who does not actually attend this school and appeared yesterday, but don't mind that) needs to get votes from students, but Sunset rules the school with an iron fist, even making the human versions of Twilight's friends hate each other. Twilight clears up the misunderstandings and this is how they build up hype for Twilight to win instead of Sunset.
I really recommend listening to the songs from the third movie. There's some real bops. The third movie is called Friendship Games.
Id recommend Vylet Pony's "Mad This Time". Its a really nice fan song that i think youd like.

Yeah the issue with having spin off movies (Which are considered canon) is the confusion of different universes and why the show about ponies has teenage girls and the same artstyle.

Honestly, I feel the equestria girls songs are kinda meh compared to the songs from the ponified mlp fim. The Magic Inside and that dj song from the 100th episode would be better to listen too. There's a bunch more that I feel are a lot better than the equstria girls movie. Of course they are good in its own way, but honestly are really bland in comparison.
