Generally, that’s all watch enthusiasts. The stereotypical (to an outsider) “watch lover” who frowns upon anything less than $10k is actually frowned upon by true enthusiasts. True watch enthusiasts would wear a 13 dollar Casio one day and a Rolex the next.
My two sons have shown an interest in watches and now I have a good shopping list for Christmas! I would compliment anyone wearing any of the watches that you displayed! Great job!
Your affordable 3 choices are perfect. Most video creators would try to mix it up with diff brands just for the sake of having multiple brands - but it’s true that Seiko just excels in every category for great value watches.
This is what makes watches so fascinating. I had that Cartier tank, but the Vermeil flaked off. It was nice when it was new. I bought my son a Seiko Tuna, and he loves it. I’ve owned three Rolexes, two of them Subs. All sold. To me, Rolex is a fine $3500 watch that costs you $10K. LOL
@@thulegezelschap5884 The Vostok can pick up scratches, but if they are not too deep, easily buffed out with a microfiber cloth and any mildly abrasive product. I have used toothpaste, Brasso, automotive chrome cleaner and polishes, Scratch-X, all with success.
BTW, I need your opinion, a metal band tri-fold one-touch watch that meets everyday hand-washing, an ocassional splash in the pool, simple black dial and most of all under $100. Is that a crazy demand ?
Thoroughly enjoyed the video. I just purchased a Seiko "Save The Ocean" watch a few days ago and I'm looking for videos that show how the strap is adjusted for size. Thanks for the great service that you offer!
I'm partial to GMT watches personally -- these provide an extra level of practical due to that 4th hand. After all, given that the primary function of a watch should be to tell time, having the ability to simultaneously track 2 (or 3 even) time zones makes these watches 2-3x more useful. I think they look nice too!
The watches I currently own happen to be exactly at the $1000 mark: Seiko 5 SNZG13 - everyday beater watch Christopher Ward C5 Malvern 595 - dress watch Seiko skx007 - sports watch
Bought a Seiko 5 Monster, white face about 10 years ago. This watch runs and runs. Great lume and never had a problem with it. I take great care of all my watches and never have that beat-up look. No scratches on the crystal and several times a year get a nice complement on it. Highly recommend getting one!
Seiko and Casio, have earned their place in the watch wolrd, they aren't so popular without a reason! Rolex, Pateks , Jacobs, all are great watches, but these kind of watches are only good for keeping them in a safe as jewels. Seikos, are the way to go, for a good battery trouble free, lifetime watch!!
I have three watches that I was able to squeeze under $1000 that can rival it. I got my SKX 013 for $150 (Dive/Sport), Hamilton Khaki Mechanical for a steal at $200 (Everyday/Field), and a stunning Stowa Marine Klassik for $650 (Dress/Casual). I also love that they are all made in different countries.
Yep, a similar choice variety of Citizen eco drive. A choice of leather through to titanium to make them yours. Also way under $1000.. The squeeze tab unlocking stops metal brackets from springing open
@@JoshPendergrassFilms that's just your opinion, I for one have both Citizen and Rolex watches. Completely different leagues, the Rolex watches are pretty nice but with the Citizen I'm never worried about damaging it or beating it up and enjoy wearing it just as much. At the end of the day you are paying over the odds for a Rolex, but it is what it is.
My 3 are: Sports: Omega Planet Ocean 42mm (220151) Dress: Rolex oyster perpetual date , stainless steel in White with the fluted bezel Everyday: Seiko Alpinist (also in green but with a Hearst pilot strap) My bonus: 1973 Seiko single barrel chronograph. Made in the original Nagano factory. (This was handed down to me by pops who was a sailor for 42 years and picked it up new in Japan. Lots of scratches from working on ship engines in the middle of the ocean. Miss that guy...)
Most beautiful watch: Take an in person look at the Seiko SARX029 Black laquer Urushi dial with Black and Gold genuine Alligator strap. My new purchase. Love it 😊
I combined the two: three watches that I own, and I paid $1000 for the three... Orient Bambino, Seiko Alpinist, Christopher Ward Trident Quartz. Bought all new, but on sale.
Just got a Mako, had to try it for $160. Very very impressive for so cheap with hand winding! I measured 2 sec fast/day! And amazing power reserve! Love the lume too!
Eddie Isaacs - I've been very impressed with Orient. My son has an Orient Star that's quite nice. However, our boy Jory is not sold on the Mako. When he meets one face to face maybe he'll change his mind.
there must be a reason why they are so successful and so highly regarded. I just hope the hands don't fall off lol It won't be around long enough to find out. I have decided to part ways with it, it just won't get enough wrist time here, but I had a ball with it for just a few pesos. And I may revisit. Orient Star, their higher level, seem interesting. This made me take note... wornandwound.com/review/orient-star-classic-review/
Pretty much how my collection would look like, but slightly different and more affordable. Dress: 1965 Doxa Sport: Casio DW5000SL daily wear: Seiko SNX111
My budget collection would be a Seiko SRP777 (which I own and love w/ that 007 NATO strap), SARB035, and Casio GShock DW5600. I don't know how you feel about digital quartz watches but IMHO some GShocks deserves respect.
1. Orient Bambino Gen II 2.Seiko SARB 033 3. Citizen NY 0040 I like your choices. These fit a budget under yours without sacrificing looks or quality. I enjoyed the video.
Out of what I own it's the Atlantic Worldmaster Original for dress, Glycine Combat Sub 48 as my preferred sports watch, and a black bezel Submariner as my go to for everything else My under $1k all of which I own would be a black dial Orient Bambino V3, Tissot V8 Chrono white dial with a leather band, and the SKX007 with a military green nato strap
I have Panzera Brauer 42 white dial for formal wear, Citizen Ca0650 with titanium bracelet as daily beater, now looking for some diver for sporty wear considering Seiko skx009, Phoibos py006b, Orient Ray 2 Raven or maybe some higher seikos like Seiko Dark Knight. What would recomend for sporty wear, i have 18,5 cm wrist. I'l wear it mostly with Bond nato strap some leather nato straps.
Rolex Explorer no date 39mm - in my opinion, this is most beautiful watch ever made. Seiko SKX007/009 - diver, beater, everyday watch, demands and earns respect, no nonsense watch. Nuf said! Omega Speedmaster Professional MOM - Perfect watch for every occasion, very versatile and iconic.
Ultimate 3 watch collection: 1. Zenith Elite - dress watch perfection. Ultra thin, 38 mm. I have one with GMT function. 2. Breitling Colt - versatile sports/everyday watch. Versatile. With the circle dial, it's beautiful as well. 3. Omega Speedmaster - need a manual. Been to the moon and a chronograph as well.
I agree with the SKX. Although the Orient Bambino may need a shout out in the mix for a dress watch under 1000. And maybe the Hamilton Khaki field watch.
I love the bambino to, but something about my dress watch being "technically" the lowest end of the three doesn't sit right. Darn better make it a 4 piece ;1
My top 3 in the rotation..Seiko 6309-7040( beater )...Mont Blanc star xl 38mm Chrono ( 5-6 days a week work watch..have to wear a suit ) sub ceramic no date for my days off..the sub gets less wear time than my Seiko as I'm mostly roughin' it.
You should get a Tank Solo or a solid gold Tank Louis. The must de Cartier lose it's lustre too soon, like your Tank where the gold plating started to wear off unevenly on the case
If you want a versatile watch that has everything and its not to distracting. I would go for the SEIKO SARB033, it can be found on the grey market for under 1k. If you want to go up a notch I would go with the TUDOR BLACK BAY 36mm. If you have all the money to throw at it the ROLEX EXPLORER 14270.
I would take the "cocktail time" over the Tank for sure, but its more a function of my wrist making the Cartier look like a ladies watch. Iconic design, but not practical for me.
The most ideal three-piece combo (not the cheapest) Sports: Casio G-Shock Mudmaster Everyday: Grand Seiko Snowflake Dress: Patek Philippe Calatrava 5227R
My expensive 3 piece collection would be a Nomos for dress, a Citizen Chronomaster Eco-Drive for everyday, and GS spring drive diver (sbga229) for sports, and I would have to add a g-shock square as a beater. Would be a few situations, where I wouldn't want to risk smashing that GS diver...
How time flies, really struggle to get those watches for sub $1k dollars now in the UK the sarb17 is circa £650, the skx007 £300ish and no money left for the cocktail!!
Orient Bambino for dress instead of the CT, a Tissot Everytime Swissmatic for casual, and a Citizen Promaster Titanium (BN0200) for sports and casual. White dial and minimalist design of the Tissot is more versatile (with outfits) than the green and gold Alpinist. It's not sporty though, but if you find yourself wanting that, it's a great reason to take out/wear the diver, which won't be dead, but deadly accurate, since it's a solar. The huge/heavy Seiko also isn't a good sports watch. Too heavy above the water. Alternatively I might get a Seiko Sarb033/035 instead of the Tissot. There's also an automatic version of the Promaster, but I actually think every collection should have at least 1 proper quartz piece.
My three all Seikos, that are worth keeping,....SRPB07J1 that could be a dress watch; a SRP680 for everything, and the SRPB55 Samurai for sporty and that one is kind of a beast with 200m water resistance...
Orient Symphony (dress), Orient Mako II (sport), vintage Tudor Prince Oysterdate with leather strap (my in-between). All for under 1K. Had a Christopher Ward C61 Trident Automatic but got rid of it - really liked it but just didn't love it...
Mine are my 1952 Omega Geneva, silver faced date just and my RGMT tritium diving watch. Those are the 3 of mine that I would have if just 3, I love my seiko watches.
I love the marine master but if i am to get a dedicated sports watch that doesn't break the bank, I'd probably get the ECO-Zilla. its solar powered, its 300m water resist, it has iincredible wrist precense and the design is just as gaudy, though also as lovable as the MM. i mean it looks like a diver helm!!!! a nautilus!!! ( not to be confused about the Patek Naut obviously ) respectable choices though, but wouldve loved it more if you added some "other options" in case its not availabe in certain countries. I.E. the all of the ones you recommended arent readiily available here in Canada, so it wouldve been the Orient Bambino for dress Hamilton Khaki for sports Citizen Ecozilla for sports Recreational or if you're extra cheap - Invicta Pro diver cause why the fuck not, its acutally a great watch for the price.
Great video and six great picks. Seiko are the tops for value. My 3 picks from my own collection would be..... Oris 65 Omega Speedmaster Reduced Sinn 104. For the under 1000.... Seiko Turtle SRP 777 Seiko Sarg 011 Seiko Aplinist.
That's basically what I would go for, but would swap the Sinn for something dressier - either an Omega Constellation Vintage or some Zenith Elite... Or if I had some serious cash a Blancpain? So many great dress watches to choose from. I would love to keep the Alpinist and ad a Datejust though... That goes to 5, I guess, so cheating a bit.
I currently have a 3 watch under $500 collection with Victorinox Infantry Quartz (brown dial rose gold SS) for EDC, the Orient Bambino V3 Bauhaus in Gray dial for dress and Orient Mako II blue daily as diver. For 2018 starting a 3 watch under $1000, however as these will be watches either myself (6.75 wrist) or wife (6.0 wrist) can wear need case to under 40mm and lug to be 20mm to allow variety looks with small number of straps and bracelet purchased. The Seiko 017 Alpinist is easy choice at 38mm with the diver being the Seiko SKX013 at 37-38mm and 20mm lugs. The question is the dress watch. Like a Mad Men look similar to the reissue 65 Timex Marlin but that is 34mm with 18 lug... any ideas under $400?
I own the SKX007 bought with 200$ and the SARB 065 ( second hand- 250$). The only watches i would add to the collection are orient ( the star classic). But Seiko is such a good buy, i guess you would definetly have to spend double the money to get a swiss equivalent.
Im not that into sports watches so Ill mix it up a bit (it's not a diver) Id go with: Dress: Tissot Open heart powermatic 80 Everyday: Seiko Prospex automatic Sports: Tissot PRX quarts I struggled with sport, as I could also pick a casio here, with the stop watch and such, but im not sure about the waterproofing.
Great video as always and great choices! My affordable collection would contain the: SARB033 (tried on the cocktail, too thick for my taste) SRP777 (better movement and finishing then the SKX007) F-91W (don't like the green on the SARB017, and you always need a watch that can take a beating)
@@lordbostitch6209 agreed wholeheartedly! And, I actually, have several Seiko and Orients for that. I just prefer having more money for feeding my family and helping a good cause instead of a Rolex.
I just found this channel and I love it, it is so sincere, not afraid to say what many snobs would call a blasfemy. As dress watches I like also the Orient Bambino. A new classy piece like Dan Henry 1939. As divers or sports I like the G-Shock solar and radiocontrolled or a CASIO Marlin. I also have the Alpinist and it is true it is the best of the best, a real icon for an affordable price, something of which SEIKO has quite a few
I guess for the 1k total collection, the dressy and sporty can merge great into a SARB033 for everyday use. As a pure dress watch I'd go with a Bambino v4 FAC08004D0 and as a diver I'd stick with the SKX013 over the 007. But your suggestions are great too, The Time Teller! What do you think of my collection?
Not a top 3, but actual 3 watch collection (almost): 1. Seiko SARB033 (currently in the mail) 2. Seiko SNK807 (currently magnetized, demagnetizer in the mail) 3. Victorinox Maverick Small (actually works and is on my wrist) I guess it's funny how the diver/sports watch is the smallest one on my list. I wouldn't mind an SKX013 instead of that Victorinox. I've just newly returned to collecting watches after a decade or so.
I dont understand why you would take the same mechanism in 2 different watches when you can only pick 3. I would go for seiko sarb033, citizen promaster eco drive and a g shock
I like the 3 watch concept. Right now I am still basking in the glory of my first "High end" watch (Ball Fireman Night Train) but my usual value three are: (Dress) Bulova Accutron II Moonview (battery powered, not quartz, but beautiful smooth movement.) (Sport) Invicta Pro Diver (NH35 movement, "Coke" bezel) (Everyday) Tecino B-URH (28,800 bph movement)
Watches are such a personal thing and I found your choices interesting but far too expensive for the majority.Personally I hate the look of all Rolex watches and their perceived status. For a guy, and to my eye, the Cartier looks effeminate and whilst I normally appreciate Seiko watches, the featured one in your first trio is overtly butch and clumsy to my eye.Neither can I see any style or attraction to the ones in your second string.Love your enthusiasm though but "one man's meat..."as they say...
I currently have the Seiko SARB065 "Cocktail Time" and the Seiko SARB017 "The Alpinist." Great watches. I considered the SKX as my next purchase but I think I'd rather branch out and go with a Hamilton Khaki

Alternatively I might get a Seiko Sarb033/035 instead of the Tissot. There's also an automatic version of the Promaster, but I actually think every collection should have at least 1 proper quartz piece.
Super cool! The three Watch collection I own is very similar. I have a SARB035, SARB017, and an SRP777.
+Nathan Gilmer can't go wrong with those! Love the alpinist.
Nathan Gilmer SPR777 is a nice watch, it's basically the same watch martin sheen wore in Apocalypse Now but only upgraded.
Sarb035 is awesome
No SKS ?
5:37 I love the "cartwheel luster" on the white dial of the Seiko dress watch. The green dial, too!
Skx007, Rolex sub, omega seamaster, Rolex Daytona, omega speed master
Rolex Deep Sea, Tudor Black Bay.
My three all Seikos, that are worth keeping,....SRPB07J1 that could be a dress watch; a SRP680 for everything, and the SRPB55 Samurai for sporty and that one is kind of a beast with 200m water resistance...
None float my boat. It's all personal I guess
Orient Symphony (dress), Orient Mako II (sport), vintage Tudor Prince Oysterdate with leather strap (my in-between). All for under 1K. Had a Christopher Ward C61 Trident Automatic but got rid of it - really liked it but just didn't love it...
You are a serious Seiko nut. Another great video bud
+Dave Mckenzie guilty as charged 😂 thank you!
Mine are my 1952 Omega Geneva, silver faced date just and my RGMT tritium diving watch. Those are the 3 of mine that I would have if just 3, I love my seiko watches.
Ah the old Mr. Goodman!!
Great watch the SKX007, I brought the Japanese domestic version last year it's still in it's box.
You had me at Alpinist.
+Namesi Ayyyy good taste
To each their own. Love Seiko, but that green and gold combo is something straight out of the 1970's.
Green is for the money, gold is for the honeys.
70s? Try 40s - 50s
Names
How about a Steinhart ocean 1 ceramic? I have one and I bought it for under $500. It looks great and very well built.
I love the marine master
but if i am to get a dedicated sports watch that doesn't break the bank, I'd probably get the ECO-Zilla. its solar powered, its 300m water resist, it has iincredible wrist precense and the design is just as gaudy, though also as lovable as the MM. i mean it looks like a diver helm!!!! a nautilus!!! ( not to be confused about the Patek Naut obviously )
respectable choices though, but wouldve loved it more if you added some "other options" in case its not availabe in certain countries. I.E. the all of the ones you recommended arent readiily available here in Canada, so it wouldve been the
Orient Bambino for dress
Hamilton Khaki for sports
Citizen Ecozilla for sports Recreational
or if you're extra cheap - Invicta Pro diver cause why the fuck not, its acutally a great watch for the price.
Alba watches of sriko are also good looking.
I went with the Orient Ray 2 over the SKX
Great video and six great picks. Seiko are the tops for value.
My 3 picks from my own collection would be.....
Oris 65
Omega Speedmaster Reduced
Sinn 104.
For the under 1000....
Seiko Turtle SRP 777
Seiko Sarg 011
Seiko Aplinist.
+mike o connor Good taste!
Wearing my Alpinist while watching this vid :)
+KillerQueen Great choice;)
The Time Teller It's my first watch, I recently got into watches a few months ago and I'm 15
That's an ultimate watch collection on its own, phenomenal iconic watch
My 3 watch collection.
Rolex datejust (used, daily wear, 2-tone)
Chronoswiss Opus (dress watch)
Rolex Submariner (no date), rubber strap
Where did you get your SKX print behind you? I must have one!
nine37 , thank me later.
+Tom S true
I own the SKX007 bought with 200$ and the SARB 065 ( second hand- 250$). The only watches i would add to the collection are orient ( the star classic). But Seiko is such a good buy, i guess you would definetly have to spend double the money to get a swiss equivalent.
You're like a vintage Federico Talks Watches. Good work sir
+Jeffrey Fox Thanks man!
Im not that into sports watches so Ill mix it up a bit (it's not a diver)
Id go with:
Dress: Tissot Open heart powermatic 80
Everyday: Seiko Prospex automatic
Sports: Tissot PRX quarts
I struggled with sport, as I could also pick a casio here, with the stop watch and such, but im not sure about the waterproofing.
Great video as always and great choices!
My affordable collection would contain the:
SARB033 (tried on the cocktail, too thick for my taste)
SRP777 (better movement and finishing then the SKX007)
F-91W (don't like the green on the SARB017, and you always need a watch that can take a beating)
+Chester Lau the srp777 is an awesome watch. Great taste as always, Chester!
Perfect 3 Seiko collection under $1k:
Sarb033 - sporty daily driver
SKX007 - diver
Sarb065 - dress watch & for special occassions
I was expecting 3 G-Shocks. Rolex is the last watch I would buy.
@@lordbostitch6209 agreed wholeheartedly! And, I actually, have several Seiko and Orients for that. I just prefer having more money for feeding my family and helping a good cause instead of a Rolex.
Gshock mud master does it all
SARB065 now close to $1000 for a clean example. Dang.
You don't need a dress watch if you slum it 24/7/365 lol
I agree that the cocktail time is a gorgeous watch. I also love the black dial SARB033. But with those two we’ve blown the $1000 budget!
1: G-Shock
2: G-Shock
3: G-Shock
Would you also include the G-Shock? Or maybe a G-Shock instead?
jdl 96 yea I mean are you really gunna wear a g-shock with a suit.
Rolex Explorer 214270 and Omega Seamaster, my two favs all day long !
You need a casio too!!!!
Not a top 3, but actual 3 watch collection (almost):
1. Seiko SARB033 (currently in the mail)
2. Seiko SNK807 (currently magnetized, demagnetizer in the mail)
3. Victorinox Maverick Small (actually works and is on my wrist)
I guess it's funny how the diver/sports watch is the smallest one on my list. I wouldn't mind an SKX013 instead of that Victorinox. I've just newly returned to collecting watches after a decade or so.
A caveman wearing a Cartier haha
Calling him caveman is an overstatement lol maybe primate
That watch would look absurd on him for sure. It has a very feminine presence.
I dont understand why you would take the same mechanism in 2 different watches when you can only pick 3. I would go for seiko sarb033, citizen promaster eco drive and a g shock
I like the 3 watch concept. Right now I am still basking in the glory of my first "High end" watch (Ball Fireman Night Train) but my usual value three are:
(Dress) Bulova Accutron II Moonview (battery powered, not quartz, but beautiful smooth movement.)
(Sport) Invicta Pro Diver (NH35 movement, "Coke" bezel)
(Everyday) Tecino B-URH (28,800 bph movement)
I disagree with the best sports watch. IMHP the Omega Seamaster Professional watch. It is affordable on the used market.
1. Sport: Seiko SKX007 (movement swap-hand winding, hacking, sapphire crystal).
2. Dress: Orient Star Classic.
3. Casual: Seiko SARG011.
It's not fair to mock this man, he clearly has severe learning difficulties.
A third watch could have been a Timex chrono/or weekender with indiglo. So you would have got a quartz in your collection for everyday use.
David Mitchell day m
I currently have the Seiko SARB065 "Cocktail Time" and the Seiko SARB017 "The Alpinist." Great watches. I considered the SKX as my next purchase but I think I'd rather branch out and go with a Hamilton Khaki
