    My Favorite Turmeric Tea Recipe
Turmeric tea brings together some of my absolute favorite flavors. The spices, milk and honey combine in truly magical ways. Here’s what you will need to make your very own homemade turmeric tea.
Note: In the following recipe, a “pinch” is about 1/8 of a teaspoon.
    1 teaspoon of turmeric powder
    1 cup of filtered water
    A pinch of black pepper
    A pinch of powdered ginger
    1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
    A pinch of nutmeg
    1/2 inch ginger root, sliced
A pinch of allspice, for flavor (optional)
A milk product of your choice. I’m using almond milk (optional)
    Honey (optional)
Have you ever tried turmeric tea? In what other ways do you like to use turmeric in your cooking? Please join the conversation.

I have been having ground turmeric tea for some time now for anti-inflammatory purposes. It helps! The way I make it: in 1 and 1/2 cups of water I add 1 and 1/2 teaspoons of ground turmeric, 1/2 teaspoon of freshly ground black pepper, 1 clove, 1 cardamom, a generous pinch of cinnamon, and lemon juice. I let it boil for about 10-12 minutes. Then I strain it and add honey. It's delicious!!! I don't add milk (or almond milk which is what I usually use for cereal), but I would like to try it that way some day.

Thanks! I tried this recipe (with a few of my own tweaks) and was SHOCKED how super DELICIOUS it is!!! Tastes like a Chai tea! I am NOT a turmeric fan...I was so afraid this would taste terrible, but with knee trouble I'm willing to try anything. Happy I did! Thank you!

Very similar to the tea I make. I add a star anise and a little honey. The best is new Zealand mauka honey, but hard to find. I also love to make a pot full of tea, strain and refrigerate. This is very refreshing in hot weather, add a sprig of mint and enjoy your cocktail.

I love this stuff! I drink it everyday, it’s delicious! I make it by the batch full , and let it ferment on the counter..no refrigeration. With in two days, you have a powerful, delicious, concoction of wonderfullness! Lol, it’s that good! Goes great with ginger cookies too! I just love the way it smells while its cooking. Kind of reminds me of the Holidays all year round. Thanks for the recipe!

Hi. How much do you call a batch full, and do you refrigerate it after the 2 days? And do you add honey to add the fermentation? Sorry to trouble you, but I would really like to try this as I think it would fit into my diet as a natural probiotic. (Right now I rely on fermented garlic dills, which are seasonal).

I so wished I liked tea :( It really makes me gag. I think the reason is that when I was younger, my mother would make me drink different teas for different ailments and I now, just can't swallow. I have fibromyalgia and know that both ginger and tumeric are excellent for inflammation. Could you please describe the taste to me? Would lemon or orange take from the tea it's nutrition or effect?

    • @sixtyandme

Hi Gloria - not an expert on teas so encourage you to do some online searches. Taste is so hard to describe - but ginger and turmeric are kind of 'smoky tart' - add a little honey and the taste is lovely. Best to experiment and good luck!
