Because of that, it stands to reason she was evil before her death, and Quan Chi just revived her without the memories of her being killed by him

IMO this is not as much as a new story as whatever her deluded revenant, resurrected evil self thinks. Most revenants are pretty irrational. A good, original Sindel wouldn't have served Shang Tsung.

Quan Chi killing her doesn't explain the protective veil on Earthrealm. I mean, come on, are we really expected to believe that QUAN CHI of all people would want to protect Earthrealm? The only beef I have with the new backstory is if she was always evil, then why did she cast the spell preventing shao khan from invading earthrealm? It’s a serious plot hole
It was always the plot orchestrated by Quan Chi and Shinnok from the beginning... The spell was cast by Quan Chi and he blamed Sindel for doing it and then committing suicide so that Shao Kahn couldn't invade earth without a Mortal Kombat, and so Shao Kahn would be taken out of the way of the fallen god's plans. It is worth remembering that even Kronika was afraid of Sindel's powers, if we add to that Shao Kahn's powers, it was dangerous for the ancient gods and the titans that this couple would be united.

I was just thinking this same exact thing. Keep in mind that when the merger happened with the past and future, Kung Lao just beat Shang Tsung and Quan Chi. Sindel was revived after the 2nd tournament in order for Shao Kahn to try and merge Earthrealm. I believe Sindel is still brainwashed by Quan Chi which explains that god awful ending.

The brainwash effect must've worn off because remember in mkx revenant sindel was telling Jax how quan chi reunited her with kitana and she was happy and that jax could come be a family with them? The evil Sindel was made for Mortal kombat 9 to Mortal Kombat 11 obviously due to how Kronika restarted time after the Battle of Armageddon. Kronika also mentioned to Revenant Liu Kang and Revenant Kitana that restarting time can change events and people in many different ways. Also, the plot for Mortal Kombat 12 is leaked and Onaga might be the next main antagonist for the game.
In the original timeline,Sindel didn't kill herself to create a protection for earthrealm, she did it to escape Shao Kahn , it was a bit selfish,but it create a redemption opportunity
Ya know, it would've been better if this Sindel was made for a DLC story arc, where the Sindel we know and love returns and has a heart warming reunion with Kitana, but then there's a distortion in the time space continuum. Which causes this new Sindel to appear from an alternate universe. That would've been the smart thing to do because that way NRS wouldn't have to ruin her character without discarding her previous background.
The thing people have to remember with Sindel is she's was under Shao Kahn's control at the time, so its possible that he implanted false memories in her to better control her. So unless its stated otherwise I'd say take her new morales with a pinch of salt.
Ok, don’t tear me apart for breaking your hearts, because I love old Sindel as well, but: if Kronika has been manipulating/restarting time over and over again to create her version of perfection, thereby creating multiple different timelines, it’s not so much of a stretch to imagine the CURRENT Sindel as a version OBVIOUSLY of a different timeline. Play Mk11 aftermath, and it suddenly becomes apparent how often the timeline has been changed. Nether realm didn’t screw us, they gave us an alternate universe, of which there are many. It makes all the inconsistencies from before suddenly make a semblance of sense, because each character makes different decisions and each character changes, based upon the timeline they’re following AND what events may have been in place. So with that logic in place, old Sindel “exists” just as the new one does.

I know people don't like it, but when Shang Tsung restored Sindel in Aftermath using the soul chamber, this was our first introduction to the Edenian queen Sindel. When she was introduced in MK3, she had white eyes after being brought back by Shang and the Shadow Priests. In Deception, the spell had worn off, but she was still like an undead zombie. Same goes for MK9 Sindel. In MKX, she's a revanant. Her first appearance in MK11 is a revanent. After being restored, it is the first time we see a Sindel with normal eyes indicating this was her original state.
The Original Timeline and Current Timeline are separate and different due to the changes Kronika made. In Mortal Kombat 9, Raiden's time message to his past self was actually to his past self in a different timeline.

I’m sorry I may be the only one but I’m in love with this Sindel. To me her new story is cohesive with the old one because she could have lied from the very beginning. D’Vorah probably believed she killed Jared because she was force to by Shao Kahn to cover for Sindel.. that’s just my opinion on this.
I absolutely hate the retcon they did with Sindel but I have an in universe theory about it all (I know it could become non-canon later on): The Sindel in MK9 and X had the same backstory as the original timeline, but in MK11 Kronika changed her so she would have another minion to fight against Raiden. Since Shao Kahn was one of said minions, he probably requested Kronika to add her, but Kronika changed Sindel’s backstory so Shao Kahn could have a loyal queen for his empire in the New Era thus keeping his part of the deal with the Time Titan. But by the sounds of Sindel’s ending it backfired on both Kronika and Shao Kahn with Sindel becoming Empress of Time and ruling over all realms. Since Liu Kang and Kitana now sculpt the sands of time (in one of the endings) it’s possible that the Sindel we all know and love could come back. EDIT: Aftermath has happened and has debunked this theory...and has made the retcon canon Fuck You NRS
I'm kind of obsessed with the way the new Sindel is portrayed. I do miss the old, good queen. But I do enjoy this new evil queen that, as Spawn puts it, is clearly the one running the show. Shao Kahn is clearly just her puppet and I love that for her. You'd think Shao wouldn't listen to anyone but he only listens to her. Because she's much more powerful. After all, she is one of the few beings that, without the crown, can canonically harm Cetrion.
In my opinion this "new sindel" makes sense for the reboot timeline since well think about for the reboot timeline I mean we all we had for judgement of sindel's character in mk9 was quan chi saying she committed suicide to protect earthrealm Quan chi is not exactly reliable seeing how he was loyal to shinnok the entire time and also her actions in MKX shows she liked being a revanat and being evil which could show she was not a nice person to begin with. Also shao khan seemed genuinely surprised about the reason she committed sucide and also the only other thing that said sindel was good was her arcade ending in 9 which is not canon.
The end of Armageddon altered the timeline and effectively put the later games in an alternate reality. Since the changes resulted in a change of the motivation/desired end state of Shinnok (an elder god), it is not unreasonable to expect there to be other changes. I view the changes to Sindel to be a result of this, and therefore not a contradiction of the original storyline and canon. I personally enjoy the change, as I find villains more interesting and entertaining than heroes, and I feel her personality now better fits her power set. Of course, this is all my personal opinion.
WAIT. if you pay close attention to sindel’s face when she screams in mk3, you can see it change to this undead / skeleton looking thing. it looks really creepy and i’m just now noticing it 😳
The retcon makes ZERO sense. This Sindel wouldn’t do ANY of the things that the Sindel we know from past games would do. This Sindel wouldn’t care about her daughter the way the Past Sindel did (this Sindel only “cared” to keep Kitana loyal, where in past games, when she wasn’t corrupted by outside forces, that CLEARLY wasn’t the case) nor would she of sacrificed herself to keep Earthrealm from meeting Edenia’s fate (1. Why would someone who only truly gives a damn about themselves do something like that for someone else? This was something CONFIRMED in MK9 btw that happened sometime before the events of the tournament. 2. Why would she care if Earthrealm met the same fate as Edenia if SHE’S the reason Edenia fell in the first place?). It’s just baffling how NRS can’t even follow their own damn continuity sometimes. Even retcons have to make sense in the franchise they happen in.
I swear they did it because of the pre fight banter. A good sindel wouldn't have much to say and wouldn't want to kill anyone so to make her more interesting they changed her character. It's dumb I know, but I wouldn't put it past them.

I was just thinking this same exact thing. Keep in mind that when the merger happened with the past and future, Kung Lao just beat Shang Tsung and Quan Chi. Sindel was revived after the 2nd tournament in order for Shao Kahn to try and merge Earthrealm. I believe Sindel is still brainwashed by Quan Chi which explains that god awful ending.
I like this theory, it’s certainly easier to believe than her always being like how she is in MK11.

To make myself okay with her being evil, I basically think that since her revenant is the one that was restored, she would have still been brainwashed. It doesn’t make sense with her being nice at first, but its the best I can do at the moment 😭✌️
When Kitana asks D'vorah if she killed Jarrod, D'vorah says "this one has killed many on Shao Kahn's behalf" which implies that she doesn't remember because of the amount of people she has murdered
The evil Sindel was made for Mortal kombat 9 to Mortal Kombat 11 obviously due to how Kronika restarted time after the Battle of Armageddon. Kronika also mentioned to Revenant Liu Kang and Revenant Kitana that restarting time can change events and people in many different ways. Also, the plot for Mortal Kombat 12 is leaked and Onaga might be the next main antagonist for the game.

In the original timeline,Sindel didn't kill herself to create a protection for earthrealm, she did it to escape Shao Kahn , it was a bit selfish,but it create a redemption opportunity

Bring back the old Sindel
Ya know, it would've been better if this Sindel was made for a DLC story arc, where the Sindel we know and love returns and has a heart warming reunion with Kitana, but then there's a distortion in the time space continuum. Which causes this new Sindel to appear from an alternate universe. That would've been the smart thing to do because that way NRS wouldn't have to ruin her character without discarding her previous background.
The thing people have to remember with Sindel is she's was under Shao Kahn's control at the time, so its possible that he implanted false memories in her to better control her. So unless its stated otherwise I'd say take her new morales with a pinch of salt.
Ok, don’t tear me apart for breaking your hearts, because I love old Sindel as well, but:
if Kronika has been manipulating/restarting time over and over again to create her version of perfection, thereby creating multiple different timelines, it’s not so much of a stretch to imagine the CURRENT Sindel as a version OBVIOUSLY of a different timeline. Play Mk11 aftermath, and it suddenly becomes apparent how often the timeline has been changed.
Nether realm didn’t screw us, they gave us an alternate universe, of which there are many. It makes all the inconsistencies from before suddenly make a semblance of sense, because each character makes different decisions and each character changes, based upon the timeline they’re following AND what events may have been in place. So with that logic in place, old Sindel “exists” just as the new one does.
I’ve been playing her and it’s safe to say Neatherrealm doesn’t give a shit about timelines and lore like we do but she looks like the OG Gaming Milf we all know and love

That's the ghost of whoever tf that ancestor is, and that's why we have that purple screaming ghost lady in MK11 that we see more appearantly now. Even though her storyline sucks now, you have to give props to NRS for paying attention to subtle details in the past and make them more appearant

I know people don't like it, but when Shang Tsung restored Sindel in Aftermath using the soul chamber, this was our first introduction to the Edenian queen Sindel. When she was introduced in MK3, she had white eyes after being brought back by Shang and the Shadow Priests. In Deception, the spell had worn off, but she was still like an undead zombie. Same goes for MK9 Sindel. In MKX, she's a revanant. Her first appearance in MK11 is a revanent. After being restored, it is the first time we see a Sindel with normal eyes indicating this was her original state.
I love the new Sindel look. Just wish they turned her good again.
The Original Timeline and Current Timeline are separate and different due to the changes Kronika made.
In Mortal Kombat 9, Raiden's time message to his past self was actually to his past self in a different timeline.

I’m sorry I may be the only one but I’m in love with this Sindel. To me her new story is cohesive with the old one because she could have lied from the very beginning. D’Vorah probably believed she killed Jared because she was force to by Shao Kahn to cover for Sindel.. that’s just my opinion on this.
I absolutely hate the retcon they did with Sindel but I have an in universe theory about it all (I know it could become non-canon later on):
The Sindel in MK9 and X had the same backstory as the original timeline, but in MK11 Kronika changed her so she would have another minion to fight against Raiden. Since Shao Kahn was one of said minions, he probably requested Kronika to add her, but Kronika changed Sindel’s backstory so Shao Kahn could have a loyal queen for his empire in the New Era thus keeping his part of the deal with the Time Titan. But by the sounds of Sindel’s ending it backfired on both Kronika and Shao Kahn with Sindel becoming Empress of Time and ruling over all realms.
Since Liu Kang and Kitana now sculpt the sands of time (in one of the endings) it’s possible that the Sindel we all know and love could come back.
EDIT: Aftermath has happened and has debunked this theory...and has made the retcon canon

I'm kind of obsessed with the way the new Sindel is portrayed. I do miss the old, good queen. But I do enjoy this new evil queen that, as Spawn puts it, is clearly the one running the show. Shao Kahn is clearly just her puppet and I love that for her. You'd think Shao wouldn't listen to anyone but he only listens to her. Because she's much more powerful. After all, she is one of the few beings that, without the crown, can canonically harm Cetrion.

In my opinion this "new sindel" makes sense for the reboot timeline since well think about for the reboot timeline I mean we all we had for judgement of sindel's character in mk9 was quan chi saying she committed suicide to protect earthrealm Quan chi is not exactly reliable seeing how he was loyal to shinnok the entire time and also her actions in MKX shows she liked being a revanat and being evil which could show she was not a nice person to begin with. Also shao khan seemed genuinely surprised about the reason she committed sucide and also the only other thing that said sindel was good was her arcade ending in 9 which is not canon.
The end of Armageddon altered the timeline and effectively put the later games in an alternate reality. Since the changes resulted in a change of the motivation/desired end state of Shinnok (an elder god), it is not unreasonable to expect there to be other changes. I view the changes to Sindel to be a result of this, and therefore not a contradiction of the original storyline and canon. I personally enjoy the change, as I find villains more interesting and entertaining than heroes, and I feel her personality now better fits her power set. Of course, this is all my personal opinion.
WAIT. if you pay close attention to sindel’s face when she screams in mk3, you can see it change to this undead / skeleton looking thing. it looks really creepy and i’m just now noticing it 😳

The retcon makes ZERO sense. This Sindel wouldn’t do ANY of the things that the Sindel we know from past games would do. This Sindel wouldn’t care about her daughter the way the Past Sindel did (this Sindel only “cared” to keep Kitana loyal, where in past games, when she wasn’t corrupted by outside forces, that CLEARLY wasn’t the case) nor would she of sacrificed herself to keep Earthrealm from meeting Edenia’s fate (1. Why would someone who only truly gives a damn about themselves do something like that for someone else? This was something CONFIRMED in MK9 btw that happened sometime before the events of the tournament. 2. Why would she care if Earthrealm met the same fate as Edenia if SHE’S the reason Edenia fell in the first place?). It’s just baffling how NRS can’t even follow their own damn continuity sometimes. Even retcons have to make sense in the franchise they happen in.
I swear they did it because of the pre fight banter. A good sindel wouldn't have much to say and wouldn't want to kill anyone so to make her more interesting they changed her character. It's dumb I know, but I wouldn't put it past them.
