Most singers try to start hitting higher notes by 'pushing higher'. Maybe you've done this: Playing a note on the keyboard and then inching your pitch (and your face and neck) upwards until you hit the desired note.
Or maybe you're able to hit crazy high notes when you're fooling around, but as soon as you go to sing a song, you tense up and lose the ability to hit those same higher pitches and more. You start working against yourself!
In this lesson, I'm going to show you three unconventional 'exercises' to help you unlock the ability to sing high WELL... Without the face and neck tension... Without the reaching or pushing! It's not about working up to a note, it's about learning how to let go, and let your voice access those notes.

In 7 or 8 months or so I have improved SO MUCH, pretty much exclusively using your videos! I get compliments from my friends about how good I sound and I tell them, Chris Liepe look him up. This style of teaching is by far the best and has to at least cut the time it takes to learn in half, probably even more. The tip on placing the vowel sound forward is something I wasn't aware of at all. This is a huge shift in the way I have been going about it with trying to create as much power and tone from the back of my throat, neck and tongue muscles. I can tell from your example that by placing vowels forward and mentally shifting the pitch to the front of your mouth on how clear and bright the notes get as the pitch is worked on and raised. Very cool. I am learning something every video and a lot from your "Discover Your Voice" course. Thanks, Chris!

Really cool idea of separating vowel placement from tone. There are certain songs that I can always sing and they seem to lead me to really rich tones even in ascending passages that cross the breaks, but other times I feel things shutting down. I’m just starting to discover how to relax through the break from head to falsetto and open things up and get the kind of resonant timbre I hear from my favorite singers. Thanks!
