- I build and review the Ork Stompa kit for Warhammer 40,000. It's a huge Ork walker for taking on Imperial Knights and the biggest Space marine tanks!

When a mere dreadnought just isn't stompy enough, a Mek feels the urge to build a Stompa. As big as a Battle Fortress, a Stompa is a walking, shooting, roaring idol of Gork. It has a crew of several Orks aided by dozens of Grot riggers, runners, and assistants. A Stompa usually mounts two or three enormous guns as well as some form of oversized claw or whirring blade for chewing up enemy tanks and titans in close combat.
This box set contains one large multi-part plastic Ork Stompa. This massive kit has over 230 components, comes with a myriad of weapons, and can be modeled in a number of different ways.

If you prime all the parts red before building it will build faster.
I painted the first one purple and now I can’t find it.

I didn't expect the feet to be like that. I was thinking they'd look like crude square shoeboxes. But I do like this big fella.

This video was a wonderful reference for where bits are supposed to go while I was building my own Stompa. Much appreciated!
What really gets me about GWs kits; for $140 USD you think they could spent the extra 50 cents for another page of instructions breaking down the build better.... Even for old kits they don't bother to update them to nicer ones. Nothing is stopping them from printing updated ones.
That said, did like the chain idea, think that came out very orky.
I'd be happy with a pdf at this stage, anything is better than these instructions!

Brilliant, it looks like something the sadly late great Kevin o Neil would draw! Ps how do clear your mould lines?? Such clean work, would be great if you could do a small tips episode on how you do such an amazing job on those, amazing work!😀
Thanks Steve, and very high praise! 🙏 I use my hobby knife for gently scraping away mould lines. It’s a Stanley folding pocket knife, and I completely swear by it.

gonna try and get that stompa box set today...found a shop that still has it...at least they still did 4 weeks ago ...pray for mw that its still there

Thing i hate about the official stompas is all of them are the same thing with a dumb skirt, Orks would build all sorts of Stompa, Crab Stompa with rockets to help the legs move faster cuz why not?
This was a build for a friend, so I didn’t stray too far from the plan. I would love to do a custom build on one of these, and a rocket-powered crab Stompa would be hilarious. Especially if it can only move sideways!!

Did GW never update the instructions for this? It seems like it should be relatively easy to do, I just built one of the older model Dreadnoughts and it had an updated instruction manual with numbered parts.
Earlier this year, GW released an Ork 'Stompa Boyz' Battleforce (sold out unfortunately) which had a Stompa in it. I'm assuming they wrote fresh instructions for that release, so hopefully they've now updated the main kit too.

Treat myself to this model for working so much over Christmas but the instructions are so bad, I have no idea how to assemble the rockets or attach the shoulder pads

And it will be a nightmare to paint when glued to together. Models this size should be painted in sub-assembly.
Couldn’t agree more! There’s lots of poster putty holding this together so that the owner can take it apart easily and paint it in sub-assembly.
BAD, very bad! It was my first huge model and it was a nightmare building it
I love the finished kit, but I’m not in any hurry to build another one!
