      @@vwald I couldn't bend the pin with my everyday hammer either. So I got an iron mallet out and gave the pin a couple thumps with that, and it bent pretty easily to exactly the right curve. Try that!

    I’m glad I found you! Im going to try this . My daughter’s door recently started opening and closing whenever a breeze comes in when her window is open. I told my hubby about it, but we’re tired of waiting on him 😂 Plus, he’s working on a pretty big ‘Honey Do’ list for me as it is. I’m sure I can do this without bothering him. Thanks so much!

    • @DavidsTutorials
      @DavidsTutorials  5 років тому +3

      Hope it works as well for you as it has for me and for some others here in the comment section! If the breeze keeps moving the door, you might need to do more than one hinge pin, or figure something else out.

    I wasn’t looking for this but yours is the 2nd video in as many days that randomly popped up in my suggested showing how to fix this problem. Decided I’d give it a try with the nursery door that has had this issue since we moved into our house 3 1/2 years ago and hey, what do you know, no more ghost door. Thank you!
    Meanwhile, I still have to trim the door so it stops hitting the head jamb, but that’s a project for another day. How in the world did the original owners of this 1974 built house not fix these issues themselves?!?!

    • @DavidsTutorials
      @DavidsTutorials  3 роки тому

      I know what you mean, Nathan. Sometimes I wonder why *I* haven't already repaired some of the things I finally get to. But I'm glad this helped you fix THAT item. Now, as for the door that binds in the head jamb, I fixed my similar problem using a rasp-plane. like one on this Amazon page: amzn.to/3aJyUcv. I simply dismounted the door by pulling the hinge pins, then planed down the door where it was binding. It took two sessions to get it right, but it hasn't been a problem since. (This was before I started this channel, or I could have made a video of THAT! 🤣)Take care.

    Thanks for the video. I was about to look online to shop items to fix it, and your method did the trick. I had to bend the first two hinge pins for it to stay open. I think I'll do the bottom one for good measure as well.

    Unbelievable!!!!
    It was opening by itself for years. Watched this video.
    Worked in two minutes on the first try.
    Don’t bend it too far. Just a little !
    Thank You Sir !!!

    Unbelievably easy fix! I asked a carpenter how to fix this when we had some construction done on our home and he said it’s a lot of trouble and didn’t offer to make an attempt. Maybe I’ll show him if I see him again…

    Excellent. Just did this exact thing due to an attic door not fully closing. The wood expanded during the Summer and forced the door latch rearward. Two small pilot holes approximately 1mm left and boom💥 All fixed. 👊🏽

    Incredible. As a first-time homeowner I was getting sick and tired of my pantry door hitting me in the butt or enveloping me in complete darkness. I was a little nervous that bending/damaging the pin would give me more problems - but I was certainly wrong!
