    In 2000 I started meeting a lot of Albanians who had come to England. I loved their warmth and hospitality. I quickly learned their language and in 2003 I went to Tirana for a short holiday. I loved it so much I didn't want to go home. In 2004 I sold my house, left England, and came to live in Tirana. I love it so much! I could never go back to living in England again.

      Albanian language is the real " Ancient Greek" language. Greeks don't speak " Ancient Greek" language, their language it is called Koine, the language of the Church and Byzantium, a language made up. They don't understand " the Ancient Greek" language at all, but Albanian can explain Ancient Greek and Archaic Latin language, that's why we call Albanian " the mother tongue of Greek and Latin". Albanians never changed their language, Greeks changed it twice during history. Albanian is very primitive( ancient), it has 365 syllabus words, while Greek has only 7. That's why Albanian is called the language of Pelasgians and Illyrians, the only tribes inhabiting the Peninsula. Greeks or Helen's never existed in history. They were created when Greece was created,on the back of Albanians. Even genetic tests are proving who the " real Greeks " were. History needs to be written properly, because this has been the most manipulative story of all time, all done with the " blessing " of Europe to destroy the most Ancient people of Europe - Albanians.

    Tirana seems to be a cool city....Thanks Alina for advocating the not-so-popular destinations which are equally beautiful, quaint, safe & touristy as compared to the popular destinations! Keep exploring & stay safe….from India.

    You say Tirana, but I hear Toronna (Toronto). 😉 It's a hometown thing. Once the lockdown ends I'll visit my Albanian barbers and tell them about your videos. They are really good guys who tell me about their home all the time. Looking forward to more. Enjoy your visit. ✌✌

    Thank you for sharing these great videos with us! I've never been to Albania before and it seems like a really interesting place, it mixes a lot of cultures as I see - Balkan, Mediterranean, Islam. A typical Balkan country - diverse, beautiful, unique! I hope they'll join the EU soon, so that their country can develop more rapidly and attract many more tourists. As for you, keep travelling and keep discovering the Balkans! There's much more to see! And share with us, so that we can discover new places we've never been to :)

    Fantastic start to your Albania series!
    Drone shots and overall cinematography were splendid as usual. I found your first impressions valuable as it gave me a fresh new perspective on travel overall.
    Also, I purchased Rosetta Stone's lifetime plan yesterday through your link and I'm loving it so far! Currently taking an intermediate French course and found it well-detailed with a perfect balance of speaking and listening lessons. Definitely a valuable language learning tool 👍🏼

    Such a beautiful slow paced vlog, so enjoyable to watch and so relaxing too. I have seen other vlogs of Tirana but they all seemed like rushed and I didn’t enjoy them. Love your attention to details, details matter so so much to change a mindset especially when it comes to stereotypes. Albania has its problems like any other country does, there are always to sides everywhere you go but the way you appreciated the beautiful things you saw around Tirana it’s really heartwarming and makes you wanna watch more of these vids that you are making. Greetings from Sydney!

    Another great video! I am planning on going to Albania (maybe even for a long term stay) and like you I did not know what to expect and now Im super excited to go! Thank you so much for this! p.s. I would also be interested in knowing more about how covid has and is affecting the country. Thanks!

    • @AlinaMcleod
      @AlinaMcleod  4 роки тому +3

      Thank you! With covid its been an average of around 700 cases a day, around a 3 million population. Almost everything is open with the kind of rules you'd see anywhere else like wearing masks, limited amount of people in businesses, social distancing etc. There's also a curfew where businesses have to close by 10pm and everyone has to be off the streets by 11pm. Of course you can go out if it's an emergency or work matter at those times. Overall it's fairly relaxed though other than protests that had been happening this past week over a police shooting a civilian. But those likely won't still be going on in the new year I wouldn't think. Hope you enjoy your time here!

    Hi Alina, first time viewer of your videos.Clicked on it because I have a fascination with travel.
    It is so true that there are so many interesting countries that unfortunately are not on the masses radar. Obviously this is due to the lack of worldwide tourism marketing.
    Whilst Australia( the country I live in),Canada and America are beautiful countries with lots of opportunities,unfortunately they lack the old and interesting history that Europe has.
    I thoroughly enjoyed your video.

    The Albanian people are *SOOOOOOOO* Lovely, I'll forever remember them for the Best.
    Evidently, Tirana has changed *a lot* since I visited it, back on 1998... but, already then, there were *LOTS* of Restaurants and Cafés. :-) And it's natural, to look for foods from Home... I'm always glad to find a good Falafel, wherever I go. :-)
