    Welcome to Chasing Latitudes! Have you ever imagined the smell of the ocean air as your boat crashes through the waves? The freedom that comes from casting off the bow lines and heading out to sea to explore new places you can’t reach by car or airplane? Then this channel is for you.
    You will not see white sand beaches here, restaurant reviews, beach parties, selfies or Japanese knives. What you will find is factual information based on decades of sailing experience.
    My channel is specifically meant for one thing and one thing only, to help YOU find your new to you fancy-dancy yacht of your dreams and get on the water in the fastest, most time efficient manner.
    Don’t get caught up in looking at old boats! I focus on mostly newer vessels, built in 2000 or later because I want you to spend as much of your time as possible sailing, not practicing your restoration skills on an old boat attempting to bring it to its former glory.
    You want to take advantage of the amazing newer technology and modern hull designs when it comes to sailing. This is going to make your vessel far easier to sail solol or short handed and make them far more comfortable and efficient to live aboard full time or even just weekenders without buying more boat than you need.
    I offer a wide variety of services including consulting where I will take you through the entire process of how to budget properly, choosing what vessel size will work for your needs, what type of vessel, I will help you shop for vessels, determine offer prices, schedule surveys, talk with brokers, teach you how to do your own pre-survey, walk you through hiring the correct surveyor and help you avoid all of the common pitfalls that you will find when purchasing used sailing vessels.
    The consulting does not stop there, I will be with you every step of the way and long after you have purchased your vessel as consulting also comes with lifetime access to the members area,.
    Chasing Latitudes hosts a large, active private members area where the members are more than happy to offer their own experience to solve problems, host private videos for ASA Sailing quizzes (ASA 101, 103, & 104), and live stream videos which feature anything from member cruising to boat shopping, boat comparisons, and other live content with chat from the subscribers to my UA-cam channel and channel members.
    It’s time for YOU to get on the water. Come aboard!

    If you go to class - check sail - then check catamaran - your search will be more refined

    To me it seams a 40 foot plus mono has more usable “lounge” space downstairs. In the proper configuration that is, 2bed+2bath. Galleys seem larger also, so do the bedrooms

    Thank you Chris, great advice as always. I was on these type boats earlier this year at the boat show in Seattle. They are amazing, the livable space was incredible, but so were the prices. Lol. Way out of my price range that's for sure. This video reminds me to concentrate on enjoying where I am as I get to where I want to be in my sailing journey. ⛵😊

    Ex charter boat make sense to me for monohull but not really for catamaran. Mainly because they are too new and cannot afford them. The sweet spot is between 6 and 12 years old for catamaran (for me). More then 20 years old, they become money pit and currently sit on the market for a long time. Great advise on upgrades, Lithium batteries and solar (not that easy to do), then use it and see what you need. From experience, I would add proper downwind sail, a water maker, AC in my cabin and a washing machine, in that order.

    Catamaran market was way up for last couple years but has been going down recently or so I've heard and seen on some other channels.

    When you add up what an owner has put in, let's say $100k worth of extra gear, that is now 2nd hand gear, so it shouldn't be included as if it's brand-new price, IMHO.

    The 2019 leopard 45, from the interior it looks more like a beautiful apartment, not a boat. It's just a dream. Thanks for your presentation.
    I do wonder, how long will this times last, where every noob with some money can buy such a true dream? I am suspicious that this time will not last, and with all the fearmongering going on, we are close to the end of an area. Prophecy tells me big changes are underway, too bad! Enjoy while the times last!

    Another filter is check the "sail" category and set the engine # to 2

    Bummed I missed this one. If views don’t hit expectations , maybe less subject and more time and day of week. Still find the Lagoon owners cabin cats post 2016 to be my favorite.
    Unfortunately I’m not alone.
    BTW: beyond purchase advice and calling out y’rubers stupidity, have you considered doing a “getting started” series? Eg; what to look for in sailing classes, most important licenses to get, etc.

    Great info again! Love looking at the numbers side of ownership, even if my wallet goes into convulsions doing so 🤣
    Looking at the compare between the Leopard 40's, that 100k difference in kit is easily covered by install cost/time for the upgrade(s). Even if you're able to buy "cheap" and do the work on your own (or someone you know is willing to do most of it for you for "free"). Really, the only likely benefit would be that you can do the upgrades as time/money allowed, and (as you said) look for deals on equipment. But even that means you're potentially going to be on the hard more (and paying for each of those haul-out/splash cranes, yard time, etc...) depending on where you're docked and what work you're doing.
    As much as I'd love to go cat, It's really the only thing keeping me from pulling the trigger. 2x the boat for 3x the cost lol

    How does TAX affect the prices for these boats?

    • @ChasingLatitudes
      @ChasingLatitudes  7 місяців тому +1

      depends on where you register it, tax is no different with these than any other vessel depending on where you register

      @@teakseller uscg registration is 0 tax, there will be a 1% import tax, just like every single vessel on the planet, nothing vague about it, When it comes to registering in a state every state has its own sales tax again just like every vessel, so again nothing vague about it.

      @teakseller 7 місяців тому

      the number is 1.5% to the US plus sales tax (as normal)for the state. If these boats were to be registered in EU, there could be a really heavy tax (like 20% or more). It is definitely something to be verified by each buyer depending on what their plan is. @@ChasingLatitudes

      The best part was where he says he knows the best way to filter and then that.
