  • Building a fishing rod is fun and it also gives you the great feeling of building something with your own two hands. Not to mention how it feels when you catch the first fish on your own hand-built rod. Building rods for family and/or friends as a gift is also something most people never forget.
This video is for the craftsmen at heart. We will be building all the necessary tools for the job by hand. Follow along as Tony Amato, who is NOT a self-proclaimed expert rod builder, learns himself the ins and outs of this fun craft/hobby.

Cheap and easy to pay $80 for an Okuma from Bimart but so much more gratifying to catch fish on a rod you built yourself.

I think I have about $30 ish bucks into the wood, thread, some 2-part clear epoxy and the hardware. The major portion of the cost will be the components but like you said the gratification and the extra time and quality that a person puts into their own rod makes it all worth while.
