Thank you for the recipe. I haven’t lived in East St. Louis since I was eight years old. Only get this taste when family comes to visit. Wish I had thought to look this up when my mother was still alive.
Girl I’ve made this rice 3xs and it hits every time. I live in the Lou but when I’m on a budget it definitely gets the job done. Thanks for the recipe.
I'm from St. Louis too, the city might I add and have been looking for a recipe for fried rice, I was told to use dark soy as well as regular soy but I think I like what you did. It looks really good thank you for sharing.
Lol dark rice is the best rice. It’s always best to add less and then continue to add more as needed as far as the soy sauce. I would start with 1/3 of a cup first then go from there
When using your cutting board, please put a damp towel, paper works, to prevent that board from sliding around on the counter. Sliding of your board cans be dangerous. I’m going to try your recipe. Thanks
Hi! I live about 50 miles so of st Louis. Go there alot. Ive been seeing videos of stl fried rice. I had never heard of it lol. I thought fried rice was fried rice lol. I love your video. Going to try this tomorrow evening!!
@@Twelve6Luxury I see that and you did good. Oyster and Dark Soy sauce is what you want. Cook w/ a seasoned Wok on High heat. You getting there. And I was born and raised on the West with YetBun😁 I'll be waiting on that update 👀
Yessss ‘ I’m from St LOUIS but living in LA , this looks so so good , you did it , that looks so St Louis , the fried rice here is 👎🏾👎🏾👎🏾not fried rise , it’s rice with peas and carrots in it , awful, thanks for the recipe 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
@@Twelve6Luxury I know what you are saying! I was just thinking of "kicking it up a notch", but I sure would hate to waste a pan of original! Thanks for the reply.

BEAUTIFUL!! looks like the old school that they used to sell in the restaurants in the 1960's and 70's not peas and carrots nasty.
I made this fried rice for my kids and they loved it. Very easy recipe thanks for sharing.

thanks for feedback i’ve been having this same problem hoping she solved my problem..
I think the taste your missing is the sweet soy sauce
You have to use dark soy sauce
😂😂🤔 MSG

Nice 👍 what cooking oil do you use ?
Girllllllll. YUM!!
I love my shrimp fried rice brown too. How much soy sauce do you use so that it won't be super salty?
Lol dark rice is the best rice. It’s always best to add less and then continue to add more as needed as far as the soy sauce. I would start with 1/3 of a cup first then go from there
@@Twelve6Luxury Thank you so much for that info
I can smell it through the screen!
Whys the rice darker in the thumbnail but light in the video ?
Why you so invested in the color? If you would like to make your own version feel free to do so. This is MY version, not yours.
@@Twelve6Luxury whatever sis
Did she edit this video. Where the music at?
I took the music out
@@Twelve6Luxury I really liked the music. But understood

Definitely fried rice isn't fried rice.. stl us different for one it's actually chop suey..lol
We ain't gone certify this as St.Louis style but it looks good
That’s fine. However I’m born and raised in St Louis and I’ve been perfecting my rice as close as possible. Stay tuned for an updated version.

Adding a little fish sauce really makes it taste right

Hahaha I feel you! I live in Houston and it’s just as trash here! I swear no one understands how good STL rice is, it’s unmatched
@@Twelve6Luxurylol I’m a Houston girlie. But have you tried T&T seafood? It’s hard to find some good fried rice in Houston in general but theirs hit!
I neva seen some body from st.louis put carrots or peas in their rice
That’s because St Louis fried rice doesn’t include peas and carrots. That’s the beauty of it lol
@@Twelve6Luxury ik iam from st.louis
Has anyone ever added a can of diced tomatoes to this recipe?
Just seems like it would be good with the tomatoes.
Typically In STL fried rice there would be no tomatoes. However, anything is possible when you’re making it at home 😜

Two thumbs up
I'm from St. Louis too and we do have the best fried rice love it
Join the military I’m not in ST.”Louis s anymore
This is not correct. It has to be day old rice first.
Not St.Louis
That is correct. It should be day old rice.
