Some of the Scan Eagle guys were on our base at Ripley and Cole in Tarin Kowt , Afghanistan. Good guys. Know they did good job and provided good intel to SF. One guy was real tall from Azle, TX down the road from me. Can't remember his name. We used to flick crap at each other a lot. Hope they are all safe.

Mr. Sofian,
Can you please tell mi where I can find specification for this system, because I have foundes some, but it is different, so now I dont know what is correct!!! Thanks

In conclusion, the difference in specifications is returned to two versions or more of scaneagle
Seems rather pricey. It looks not much different than a model/hobby drone. I'm sure it is, and I'm sure it's got good optics, but I can't see why it is so expensive, it nearly costs its weight in gold. The case it comes in is cool too the way it lifts up so you can assemble it.
Worth every cent.
Thanks for sharing this one
That is some cool shit!
I used to fly model aircraft, fixed wing, helicopters and jets and OMG it's come a long way in the last 10 years
Glad to see my CH products gear being used there. :D
This is so cool!
awesome !!
We had a pneumatic launcher that we wanted to test and we decided the a variable load weight would give us practice in launching different UAVs. We used pumpkins. Surprised they held together during launch but the landing was predictable.
very nice
I was wondering how they handled landing, I did not expect the fly paper method
Was this shot in one of the GCC countries?
We're watching you.
gooooood
Nice... Technology
It is a vertical cable (rope) and it may land no more 150 lb., and it worse than horizontal one (see patent 8,313,057) which has landing weight of a airplane in excess of 20000 kg.
Is it you who invented it ? :D You have the same name as the patent owner lol
Wings are very strong !
My best friend is in this business. Same place too.
Tiny portable drone, huge fecking great launch system.
That looks a harsh landing :P
Now this drone is talibans hands and now they are going to sell to pakistan and china for reverse enginnering
@Shinshocks same way in osama bin ladin operation stealth helicopter US army leave behind and pakistan and china work on it now they have same type of helicopters and stealth jets made in pakistan .....technology transferd
Lol it never landed. 😂😂
Talk about an overengineered launch system
Because as i know, it is made to be carried on ships easily, as this uav is for navies, coast guards and all
Now this drone is talibans hands and now they are going to sell to pakistan and china for reverse enginnering

Is that the best method for retrieving the drone?
It seems like it may be unreliable or could easily damage it.
why does he uses a " circular saw " to turn on the propellers ? Is it better to do it that way rather than the remote controlled way ?
Not quite a rotary saw, more of a pneumatic impact or drill.
If they start it manually (being a gas engine) this doesn’t require a quite heavy battery and starter, by winding up to speed a petrol engine if the ignition circuit is closed you can actually cause it to achieve combustion (similar to how a model t started or even a lot of modern prop planes).
I’m sure it still has a good battery, but it wouldn’t need to be a large one capable of starting an engine
Expensive - yes. Because it is a whole system and not only RC plane. (BTW. it looks very tough).
IMO it is bit too complicated as for field operations. A catapult, arrest system... I think those systems should be as compact as the plane container. The plane should be able to take off from rocky road and land on parachute.
I like very much the way how they connect wings to fuselage with retractable servo wires / ribbon.
cheers
tjblues01 there are other UAVs that don't need a catapult and arresting system. Those can't fly for 24 hours though. It does what it was designed to do very well.
In 2020 you can build something like this for just 500 dollars( excluding the flir camera if it has one).
@@mihaiilie8808 For $500 you can get a "park flyer" made of aerofoam with cheap radio... Decent quality FVP planes able to fly miles away from a pilot are way more expensive.
@@tjblues01 this is just an fpv wing and its 2020 wich in case you dont know ,powerfull transmitters and receivers ,well over the legal limit cost about 30 dollars on Ebay .
For less than 500 dollars i can build you a diesel electric hexacopter able to fly 3-4 hours and do better reconaisance ,take off and land better and a wing like this one would be a lot cheaper.
Specs?
whhooaa too cool
Can it carry a gopro?
nice thing for Ukraine. thanks, partners!

I’m sure Scan Eagle will play a part in liberating Ukraine from the rashist invaders!
Slava Ukrayini ❤️🇺🇦
Brazilian navy bought some of this system. It will be more difficult to operate it on rough sea.
Autonomy of this thing??
I was reading on twitter that Afghan Mujahideen has almost more than 10 of these drones and they will be sending 1 to china and russia for reverse engineering.
to be fair China probably has more advanced drones the Mavic is made their
@@blakespower I didn't know dji was made in china. But personally i would say china is after US military tech cause america has the most advanced weapons and military tech right now.
Beutful durn
Thats the way commercial aircraft should take off and land!!
Yeet!
We captured 4 of these today in Afghanistan, I came here to learn how these work so that we can use them against Afghan Army.
where did you guys put that catapult thingy? We are unable to find it here.
never mind. afghan army surrendered without any fight. now we get to sell these to china in scrap.
@@bobobobo3142 They entered service in 2005, China has way more advanced drones than these
US Drones Technology is very complicated to use. Turkish one is in 3 minutes ready to fly. And they don't need net catchers. They landing anywhere. I thing this drone is not created for mobilty using anywhere.
I thought that looked like KAF ;)
So Boeing didn't even bother to add two little wheels for the UAV container?
Wonderful idea of fool-proof assembling!

I think these small UAVs are more versatile than the big ones that are almost as large as a fighter.
But can they travel long distance like big ones?
@@aleonflex6611 no of course not but they are intended for a different mission profile.

Pretty cool I want one lol
Yeah, but you'll have to wait 'till christmas.
How can I save this video?
Google it u dumb fuck
el dron con todo su equipo para hacerlo despegar etc. resulta ser tan aparatoso como un avión de vigilancia.. supuesta mente no debería ser así.. debería ser mucho mas sencillo y portátil..
But does it have the wifi? And 5G?
It's dirt cheap; $3.2 million. 4 UAVs, a catapult and arrest system.
and china can just make a version of their own for a cost of 20 times cheaper..
@@afm2084 First, they have to steal technology from somebody else, then they can make those thing 20 x cheaper. Bro, China has a big problem to build they own and reliable jet engine capable of super cruise (i.e. sustained supersonic flight)
@@tjblues01 its because they dont want slow jet engines and they build fast ones that dont resist much.
Like a sport car vs a family car where the sport car wears faster than the family car.
If you want slow planes just use propellers.
@@mihaiilie8808 And that's what I said. China has long history of problems with design of fast and reliable jet engines.
@@tjblues01 you cant have fast and reliable.Fast planes like Migs ,fry the motors fast. They are build for war not to train your pilot skills in them.
JUST READ THE COAST GUARD HAS TESTED THIS AND WILL BE USING THEM ON THE CUTTERS.
Cool landing😂
Is there not a more efficient way of launching these things than using an entire trailer slingshot?
Can we use it at night?
could you please tell me about the price of this UAV? Thanks
shhh its in the black ha ha

How can I save this vedio?
add "ss" before word youtube in this adress
Back in the day, was an Army drone control systems tech in W. Germany, in build-up reaction to Cuban Missile Crisis. Was first-generation transistorized circuitry. Used JATO launching from simple folding rack. Surveillance drones were flying camera platforms, no video. Recovery used parachute deployment which switched-off engine. Photo techs then retrieved camera and film canister. Small remote control console on portable stand was for line-of-sight, but accompanying radar trailer was guidance for low-visibility and over-local-horizon control...again, no video. Drone was about 12-ft.+ in length, about same wing span, front prop, loud gas engine. JATO launching was telltale, could give away location far easier than new pneumatic launch technique. Sixty years of change and much better.
video games!
I build these.
I don't get how it catches the wire, I don't see a hook?
Frank Pirolo Small titanium hooks on each wingtip, just under the winglet. You can see it at 1:06 and 1:30 when he's attaching the wing.
Frank Pirolo I never even considered how it landed, this mechanism was unexpected.
I just graduated from pilot course this day

Expensive? Depends what you compare it with. A manned recon aircraft? Think SR71 or U2. Even a Piper Cub with a GoPro and a recruit - it costs. A spy satellite?
If you only compare it to other radio control aircraft, hobby stuff, yes, it's a bit over the top. But that's not a reasonable comparison, because that's not what it is.
very complicated operation..
Cool drone, cool video, but we don't really need to see replays of the guy walking up the steps from multiple views.
LOL
Yo
The way to launch and landing very troublesome !
Why the hell would they use ribbons to connect the electronics going to the wing when they can just use fixed connectors/plugs to make them modular 0_0
JayR Robles you think fixed connectors or plugs would last many recoveries with that arresting gear?
Maybe they know why. Give them a call and tell them what you know.
Как всё допотопно.... И это современный дрон...мля...
The people who think these things up and design them are damned clever
Amen. But realize how this is Nineties' tech. The Scan Eagle itself was born in 2002. More tech advances are likely since.
isn't this the coolest damn thing ?!? incredible endurance time for these drones ... something like 29 hours it can remain aloft
29 hours. holy moley
Kevin Olesik 24 hours at sea-level. Places at higher density altitudes like Afghanistan or higher heat like Iraq, it's much less than that due to launch weight/pressures.
Its more like 16 hours if it carries a payload and yes, the altitude at which it flies also affects its time in the air quite a lot. The higher it flies, the thinner the air, the more fuel it will burn to keep it in the air. Still an amazing looking machine though.
***** Shoot, 16 hours is plenty of time for what it is designed to though right?
Its designed for surveillance so 12 to 16 hours is pretty good. Its too small to carry a weapon payload.
cheap and efficient UAV, vietnam is purchasing 6 of them, they will definitely work on china threat
Captain philips? Anyone?
