We filmed this in a hotel room in Kansas City while I was on tour. This interview was originally published almost two years ago when the channel was much smaller. I'm sharing it again today, so new subscribers might get a chance to see it. It's a great story and Chris is a wonderful guitar builder. You should definitely check out his guitars and tell him Otis sent you.

I hope Chris asked for a raise after that.. He had pretty good leverage..."If you don't give me a raise I'm calling Jimmy Page!"

This is one of the coolest stories. When you’ve inspired someone on Jimmy Page’s level, you’ve earned wings! Great story and, apparently, a great guitar!

Otis for me this is one of the best interview you have ever done. Being a woodworker I'm fascinated by luthiers!! Please release the entire interview. 🙏

I only "discovered" Otis about a year ago so I never saw this video. I'm so glad Otis republished it because this is a great story with a sweet vibe. There's something I love about a master craftsman/artist who is totally confident in what he does, understands the impact his creations have in the world, but doesn't take himself too seriously. What a pleasure to see someone like Chris Swope get the validation many creators never receive. Good on you, Chris! ✌❤. And thanks to Otis for being the master craftsman/artist that HE is. You're a gift to the world, Otis! 🙏

Otis and Chris, this post is so good words cannot express!
As a rather large Zep fan, when Chris was speaking of the '07 concert I was feeling so 'over the moon' myself, I may need to hitch a ride back to good ol' Earth!
    I mean, like crazee, man!
Good on you Otis for arranging this interview! Chris was obviously awestruck when handed the phone!
Fantastic! Kudos to Chris and you, Otis!
You guys make me want keep putting one foot in front of the other!!
    Thanks doesn't say enough!!
I hope for all for a fantastic 2024 and beyond! Especially bcuz we are just barely past the first anniversary of the loss of Jimmy's childhood friend, Jeff Beck!
I don't know if this was your strategy, but I love the execution!!
    I can barely contain myself!!!!

I thought was gonna be lame. It's NOT! That was a super cool story! That guy lives my dream, making works of art that are used to create works of art. AWESOME. Good thing he has that job. If I did the world would awash in super bright berry blue quilted flame topped SGs and Casinos, lol. Not many people can claim the job satisfaction of that man. Rock on.
