  • The concepts of band structures are extended into three dimensions over the next three lectures. In this lecture we look at the band structure of polonium, a metal which adopts a simple primitive cubic structure. This lecture was designed and delivered by Patrick Woodward for use in the course Solid State Chemistry (Chem 7330) at Ohio State University.

    These band diagrams were always mystifying. By bringing in discussion of orbitals (e.g. s and p), this helped clear up the mystery a little bit.
