  • I was not expecting palm trees, a beautiful boardwalk and +15 Celsius in December! Welcome to Durres, the second largest city in Albania. This is a destination known for its beaches being on the Adriatic Sea and is also the main port city of the country. Of course it is better to come here in the summer, but the winter is also quite nice! Hope you guys enjoy the city tour of the waterfront, downtown core and also Durres famous amphitheatre! xx

On the other side of the Adriatic is Italy. They’ve made progress because back in the day, Albanians were desperate to flee to Italy because life there was so much better. Today that’s not happening anymore and Durrës has the potential to be an Adriatic summer playground. I think of Dalmatia and Istria and the stunning coastline and islands of the eastern Adriatic so Albania has sleeper coastal cities. They just remain waiting to be discovered.

    • @nnnnnnnnmmmmmmmmka
      @nnnnnnnnmmmmmmmmka 3 роки тому +5

The flee that you are referring to was at the end of communism 1989-1900, the opression of the mos ridigid communism system pushed so many people to flee in very difficult conditions, on small speedboats filled way over its capacity, so many of them have died (adults and kids). But now its history, as with the change of the system from public owned property to privately owned business flourished and the country saw many changes. Durres particulary has been a highly touristic destination for almost 15 maybe 20 years now.

That’s very true what you said but you forgot to mention that Albania was a communist country for 50 years, ruled by a dictator who literally killed and persecuted a lot of innocent people.
What Albania went through in the 90s many European countries went through in the 50s which did the same by leaving Europe and migrating to USA for a better future.
Now Albanian moved forward with big steps and is a safe and beautiful European country .

Construction began under the emperor Trajan in the 2nd century AD and it was destroyed twice by earthquakes in the 6th and 10th centuries. i am a local of Durres and sadly the development of the city isnt the best in terms of urbanistics, infrastructure, transportation, quality of construction...its crazy how our government approves renovation projects of the streets to build just concrete and we dont even have a park ! ,the coast i remember as a child was full of trees and now we have cut them all to build buildings wherever they can with no plan and lets not mention the earthquake that happened and a lot of citizens lost their homes due to the bad quality those buildings were built.
we do have hotels and bars with great interior trying to improve the tourism but sadly im not happy to see my city destroyed this way.
as a child i remember swimming at the sea and it was with so clear waters and full of sand but now... its all with private beaches sadly dirty waters too & you have to pay for it,like public beaches barely exist here ...however its still my city and i still enjoy living here but i wish the development was more organized and that the corrupted leaders wish they didnt think just for their pockets but also for the future of their children, nieces and its citizens

    A very interesting Roman amphitheatre!
It looks like the Roman engineers dug out a piece of sloping ground and cast concrete seats and steps in place. Presumably, they finished the job by covering the concrete with cut stone seats and steps. And this finishing stone was presumably recycled later to build the church on the site. So now what remains, apart from the church, is the Roman concrete which appears in yet another of your great videos.

Nice video of my current homebase city. Yes, I live in Durres. Living by the sea is quite nice and yes, it's quite busy during tourist season with people from all over the globe. By my reckoning your calculations are off. 100 leke is about one US dollar. The bus from Tirana to Durres costs 150 leke so it's a dollar and 50 cents but the smaller vans charge 200 leke. It's rather laid back. They wait for the buses to fill then they go. Life is quite different when comparing Tirana and Durres. I prefer the slower pace in Durres.
It would have been interesting to run into you and see how you do your filming with all your paraphernalia. I live right behind the structure you filmed in front of that was right by the fisherman statue and the other statue. You're right there is quite a bit more to see as well as more history to explore. Thanks for the enjoyable video and enjoy Berat. Don't miss the view from the castle either and do visit Durres again with more time to explore. Should you come back it would be great to meet up for coffee.

Dear Alina, I'm also a Canadian. I can relate with you on that level and also with your personality profile. I'm an economist. I arrived in Switzerland 30 years ago and I've since worked for a cantonal government in public finance. I must congratulate you on the development of your Channel. I've been following you since your trip accross Russia. Seeing you on Instagram and UA-cam is a real kick. It's really great to be able to travel via your videos. I have come to look forward to your live sessions as they offer a chance to interact with you almost directly and, somehow you do it so well. You are very kind to your audience. Furthermore, you share your thoughts on how you grow personally through your experiences and your thoughts are really constructive.
I have decided to write to you about one of your habits that I suggest you reconsider in a certain way. It is about your habit of swearing using the words "Jesus", "Jesus Christ" and "fuck". You did react to a follower's comment on that issue in your last live session in BERAT Albania and I got your point - mainly about having been raised in an environment where such a practice was "normal". I understand that it is inevitable to express frustration in a vocal way - I also need to - but the choice of words for that purpose is very wide.
May I suggest further thoughts? Personnaly, when I was your age, I used to swear a lot in that same way. But at one point I decided to do away with it simply because of self respect - being aware of the example that I give to others whomever they could be. Then I grew up some more.
If you are at home with people who know you well, you are as free as you wish to be. But when you broadcast yourself to thousands of people, necessarily a good share of them will be Christians that, not only know Jesus personnally, but also love Him very deeply. Hearing you use his name as you do, makes them feel the same way as you would if someone insulted and humiliated your dad publicly. We cannot help but regret this habit. My suggestion is that you avoid using those swear words when you record videos that are intended for an audience.
Be sure that this does not affect the way we may feel about you as a person. We have learned to love, come what may. It would be a big plus if you could show that you are sensitive to this intimate issue. And it does not keep you from swearing anyway you like when you are on your own (as I do).
In any case, thank you so much for your work; it is a real contribution to society. With love, all my best wishes for the year to come. Daniel
