I did this to my son. He said “mommy you look stupid”. I said “oh yeah? How do you think you look doing the same thing!?!” He never did it again.
You definetly looked dumber doing that.
Your doing that is to show your son how annoying and disruptive it is for a child who is throwing a fit by having a tantrum at a public place for not having what they were expecting to have.

See, okay, my sister is 12 years older than I am and I’m currently 18
She has 2 kids, one with cerebral palsy and one a hyper devil child
The girl, hyper devil child, is constantly begging me to play with her and do things for her and there’s times where I give up and act like she does
“BUT I JUST WANT YOU TO PLAAAAAYYYYYY” “BUT I HUDT WANT YOU TO LEAVE ME ALOOOONNNNNEEEE”
It doesn’t work, I’ve done this, also doesn’t work
If anything she laughs at me and starts to get even more worked up

It's wonderful stuff. Singes your snout and tastes appalling if it gets down your throat but it stops a cold dead in its tracks.
