I believe one of the reasons your content resonates with so many like me is the fact that your game is so similar to many of us who watch. You're a very good player that doesn't hit 320 yard tee shots and 190 yard 7 irons. You PLAY golf. That makes equipment reviews that you do much more interesting to me but I enjoy all your video's so keep on doing what you do.

There’s no doubt that how a product or service is marketed usually reveals if you’re on the right track or not. The typical “customer” will make it clear. But based on the comments I’ve seen, there are different content segments that are liked by different viewers. So getting the right mix of content is obviously key. Most golf content channels tend to focus on the same type of content and IMO that becomes boring. But having a golf centric channel that is presenting a good mix of different types of golf content is different & refreshing. The fact that you are evaluating the likes, comments & subscription results based on content, shows that you’ll find the best mix of content to capture & keep an optimal number of viewers. Like most amateur golfers, I like the product reviews. But I also like the “Break…” videos and the videos that show your course management thoughts when you’re actually playing different holes. Lastly, the best part of your videos, regardless of the content, is that it’s coming from someone whose golf game is one in which most of us amateur golfers can relate to.

Always appreciate your honesty. Thank you! The ball reviews are always good. Some people have their entire channel running based on ball reviews. Ever thought of doing reviews on older clubs? See some folks buy the used or even thrift store clubs for few $$, and test them out. One did a 20 year old 7 wood since those are popular now. Maybe you have and I've missed it. I enjoy the situational content. What to do here (in the rough, into the grain, bunkers, etc.), options to use around greens, strategies, etc. That is how I play and enjoy your thoughts. Come spring, maybe a few ideas is short game sessions because people will tend to miss more greens early in the season. Keep up the good work, MSH!

Hey man, I’ve noticed that no matter what type of subject your channel covers, gear reviews out perform everything else creators make. I dug deep into photography and fell in love with a few photography content creators. They were all great teachers who tried to cover the true essence of the art and help people get better and made videos from the heart. But when they reviewed a new lens or a new camera, the views would be quadruple. I think it’s just how UA-cam works. All this to say. Keep doing the matches and the break videos for your fans. And make the gear reviews for the views and the $$. You need both ❤

Sir, I’m addicted to getting better at golf. I’m 62 and usually watch some UA-cam golf videos throughout the day. There is something positive, relatable, enjoyable about watching yours. I’m a 15 handicap trying to get down to a 12 but still trying to enjoy each round no matter how I hit the ball. My question is are you done getting lessons from pros to try to improve? I think I’m at the point where it doesn’t help anymore. I find myself making good contact with the ball using the simple technique of Mike Malaka or Todd Heugly. The L to L swing. What to you think? How do you try to get better? Lessons, equipment, technology? Do you ever change or swing or swing thoughts?

Here are a couple of ideas for content. When you set up your launch monitor how do you do it... not the mechanics of the monitor that can be learned from the instruction manual but things like when you are on a driving range what is your thought process, in the hitting bays, out on the lawn, at the end of the line... what practical things can you help with, time of day. Same advice for someone that might want to use a monitor on the course even. Your last video on the wedges kind of touched on this but how about a more general video on how much bounce should I have on my wedges, should I mix the bounce on my wedges some more forgiving some not and why, pros and cons. Keep going as many have said you are a very likable, relatable golfer to many of us and advice comes much easier from someone we can relate to so keep going!

I've enjoyed the channel for some time now. I actually am yet another one of those that has a preference for the equipment reviews, particularly the ball and club reviews. But I also like the course management vids and the instructional-type ones. And as a fellow short hitter, your approach to the game and how you plot your way around a course is very interesting and relevant to me and to a lot of us out here who don't hit 340-yard drives.
Actually I did hit a 340-yard drive once, but it involved a big downslope, howling wind behind me, and the judicious use of a completely baked-out stretch of grassless ground (pretty much pavement) up the left side. And I still managed to bogey the hole.
One thing I thought of: I have a lot of iron sets. Like...a lot of them. I'd be more than happy to ship you some for you to play and review. Most of them have the Nippon 850GH shaft in regular, is the only thing. This shaft is too light for a lot of folks.

I think your videos are great. You provide a genuine and sincere perspective. I know for myself, I'm kinda over all break videos, not just yours. Maybe that's what you are seeing with your viewership. I think some videos on hazard areas, and tournament etticate would be a nice tie in to the strategy videos. It would be interesting to see how those situations are handled in tournaments from someone who regularly plays them. Is it as strict as the rule or a little more like casual golf. Thanks for the great and relatable content, and the time you put into doing them.

It's tough to find the formula. My channel has been going for 9 months now, and while I have 750k+ views (almost all from shorts), it's been hard to find long-form content that does well. And I feel like the videos that have done really well (break series) were almost randomly pushed by UA-cam. What I mean is I can do a very similar video, keywords, etc. and it gets 100 views. When my biggest long-form was in the 3k range. I don't quite get it. Keep going, your channel is great! I would love to compare notes with you if you're open to that. Hey MSH, Have always liked your stuff and followed for a good while. For me personally, I would like to see you do a video on breaking 90 hitting 170 yds or less for those who don't hit hard. Show how to use better layup strategies for different types of distances left to the green and such. I can drive on average from 170-210 depending on the grass and surface. I can't usually hit more than 160yds on average on my 2nd shots so I rarely make greens in regulation. Many of the folks I golf with are that same way. Show us how to strategically layup/setup our 3rd shot in. Thanks so much.

I used to make videos on a regular basis, actually working on one right now, and I stopped caring about what people say. If you make good content then companies will look at that and not the number. I've worked with companies in Germany, Taiwan, Canada, and the US. You have companies that care about the number and you have companies care about the content and how you present yourself. If you wanna do a golf ball review...do it. You gotta do things to not make the channel stale if that makes sense. I like this channel a lot more than the other "big name and subs" channels because I can relate to you more. That's just my 2 cents. PS...you're like 2.5 hours away from me. Be sweet to play a round next season if you're open to it. Take care sir and keep up the good content.

I think a video with you helping some of the guy with their swing would be nice, but that might not draw views. Either way, good luck, and I'll keep watching!

Daaanng the algorithm is doing you wrong 😳. Reason I say this is because, I’ve seen your videos but UA-cam has never recommended any of your review videos. I’m a guilty non subscriber but it’s only because everyone is doing break 80, 90, 100 videos so my feed is always filled with the same content. Now after watching this video I go to your actual channel and see that I’ve watched so many of your vids but never a review, UA-cam literally held those in their pocket from me but fed me all your other vids.🤷🏾‍♂️. I think we’re in need of more ball reviews, club reviews, and just different content. Heck the minute I realized you did reviews I clicked that little red button we all love so much. Haha.
I hope that gives you a little insight on why your subs might not be going up as fast with your other vids. I can only give my opinion but that was my honest reason for why I hadn’t subbed prior, and why I’m subbed now.

  • @jhooton75

I'll be completely honest, I've not watched any of your "Break" videos. No offense, but the only Break 50 videos I watch is Bryson because he's bringing on pros, and it's fun to watch those guys off the pro tours. I do enjoy the reviews and the tips videos. You are a great golfer, but have a slower swing speed, more toward average. I don't mean that in a bad way. I get nothing from a golf ball review when the person reviewing is swinging the driver 115mph. I feel like I have similar swing speeds as you, so your reviews relate to me more. Relate to me more in a swing speed way, I'm not even close to being as good of a golfer as you. Keep up the great work, and I hope the snow goes away soon and you get a mild winter where you can still get out on the course.

Thanks for the update and recognizing the viewers and moving to adjust. I subscribed about a year ago and have enjoyed the content. However, I will say that I enjoy the reviews for clubs, balls, and thought process around the course. I'm shoot between 80-85 and looking to get into the 70's. So that is what attracts me to improving my game. When I see a title "Breaking 50" that's a little unrealistic to me and not what I'm looking for. I do still watch the video's to see you thought process but not a big fan! Keep up the work and I'll be watching.

Have fun. Guys are fussy if you review a ball that they like but you don't they may unsub, So what. For me playing whether it's a match or practice is what I like. My thought is the videos are too short and tight I like to see more and hear what you are thinking about the lies and how you're going to adjust. I was a 6.2 handicap and a 265 driver in 2021 then I had an accident and had to wait because of covid for my hip replacement till Oct. 2023 (I'm 68). I've only been able to walk 9 about a dozen time this year but my drives are about 210 now and I'm guessing I'm about a 26 handicap. I was ready to give it up. So by chance I came across one of your videos and I was impressed with your swing and your excellent demeanor. You have inspired me to keep playing. I'm in Toledo Ohio so I'll catch up with the videos this winter. My advice, less editing and more playing 18 holes if possible.

@@mistahshorthitter Can MistahShortHitter break 70 or 80 using just 7 clubs?
      Or 5 clubs? Or just a 7 wood, a 9 iron, and a putter?
And what would be the point of doing that?
Well, golf is a difficult game. And the marketing of equipment is slanted overwhelmingly toward having the average Joe, believe that their 7 iron WILL go 180 yds, and stop 2 ft from the pitch mark, and they will easily break 80.
Probably 80% of your audience have never broken 80. But they still enjoy the game, for the forever challenge. It might be enlightening to do a survey.
I have been golfing for 40 yrs. I have broken 80 less than 10 times, and not once in the last 10 yrs. My equipment 10 or 15 yrs ago was not very good, compared to today.
But for those still hopeful, the EASIER path to 79 may not be distance, but "course management", staying out of trouble. This is what a 7 club challenge will show.

I do prefer the club and ball reviews though. To keep the cost down you could review 2nd hand clubs and lake balls 🤷🏻. Good luck whatever you do. As far as any suggestions, maybe review some older equipment, I myself am waiting on a G400 Max driver, I’m won’t buy new,,, ever, lol, but it will be my 3rd driver in 5 years, I am back to using my original driver the R15 after trying the Paradym X for 6 months.
