Hey. I’m trying to say this, in the most respectful way. But isn’t it true. That AKC doesn’t recognize Silver as a Labrador Retriever, color? Because the silver trait came from, the diluted gene, that originated from crossing Labradors to Weimaraner. This is just a question… I’m not bashing.. thanks.
No, it isn’t true. AKC doesn’t recognize ANY of the Labrador dilutes. Charcoal (dilute black), Champaign (dilute yellow), Silver (dilute chocolate). AKC refers to them as their base colors only. None of these have anything to do with Weimaraner genes. That’s a story from the 1950’s that has no basis in genetic fact. Great question!
