Like Lorenz, he would have love Valkyrie and gremory, I will said Hubert does like dark bishop and can only really make it work. I mean dark bishop might as well be his unique class
Also, hilariously, you cannot sabotage him. Meaning, if you know from the start that you’re gonna do SS (ew), benching him and leaving him at level 1 will NOT mean he stays at level one once he becomes an enemy in ch 12
@@brainwasher9876 In radiant dawn you actually can! Always felt amazing fighting my own units and seeing the beats they were from the enemy's point of view
i hope this isnt the end of the series. you explain things in a very detailed way and i love it. these have been some of the best character guides ive seen for fire emblm.
8:44 Be careful with some monsters/golems that had the Magic Null efect meaning they will take no damage from, oh well magical attacks including the magic combat arts as long as their barriers are intact or mildly broken
I find pushing for Armored Knight is worthwhile as it helps Hubert’s with fragility. Additionally, getting weight -5 from enough heavy armor investment really helps him maximize his spells by allowing him to double enemies more often.
I really don't think Paladin is quite so bad as you make it out to be here. Even dismounted, they have 6 move which still runs circles around the magical level 20 options, and for the lategame hubert gets access to the elusive arrow of indra for reliable magic damage. you should still definitely class him into both dark knight and paladin for the flexibility but it can be useful over dark knight in a good number of situations, i feel.
Don't know if I have been rng blessing but hubert has been an absolute monster of a unit in my first CF run, outclassing my early recruit lysithea in every aspect, only downside so far his very slow movement as a mage.
Ah yes the wrathvantage dark knight. The unit that shows sometimes the best crest is no crest. Gotta love quickly entering vantage range with no risk just by slapping thyrsus on him for the first turn or two. Also helps that the one crit magic gambit a wrathvantage mage would want is on crimson flames. Also people really overstate how bad his lack of a faith list is. Like yeah he’d rather have access to warp seraphim or rescue rather then not but those are really the only faith spells worth mentioning late and it just means that he can just grab vantage from mercenary rank up his horse rank and get authority for battlion wrath in that time and even get dark magic range+1 by endgame as a dark knight which most units don’t really manage because you’ve spent significant time investing in faith. The game tells you immediately don’t invest in faith bad idea so you get a hyper focused murder machine. Hubert’s the exception when normally enemy phase builds are better on physical units. He’s only worse then dimitri since dimitri doesn’t have to lower his hp but Hubert can do it in a turn with a dance and I’d say he’s on par with non bow knight dimitris since he doesn’t need retribution though he does want thyrsus so about equal support needed when factoring in you may need to apply retribution multiple times.
I know this topic has nothing to do with Hubert but I've already got a comment on the Lorenz video. Also I came up with this "analysis" ages ago so I can't remember much of my points and might be bullshitting bits here and there I've always considered the Golden Deer's playstyle/dynamic to be one of a weird specialisation. Like, each unit has a sort of preset role that they seem to excel as when compared to their other faction counterparts. They all seem to have amazing strengths but strong weaknesses. Lysithea and Raphael are the epitome of glass canons with their respective damage types. Ignatz is a mega reliable support and/or chipper that ends up becoming powerful through his top tier crit potential and seals/rallies, someone who you'd typically want to start off a turn with. Marianne is the healer but also freakishly offensive for one. Claude plays like he's meant to be near untouchable with his Encloser, Fallen Star, Wind God, Pass and just general high avoid. Leonie has a kind of rush down thing going for her similar to Yuri where you would like her cleaning up on the outskirts of your main crew. Hilda is an epic tank that doesn't really suffer the typical negatives of most tanks. And then we have Lorenz whose speciality is that he doesn't have one, he's meant to work more as a unit that covers for everyone elses weaknesses, he does a bit of everything just not quite as well, which helps with situations where you may need one characters main strength in two places in a single turn and all that. This is all based on if they go their canon (or mostly canon) classes
archer is not using in a story battle, just master it in an aux battle (unless that counts as grinding? altho it takes around 5 min with a knowledge gem)
I'm on Crimson Flower right now and Hubert is pretty awesome. I didn't know how good Frozen Lance is so I never bothered training that but I have him as a Dark Bishop that's working quite well. Also, his battalion, Vestra Sorcery Engineers, has to be the hardest hitting name of any battalion in the game. XD
So from what i understand there is no point in training reason with him past rank A since there is no more abilites he will get past that point like dark toneflaire that others get at rank S+ on reason?
I really shoulda played CF in Normal. I finally had my boy master cavalry classes so he can be a dark knight. Classing him as an Archer would be great to snag that Hit +20, but bro snagged a lot of my mvp lists.
He would be made actively worse with a crest. His whole thing is being the one good enemy phase mage and that’s ruined If thyrsus no longer brings him into vantage range and then he’s just a male mage with the only utility being banshee as opposed to a hyper focused unit that’s dominant in one role but has no other options that are quite so good. Crest aren’t even particularly impactful anyway they aren’t reliable so you are never planning around them so they have an impact. At most he kills someone when you were trying to weaken them and that honestly might be bad because it makes feeding kills to units you wanna train inconsistent in the same vein people actively frown upon proc skills and brass/bronze are considered the best forges in fates because they are entirely consistent
@@ultimaterecoil1136genuine question for that Hubert build do you push his axes up to B+ to run regular wrath in addition to battalion wrath or do you just settle for a crit rate below 100%? Since b. Wrath + a crit battalion only pushes his crit from 60-70 and the death spell doesn’t have a lot of uses so I think you’ll resort to banshee’s 5 crit a lot of the time, and he won’t have his item open for a crit ring if you’re using thyrsus.
@@readtherules7101 Hubert’s skill and luck growths are fairly high ( magic crit factors in luck) so he has significant crit just from his stats. In addition hubert doesn’t need to keep thyrsus. It just needs to trigger vantage. Of course thyrsus has its benefits so it’s still worth to keep it on him if he’s your only mage but it’s beneficial to give it to different units depending on the situation it’s just the best way to initially activate himself so he wants it at the start but it’s honestly not even that unreasonable that he has 40 to 50 crit with miasma on player phase. He’s got a similar level of natural crit from stats that a lot of the bow based units will have ( of course this is somewhat rng dependent but if you really are that concerned you can always do the whole use divine pulse to rig level ups by delaying a level up to the next map if a unit gets a actively bad one since the level up rng is set on map start so if it’s late in a map you can do a action to gain enough exp to level up like kill an enemy to check if you wanna keep that level up if not pulse kill that enemy with a different unit ) typically I’d rather get him up to dark magic range so I can swap thyrsus to someone else after he’s lowered his hp sufficiently and still have significant range with a crit ring due to his ranged options. Hubert not caring about faith in the slightest makes shooting for dark magic range even on dark knight with a side project into swords for vantage relatively obtainable in the second half of the game. And being able to outrange bow knights has its benefits especially with canter. You can launch an attack at a enemy and then bring him back into safety with movement skills no need for rescue with such range. Great for dealing with monsters and siege weapons safely. It’s also just nice to have an accurate dark magic user in general. Hubert has a level of reliability that most other dark mages need to actively invest in either accuracy battlions or accuracy skills to match usually. And If your hubert is screwed well a crit based mage is pretty much the only unit who wants the luck boosters so if you’d prefer more reliability to the money that’s fine too. The resources Hubert wants aren’t exactly in heavy competition. You could maybe try to feed goddess icons to another mage perhaps someone not initially intended to be a mage so you can have another crestless mage to use a similar crit mage build but those units will then often want magic boosters and that is a resource that is wanted by a significant portion of your army. Ignaz isn’t gonna be one shotting monsters with a crit without stat boosters. Hubert it’s very much in the realm of possibility that he can ( well barring the ones immune to magic before their armor breaks). Where as several units want spirit dust speed wings energy drops goddess icons generally people sell instead of use because 90% of the time you just don’t have someone who wants a goddess icon. So if you want a crit mage they can have them all to themselves. Using different resources to other units effectively allows you to give those other units the more commonly desired ones more densely. Hubert’s might is fine when factoring in his critical damage and crit rate so you can use the spirit dust you would of used on any other mage deployed in his slot somewhere else. More warp range for a warper ie. His accuracy is above average for dark mages and doesn’t need dedicated support for it so I’d you were using a different dark mage your slyvain might need to spend time in archer for hit+20 his accuracy especially with lance of ruin can be shaky where as he could just get some dex boosting to solve that as another example. It’s like how Leo In conquest is valuable because he can get vantage from a friendship with odin rather then using 2 heart seals to get vantage and get back into dark mage like odin does or with a Corrin marriage like someone like Elise would have to get vantage and then class back into a magic class. Using those resources that aren’t typically valued in a significant way let’s you use them more freely on other units.

Also, hilariously, you cannot sabotage him. Meaning, if you know from the start that you’re gonna do SS (ew), benching him and leaving him at level 1 will NOT mean he stays at level one once he becomes an enemy in ch 12
