    I’m glad you guys got good production results! I worked for Dowell years back and ran one the the frack units in the south. I’ll add a little info to your post. We fracked basically in 2 different rock strata, granite/sandstone or clay based rock and each required a different type of fracking fluid, petroleum or slick water depending on whether it was hard rock or clay. Also the petroleum wells have steel casing all the way to the bottom of the bore, this prevented any contamination in the shallow part of the well where “surface water aquifers” were at. We did a vertical project well in Temple Tx where the depth was around 10,000 feet. There were about 8 frack units running together pumping LPG as the fracking agent, it took around 16,000 psi to get the rock to release, at this point there were hundreds of fissures that opened up on a horizontal plane into the oil bearing zone, once the fracture occurred, we then increased flow rate and pumped a propping agent of coarse sand out into fissures that held them open to enhance the flows into the well bore. The whole fracking process is very similar to the water well frack. They pump clean water as the fracking agent, pump under a pressure until the rock releases, this is when you see the pressure go from high and the drop off. But they don’t use a propping agent, it apparently just opens the rock up or water bearing zone. Also I don’t think the casing goes to the bottom of the well just deep enough to prevent surface ground water from contaminating the drinking water in the well. The issue with petroleum fracking is fluid or oil/gas contamination is more likely in well that have been horizontally bored into the production zone as the frack cracks and micro cracks are now vertical and may extend to near the surface or aquifer. It can be dicey to predict how the cracks will form. There’s a lot of study of the rock strata that the drill passed through to determine what reactions will occur. There’s been a lot of bad focused on the few frack jobs that have caused issues. This process has been in use since the late 20’s. Granted people don’t know a lot about the process and a few new stories is all it takes to dumb the people down and make them fearful of the process. I hope I have shed a little more knowledgeable info on fracking.

    That is excellent news in regard to obtaining a good flow... Our well is kind of deep, the water level comes up to 17 feet below the surface though, and our pump doesn't need to be that much deeper. Looking forward to your updates and progress! Best wishes for much success, always! Watching and Supporting - LIKING all of your video!

    I am so pleased that you now have an abundant supply of clean clear water for your homestead. A RED hand pump in your garden area could be a quaint decorative item, but would also be most helpful for washing dirt off vegetables, garden tools and your hands (or feet). I have to tell you that I still have very fond memories of walking to the barn with a tea kettle of boiling water in the early morning hours of winter. The water in the barn's hand pump pipe would freeze overnight; and, pouring the boiling water down the pipe thawed the ice and allowed the water to be pumped again. It was always a blessing when we had enough boiling water left in the tea kettle to warm the cold water in the bucket for our horses' first drink in the morning. Ahh, memories.

      +Linda Cummings thank you for sharing that! We were wondering what we would have to do about a pitcher pump freezing in the winters! We do want to be able to have the hand pump available year round so we are looking into that for exactly the reasons you stated❤️

    Thanks for the information. Can I ask about how much you spent on the fracking? Just spent 10k on a well that is only producing 1gpm and it’s 520’ deep. This may have to be my next options

      Oh boy. Same situation as we were in. The fracking was done by the same company and I think it was about 3 thousand. I know the entire well and fracking was close to 14....It really set us back a bit but having plenty of water is essential!

    Hi! Love your content - just found you both and subscribed and will certainly be returning for more info! We have been TERRIFIED about the well situation on a property we are buying. There’s a 600’ well and only 0.5GPM - you’ve made us feel great about fracking the well to get that GPM to a satisfactory level. Did your flow test stay around 5GPM after everything settled? Anything else you can advise us as we go into this well water rehab process. Thanks!

      Welcome! I believe we are still at 5 gallons per minute however we have not tested it and we have not installed a well pump yet. We will be doing that this coming summer while we build our Earth sheltered house. Our well level fluctuates during the season so we are interested to see how it all works out. Wish I could help you more, but that’s where we are at right now. Hope everything works out for you!

    Wait ... they said they went 70 feet below the well head to reach water, and they fracked 50 feet below that. So why did they later say they went down 324 feet, with the pump at 400 feet? This is very confusing.

    • @CreatingASimplerLifeOffGrid
      @CreatingASimplerLifeOffGrid  3 роки тому

      Fracking is done 50 feet below the well head. Our well head is at 20 feet, so the went down a total of 70 feet to frac. The 324 feet was just the level that it reached for the guy to calculate the flow rate. 400’ will probably be the depth that we will drop a pump down the well to pump from when we build.

    Tracking is sometimes only a temporary fix, sometimes the cracks in the rock that fracking creates fills themselves back in .a six inch pipe holds around a gallon per foot .drilling another two hundred and then fracking gives you another two hundred gallons of water just in case the frac is unsuccessful .did the well company tell you that if it doesn't work and they have to reset over that hole it cost more than just drilling another 300 ft. 300 ft deeper on top of the two hundred or so you want w/o Up give you almost 500 gallons of water so even if the recovery time on the well was 2 gallons per minute you would have enough water to do there 900 gallons in six hours or whatever they require in my state .

    • @CreatingASimplerLifeOffGrid
      @CreatingASimplerLifeOffGrid  3 роки тому

      Wife’s a geologist so we know. Also, our well is 680 feet deep so almost 900 gallons of storage in there. It’s also artesian so that’s something.

      @@CreatingASimplerLifeOffGrid thank you for the response. Lots of people don't know this stuff and get taken advantage of or just flat out robbed by well companies .i learned this the hard way .well company hit water at a pocket at 200 ft and because I didn't tell him to stop drilling he kept going to the full depth of his contract before he had to contact me to go deeper. Static height of the well at 200 ft was even with the grade .when I drilled for pitless adapter I had to wear waders
