Thanks for watching! Be sure to subscribe and give this video the thumbs up - it really helps us out! What strategy will you use to take down the Warlock in XCOM 2: War of the Chosen?
XCOM he creates a small army when he is on field may be a skirmisher would be his strongest counter when he is backed up with gunslingers and assault rangers. If I know I am going up against him the mind sheald would be a valuable asset. another tactic would be by bypass his army with the reaper. or if you're near lost draw them in to distract him
Such a shame, I wanted to mod the game, have 10 soldiers and he appears to the royal surprise bitch ive got ten guys in overwatch and if im lucky one of them will actually hit him.

I think they are supposed to be like this, very comic like and somewhat annoying, so you can celebrate after defeating him, and it feels even more humiliating to be defeated by a goof like that so be careful! Original 94 xcom felt much the same, even though there was no speech.
ThunderPSyker - I have a very bad new for you.... Xcom is actually the TAU !!! xcom.com/xcom-2-stats/ Look at cost of war *" War is hell, Commander. Let us never forget our fallen comrades and the sacrifices they made for the "GREATER GOOD". "* Sorry kitty =( .
My First Impressions: This is going to be the nemesis for my campaign. The assassin I can respect, because they at least say things like "Maybe I will allow your soldiers to live" and "Good Luck Commander", as though they were more of a genuine rival more than the kind of person who would absolutely not give any leniency, in other words the Warlock. Now I need to see the last of these Generals.
Chosen can only be killed in their stronghold mission - defeating them outside of it will simply lead to them retreating, You need to do missions to get the stronghold mission, therefore, you will experience the pain no matter what, especially as the other Chosen can still attack you even while you're zeroing down on another one. They will also attack you in the strategic layer, where you mostly have no defense.
Lemur Dawid You weren't scared shitless in the trailer for the Cyberdisk beforr X-Com 2 released? I remember watching that crap and hating myself for wanting to support such self torture.
You can't actually kill Chosen outside of their stronghold mission, they're not like the alien rulers. If you bring down their HP they'll simply escape and attack you again on another mission, only this time they'll start countering your strategies according to Jake Solomon. As such, if you were to eliminate one with a Repeater, it'd probably come back with an immunity to repeaters. You have to gather special intel and help the resistance group that specific Chosen is fighting to get a chance at attacking their stronghold, and only then will you get a chance to actually put them down. While you're focusing on one of them however, the others will still try and attack you if they get a chance, especially as they are competing with each other. These spacekids won't be going down without a fight.
Not even luck is on our side... It will take skill to do so. My armour is singed from the fires of battle.... This pointy hatted Fob will just be another head in my Armoury and another piece of armour / weapon for my soldiers.
"Commander! This... "chosen" has supernatural abilities like resurrecting the dead from another realm! And he can do some sort of brain storm! What do we do against that?!" "..." "..." "Flashbang that thing to death... AND DO IT BEFORE IT LAYS EGGS!"
Personally I think they've so far all looked completely awesome and it makes sense they look human there been meshed with human DNA in this timeline remember and us with theirs. And I can't wait to play this looks like an amazing expansion to an amazing game.
Okay, didn't really expect the Warlock to be so dogmatic and religious, and those psi-zombie bombs really brush me the wrong way. and that's the way I want XCOM to brush me.
The Warlock is my favourite Chosen out of the 3 and i believe lore wise he is the strongest. However in game he's not as powerful as you may think. That's why i had to rely on a lot of mods and tuning to make the Warlock truly formidable in combat to the point i don't wanna run into him. By giving him access to other perks and abilities he's able to do much more. For example i use some of the abilities form Long War of the Chosen that gives him the ability to deflect shots. I have other perks that grand shields on missed shots and health regeneration (which deflected shots count towards shields) The Warlock also has Null Lance at level 3 and dimensional rift at level 4. Oh and i also gave them Ruler reaction. It's modified to which they have a 75% chance to react on offensive actions like shooting and so on and a 25% on defensive actions like hunker down and overwatch. But i think increased Health + Ruler reaction is one of the bigger mods you'd need for them to be a bit more aggressive in a fight but those perks and abilities help a ton. I think base game Warlock is just a tad bit underwhelming and the only true Chosen who's a problem is the Assassin but eventually if you get enough soldiers and tech they can be taken out in one turn so mods are highly recommended on PC if you wanna increase their threat level. It is however mostly up to you to pick and choose what might work together because not all Chosen mods on the steam workshop will work together so it's good to experiment.
Foolish Warlock. . . It was *I* who allowed ADVENT to recruit you by purchasing this DLC. I merely thought you could provide a morale boost to our Rookies. Due to save scumming, every single one of your pitiful threats and actions are unfolding according to my design.
As nice as it is for there to be an afterlife in the XCOM universe, it comes as no surprise that the Aliens decided to screw with any sense of sanctity it had.
Inbefore this guy is pitted against a squad of PsiOp troops, each of them having Solace and Fortress along Null Lances. Who's the tough guy now, huh tough guy?
Actually, Sectoids do that in X-Com II. They re-animate the corpses of both other aliens and fallen X-Com operatives. This guy is more of a summoner of spirits..so in essence the same, but with a slightly different flavor.
He usually tried to daze your key unit to stall the time. My templar are main target because she must to goes cqc on him. Fortunately he must confront us face to face making him easy to focus fire. Use frost bomb on him and bury him with all you have got. SPARK and their overdrive and reaper's banish are also effective.
Interestingly enough, this guy was a cake walk compared to the assassin. The hunter was about equal.. but that no triggering overwatch attack of the assassin, then vanishing caused me all sort of fits. Mind shield helps a lot, send a squad packing those to his fortress and it is GG.
Lol for me Warlock is the hardest to deal with his psychic zombies spawning every 2 turns. And if you couldn't get enough shots on him on your first try he uses his spectral army and its a pain in the ass trying to deal with them while other advent troops are present.
Have to admit, he was a pain to kill but his rifle makes for quite the appealing trophy. Shame we couldn't scavenge his brain and use it as the focal point for an extremely powerful psionic amplifier, but not complaining in the slightest..
Out of all Chosen, warlock has probably caused me the most trouble. Assassin and Hunter at least fight head on, but this prick likes to stay put and spam spectral zombies at you. First fight lasted over an hour because I had the misfortune of fighting him in area controlled by the lost.
I bought Xcom 2 when it was in a Humble Bundle several months ago. Only last month did I actually start playing it. And then the major DLC was announced. I'm not sure if this is good timing or bad timing for me, because now I'm going to end up waiting until the DLC is out to play again lol.
"C...commander, I meant I'd make you a mind slave. Not THAT kind of slave, take that ball gag out of your mouth and are those assless leather chaps you're wearing?"
Whenever I'll be able to play it in more than 20FPS, medium settings on much-better-than-recommended system I might consider buying it. Now go and optimize your game, more than a year after it came out!!!
last I checked mindshields don't give your soldiers resistance to being spammed with resurrected (fully armed) enemies or being exploded by intangible zombies.
Not yet. Of the featured big baddies, Assassin & now Warlock have been given their feature videos, Hunter's video is left with the Templar's feature video.
I change my mind Templar for this guy why did I even want to use.. Wait a minute there ghost zombies that seem to be summoned really fast and a bunch of them so doesn't that mean they would have low health and skirmisher with battle lord I think it was, would keep getting more actions until there all dead he misses or there's a strong one left
Hm... So, while the Assassin focuses on swiftly moving around, kidnapping and murdering your troops left and right, the Warlock... Uses PSI to raise zombies and mind control your dudes. "Chosen" my ass, he's just an overgrown Sectoid! And probably piss-weak to flashbangs as well, in that case.
Thanks for watching! Be sure to subscribe and give this video the thumbs up - it really helps us out!
What strategy will you use to take down the Warlock in XCOM 2: War of the Chosen?
XCOM grapple and flank him from up high?
turn of iron man
Shoot him
XCOM he creates a small army when he is on field may be a skirmisher would be his strongest counter when he is backed up with gunslingers and assault rangers.
If I know I am going up against him the mind sheald would be a valuable asset.
another tactic would be by bypass his army with the reaper.
or if you're near lost draw them in to distract him
I'll kill them all...with a power rangers based team
that's a big-ass turret you've got here...
it would be shame if...
...someone would hack it
This needs to bean option now. Super turret 50 damage crit.
This Railgun? Gifted to the Chapter.
SPESS MAHRINES!! TODAY, WHE STEAL TEH ENEMY!
StrikeNoir105E Ad Victoriam
youre supposed to put the 3 dots before hack it
He sure talks a lot for someone who will end up as a trophy in my Avenger.
Milan Jaržábek make him into a talking fish trophy!
Or a rug, that way if he turn dustily you just have to bet him with a stick.
Layne Warner I prefer a quote from the Lion King. Whenever he gets dirty you can take him out and beat him :)
Don't worry, be happy.
Cpt. Vor would be proud.
"I will learn your weakness from your own soldiers"
my only weakness is RNG fool
Careful, they might learn about that and go all Gurren Lagann on your ass, and start affecting probability.
best reply wow
Nobody can fuck with RNGesus. Sadly, people always get it only when it's too late.
Warlock: Funny. We Chosen have procedural generated strengths and weaknesses.
Oh yes.
WE *ARE* THE RNG.
"The RNG will decide your fate."
"I AM the RNG!"
Warlock: I"AM ALL POWERFULL! YOU WILL BE A SLAVE TOWARDS THE ELDERS AND I WILL CLAIM THIS WORLD!!!!

Repeater triggers, executed.
HentaiMaster 9000 Yeah, cause the repeater always trigger when you want it to
You can't actually kill Chosen outside their stronghold mission, so no anticlimactic instant takedowns early on.
Such a shame, I wanted to mod the game, have 10 soldiers and he appears to the royal surprise bitch ive got ten guys in overwatch and if im lucky one of them will actually hit him.
I imagine he won't have particularly high defence. Not compared to the other 2. So many of those 10 shots should hit. Otherwise you are doomed
When the emo kid finds out that you could hang out but you said you were busy.

Original 94 xcom felt much the same, even though there was no speech.
No enemies shall escape my power of Savescumming
whats save scumming?
reloading your savegame in order to avoid losing a soldier or get a better result.
doesnt every1 do that?
Nah, a lot of people don't like doing it, and that's why Ironman mode exists in XCOM.
i thought savescumming was using alt + f4 in ironman mode.
Were those spectral skeletons I see?
Bloody hell, Firaxis, I don't think frightening your audience to death will be good for sales!

Oh, look, a repeater.
Not gonna work bro only way to take them out for good is Invading there base A repeater might save you One mission But UH not every mission
Chosen can only be killed in their stronghold mission - defeating them outside of it will simply lead to them retreating, You need to do missions to get the stronghold mission, therefore, you will experience the pain no matter what, especially as the other Chosen can still attack you even while you're zeroing down on another one. a reaper with banish and superior repeater + expanded mag...

This is starting to look cool, we get new slightly OP classes, but we also get slightly OP enemies in return

I'm more interested in the squad relationships thing. Will we get a look in that or is it just a stat boost and a minor story thing?
can't wait to get back into XCOM 2
While he was talking I developed mind shields and hired Urdnot Wrex.
These guys are almost as melodramatic as the Uruks of Shadow of Mordor

No thanks. I just started a game on beginner after 2 years. It’s difficult enough as is

so the message he says is: "NO ONE CAN DEFEAT ME"

"Going to need blaster launchers. Lots of them. And a few shredder cannons."
The other one we saw was kinda spooky but manageable, but this guy? He scares me. I don't even want to think of what he does at max power.
As nice as it is for there to be an afterlife in the XCOM universe, it comes as no surprise that the Aliens decided to screw with any sense of sanctity it had.
STUN THIS GUY EVERY TURN
Inbefore this guy is pitted against a squad of PsiOp troops, each of them having Solace and Fortress along Null Lances.
Who's the tough guy now, huh tough guy?
then he adapts the ability to reflect psionic area attacks.
Warlock would just mind scorch and mind control.
This DLC is going to be pure gold! I'm hyped :D
ofc, only if well balanced at day 1 :)
He reminds me of a necromancer, I never thought it would happen in XCOM universe
Actually, Sectoids do that in X-Com II. They re-animate the corpses of both other aliens and fallen X-Com operatives.
This guy is more of a summoner of spirits..so in essence the same, but with a slightly different flavor.
He is a spectral necromancer, creating armies of beings made of pure psionic energy
our biggest weapon is save scumming. Manipulating times, only the commander can do it.
I thought the Assassin was bad enough, but now they have black magic, too!?
edgy
Interestingly enough, this guy was a cake walk compared to the assassin. The hunter was about equal.. but that no triggering overwatch attack of the assassin, then vanishing caused me all sort of fits. Mind shield helps a lot, send a squad packing those to his fortress and it is GG.
Lol for me Warlock is the hardest to deal with his psychic zombies spawning every 2 turns. And if you couldn't get enough shots on him on your first try he uses his spectral army and its a pain in the ass trying to deal with them while other advent troops are present.
Its pretty late and at first I thought it said "Use of Taco" and dammit I am hungry now
Cant wait for this expansion to realease! :D
Good lord Darin de Paul is a fantastic voice actor :D
Psi-raised zombie *bombs*... curse you, Warlock - that's cheating!!!
Would you like any cheese with that Ham?
No? How about a half dozen shredder cannons!
For all that talk, I hope he drops an Elerium core
These guys probably have mental fortress like the avatar right so no flashbangs. I guess put a couple slingers behind him and fanfire him to death.
Stock up on flashbangs Commander, you'll need them.
I sooo want to watch NorthernLion play this and mess up spectacularly lmao xD
At 1:25 is that a giant magnetic coil gun or is the warlock really happy to see me!
Can't wait for Titan and Hunter!
their rivalry is their weakness
Have to admit, he was a pain to kill but his rifle makes for quite the appealing trophy. Shame we couldn't scavenge his brain and use it as the focal point for an extremely powerful psionic amplifier, but not complaining in the slightest..
He looks so much like a wraith from Stargate Atlantis! (Except with the psi powers)
That music is haunting...
Is that Darin DePaul?! FOR HONOUR AND GLORY?!!
I'm about to go make sure the avenger is covered by my insurance.
You're gonna have a hard ass time if you dont know how to play the base game yet.
At least take me out on a 5 star restaurant date. before you go kinky on me, Waaarlock... >.* #UnzUnzUnz #Redlobster #CallMeMaybe?
"C...commander, I meant I'd make you a mind slave. Not THAT kind of slave, take that ball gag out of your mouth and are those assless leather chaps you're wearing?"
Onlooker: "What have I just witnessed." *backs away slowly. Later that night a body was found
Whenever I'll be able to play it in more than 20FPS, medium settings on much-better-than-recommended system I might consider buying it. Now go and optimize your game, more than a year after it came out!!!
Like the assassin inside look, this is another anti smoking advert. That voice is what you will get if you smoke for too long.
Alright. Now this is serious. Get me Engineering. Going to tell Shen that I need 5 additional SPARK units.
Imagine if he brought back long dead soldiers to fight you.
"Facetank? Is that you?"
that looks like it might be a thing with him. any troopers of your's he kills end up being summons later.
That's a nice plan you've got there. It'd be a shame if you ran into... a shotgun ambush.
He knows where you are and spawn spectral zombies
We already have a counter for this guy, it's called the 'Mind Shield' and it'll negate like, most of his debuff powers
last I checked mindshields don't give your soldiers resistance to being spammed with resurrected (fully armed) enemies or being exploded by intangible zombies.
but Fortress does! (with the exploding part, anyways)
Now that was amazing. Truly better than the assiain trailer
Nice psionics you have there.
It would be a shame if someone were to send a 6 spark squad...
Warlock: nice sparks you have there, it would be a shame if someone sent walking bombs made of psionic energy at them
a much better vo than the assassin that's for damn sure
You talk big, I'll remember to bring a psi shield or two
...Up until the adaptive aspect of the Chosen leads ot his abilities bypassing Psi-Shields. Oops!
Then he sends a psionic apparition of a hand giving you the middle finger right into the mind shield
The psionic puppet-shadows can fking self destruct?!
The captions really aren't synced up well.
hard to believe this is Ardyn Izunia
1:19 another avenger defense operation CONFIRMED.
Looking good on the Warlock :) now, show me the Templar and Hunter and then we will be in business
Didn't they already do the hunter?
Hunter is a chosen, you're think of the Reapers.
I'm pretty fucking glad the 50,000 year cycle is coming to an end, we could use Sovereign going all "VANGUARD OF YOUR DESTRUCTION" on the Ayyy's.
Nope, Hunter. Check the website my friend
Not yet. Of the featured big baddies, Assassin & now Warlock have been given their feature videos, Hunter's video is left with the Templar's feature video.
More fantasy and cartoon is what we need in XCom!

I think that's the same VA for the Council Rep?
So hyped for this
I change my mind Templar for this guy why did I even want to use.. Wait a minute there ghost zombies that seem to be summoned really fast and a bunch of them so doesn't that mean they would have low health and skirmisher with battle lord I think it was, would keep getting more actions until there all dead he misses or there's a strong one left
Gul'Dan, is that you?
NB4 He gains an immunity to flash bangs
+Ian Bailey They're still zombies though, slow moving and restricted to melee (or well, slightly increased melee range in this case).
