Even though it has been 55 years since the family made silage, it still brings back memories. There is something about silage videos that bring back smell memories.
Great video, as always, throughout its entirety. Such an unexpected welcome treasure to hear good and appropriate and enjoyable accompanying music starting circa minute 18, makes for a stellar video as a whole, alongside your good knowledgeable commentary.
Maybe you have covered this in a previous video, but I would like to see how they go about covering the silage pile with tarps and tires. Otherwise, I really enjoy your videos. Keep up the good work.
A video of covering the silage pile is on the list. I was thinking a corn silage video I did a few years ago at Convoy Dairy showed them covering part of the pile.
Mike this is real good video I would love to know how many cows they milk at this farm Mike. It is one big operation Thank you Mike I always enjoy watching your videos I never get tired of watching them Thank you GOD BLESS and keep up the good work.
My uncle always got the fields tested after we got corn done. Sometimes it wasn’t leached of nutrients, so we didn’t spread manure. Those fields might be okay.
There is a family dairy near Dalhart that you could see for miles. I doubt you could video. I am thinking it would be the largest in the US or close after current expansion. To utilize the milk they have a large cheese factory.
I thought it was humorous was knifing in manure while directly across the road high school football game going on. Come to watch a game ànd smell our 'dairy air
That pile/mound of silage is massive. How many acres does it take to build it? How many trailers loads? How many acres fit into one trailer? Good grief, I have questions. I like Mike. Happy subscriber 😊!
It would depend on the situation, on this operation where they are pumping what looks to be millions of gallons in the application window, you would need a lot of tanks and that many more people hauling from the lagoon to the application, on smaller operations you could probably do tanks or if you had a large enough application window.
Mike nice silage video. Have you ever come across after harvest or at harvest, farms loading directly into a train from a truck with just kernels of corn or soy? Only saw it once on how farms work on you tube! If you have a link?
How many tons of siledge are those trailers carring? Also the trailers have three axles with really large tires. Do the tires on the front axle turn with the tractor?? Or am I just seeing things.
Hi Mike Less great video. I have a question if forage harvester operator needs a rest room break does he switch out with tractor driver & to keep the operation moving or how do they work that out ?
The neighbors are getting entertained.👍👍

That’s a beautiful farm. Blown away they are pumping that manure from 3 miles away 🤯
Another action-packed video!
Thanks a lot for that! 😊👍🏻
That's awesome that an operation that size is not a corporate farm.
Great video Mike. There is a lot of iron out there!
The video is really good, thank you for sharing ❤
Their front yard looks a ball diamond!
WOW!! What huge operation! I can’t begin the number of employees it must take to run it. Excellent video Mike.

I’ve ran their dragline for them when they where a smaller dairy just starting out

Great video Mike 👍. I went from north central Indiana up to Beloit WI this week to see some friends, saw a lot of chopping going on up that way.
Great video.
The claas jaguar is a corn eatin son of a gun
When the corn is finished its time to spread some manure after
My uncle always got the fields tested after we got corn done. Sometimes it wasn’t leached of nutrients, so we didn’t spread manure. Those fields might be okay.
Yesterday I was chopping ear silage
A few thousand ton of silage!!!!!!! (maybe more than I think)

looks so modern bro
you should check out congers lake farms when they do corn silage. they have a big operation
I’ve done two corn silage videos at Congress Lake Farms 2020 and 2021
Man . . . I am Soooo glad this isn't Smellovision . . .

Would there be any yield differences where the drag line tool bar inside wing turns
Mike, is it more cost effictive dragging all that hose compared to a tank? Great video!

Hay Mike what is the largest silage pile you ever saw
I have noticed a lot of large dairy farms even around me will have one or two small field of corn around their barns, do have any idea why that is?
Mike nice silage video. Have you ever come across after harvest or at harvest, farms loading directly into a train from a truck with just kernels of corn or soy? Only saw it once on how farms work on you tube! If you have a link?
isn't there some disadvantages on using a tracked tractor on the pile? Don';t the rollers get gummed up?
Did anyone noticed hares running away from Forage harvester @ 22:09
How many tons of siledge are those trailers carring? Also the trailers have three axles with really large tires. Do the tires on the front axle turn with the tractor?? Or am I just seeing things.
The first and the last axle steer in opposite directions (called Cross-Steer or X-steer), the center axle doesnt.
Hi Mike Less great video. I have a question if forage harvester operator needs a rest room break does he switch out with tractor driver & to keep the operation moving or how do they work that out ?
The PIPE on the forager is automatic or manual? Because If that thing is manual, oh LORD a hell of workload on that thing
I’m curious on how many acres a day they are chopping?
I'll have to see if I can find out. I suppose a lot of it would depend on the field size as they have some pretty big fields and some smaller patches.
How many cows do they milk?
I'll let someone who works for this farm answer that. I have a fairly good idea is all.
Mike, I know you are so you down at Louisville, Kentucky?
Great video Mike 😊
