The Stompa is the one must have, for an Ork player, just to have. No Ork collection would be without it. It's like us Necron collectors not having a Monolith, just for the cool model.
I’ve always been tempted to scratch build one myself rather than shelling out the big bucks, but I suppose the box is a great excuse to pull the trigger!
The new Custodes combat patrol I think is better than the battlebox, you get guard, wardens, terminators and a blade champion, all useful units. The issue with the battlebox is the 6 bikes, they are not great in game and people have a lot of them anyway because you get 3 in the previous combat patrol. I also think the combat patrol is more points per dollar than the battlebox, it's honestly probably best for people starting a custodes army to see if they can pick up the old combat patrol and the new combat patrol, IIRC that gets you around 1.4k points without building any shield captain and basically gives you a nice core to the army, with 2 guard units, 1 warden, 1 terminator, 3 bikes, some sisters and a blade champion. So you only need to spend a little more to add say Trajam, maybe some more wardens/guard and you will have 2k.
But also the battle force and the new combat patrol do get you immediately to 2k points! For a new player just having to buy 2 (discount) boxes for an entire army is pretty enticing I'd say.

I honestly love Stompy, he is big impractical mega delicate and just about everything one doesn't want to bring to a game. But still he is just awesome. Congratulations on getting awarded and featured on Warhammer community you deserve it after all the work you put into him.
I understand what your saying on the ork box but hear me out. I Purchased the Combat Patrol 2 yrs ago. Then this past xmas I got the Stampede box set. Now this box is coming , and it literally gives me such a huge collection of Orks to work with owning all 3 boxes. The Stompa to me was something I wanted but wouldn't buy on it's own tbh really. So having it come with the box really was awesome for someone like me looking to just expand my Ork collection along with at some point more options for play! I've been waiting on this battleforce since the moment I saw it was coming , Im so excited!!!!!
You are wrong about the Ork Army Box, HEAR ME OUT! Sure your logic makes sense, but the thing you are forgetting is that this is for ORKZ! And what do ORKZ do? KONVERSHUNS! Personally, I am buying two, but I might want even more. I want to konvert the stompas to make the OOP Forge Wold stompas, the Klaw-Stompa and Mek-Stompa, but I also want to just use the parts to make a plastic Kill-tank, or some other konvershuns. One of the trukks will be used to make Mek-Gunz, and the other will be used to make a half-trakk for my Mega-Nobz. And there is ALWAYS room for more Boyz! In short, this is not a "must-have" for new Ork players, but it is a GREAT box for veteran Ork collectors!
Regarding photography: they would or should be using focus stacking for product photos, especially for big ones like stompy! So you take focused shots of parts of the model then stack them together to have everything in focus!
The stompa is going to he a very funny choice in the new ork dreadmob detachment. You can give him a +1 to hit in the end of the movement phase from an ork mek boy, then spend 1cp on a stratagem for reroll all hits in exchange for a hazardous test on each weapon.
Great work on the Titan. May I suggest a simple basing diorama for the Warhound. A Tech-Priest Dominus walking in front with the Warhound on a long chain leash 👍
The stompa box looks perfect for me as a returning Ork player, just enough burnas and lootas to bring my 10 man squads to full force, new character, and something to face off with Knights. With the points I already have it's almost perfectly enough to put me at 2k with units I use
Jay I’d love to see that Tau Diorama. Maybe give the Ork some type of garbage gun which would never get through a Tau shield but because he believes hard enough it starts to work. You could even make a nice title plate for it saying “Beleef”
I was gonna buy the ork battle force and use the stompa kit to make some scuffed gorka/morkanauts(1 of each using the stompa’s arms to differentiate between them) and maybe use whatever leftover panels I have from tearing it apart to make some grot tanks with, along with some kataphron Breacher treads
With the codex the Stompa is no joke, it's unlikely to be a competitive staple but the Dread Mob makes it kinda hilarious. I've wanted one for a while, it's big and stupid and therefore proper orky, the battleforce just let me get one pkus some other things I was after at a healthy discount
I think a cool idea for Don’t look back is the model of the old FPS unreal tournament guy. Available from Hardcore miniatures. Imagine a space worror dropped into a campsite and all he knows is kill them all. That’s a cool mashup.
If you entered into the 30k event you could throw in a destroyed Deimos predator and paint it in word bearer colours, like you speculated on doing as an army a while ago
I can remember my mate found a ork mech that can piolet a forge world mech stompa for like 200-250pts less than the stompa its self and he also give is a void sheild! when he found out he can do this it would bring this every game with like 60-90 shooter around it and just win.... and ye he would allways upgrade with belly cannon and two gun arms! this was way back in a older edition!... when forge world had a mech stompa! and well forge world was a thing and made baggers of models
The stompa is definitely the free model. It hardly sells and GW knows that so dangeling the new big mek and a decent number of troops and a truck for new or veteran players was the goal. It remains to be seen if the new Ork codex will make the stompa better so its good to have it just in case. Otherwise its a cool project to display on the shelf. Also, Its hard to make a bad Custodes box. The jetbikes are definitely from the old Combat Patrol. The battleforce goes well with both the new and old CP so its a great time to start the army. $600 for almost everything in the range is such a great deal!! FW models would be the only thing you would need, which all the money you saved can be put towards a few of those kits.
ive been getting into warhammer again after over a decade, i wanna do 40K(have 640 points into a Salamanders army)but i also have love for the seraphon, i was wondering if the Vanguard boxes were good for them, like if they are a good combat patrol, like the old dark angels box, or a kinda turd one, like the new dark angels box.
Ork Battleforce aka: We can't sell stompas because they cost too many points and its rules suck so if we put it in a box with a discount maybe people will buy the overstock we have.
I have the old combat patrol box and a box of terminators, so that's my 1000pts custodes army, and I was looking at the the battle force box until they revealed the combat patrol, and to be honest I think I'd rather the combat patrol and maybe another box of jet bikes than the battleforce now, and that will give me pretty much near 2000 pts before I start looking at Forgeworld and allied Knights

Overwatch... yeah... I had a game, where my oponent rolled 7 attacks. There were 6 sixes. Sustained hits. The 7th. Attack he was able to reroll and it also became a six. That was tough for the squad. I lost that gane in the end by less than 5 points, so I would say, that this overwatch was a slight gameswinger.
The Kroot one was good because it was about giving Kroot their spotlight, just like the Beast-Snaggas for Orks a few years ago. This Ork box looked like garbage and an excuse to move the Stompa.
Oops we made too many Ork Stompas combined with oops we didn't make the rules good enough in 9th edition. Solution a box set of useful units with a free Stompa.

But isn’t a Stompa a cool thing to have on the shelf behind you and if you’re opponent doesn’t know the rules then it looks like.. My army is so great I don’t even need to bring that ( half a game board monster) to beat you.
You can never go wrong with buying what you like. For the past two years ive built killa kans, deff dreads, and a lot of mekanized units. Everyone asked whyd i bother since Snaggas were “more efficient” Now Snaggas are looking like they’re underwhelming and the Mek units are all the hype. But that was never the plan. I just hobbied what I liked

For the yeti mini, paint it all in Musou Black, to capture the fuzzy photo effect. Did that for a mothman mini & it's hilarious but effective.
