      It's a lot less exciting than you'd think...
      "Jebediah watched as Rebecca hung out her unmentionables on the laundry line. She noticed the sinful look in his eyes, and ran inside to tell her father. Her father did not hesitate to inform Reverend Stoltzfus, who immediately convened the council of excommunication to shun Jebediah from the community, as he was charged with being possessed by the devil

      @@dunkelmonkey But that night, sitting at the old wooden table her father made with his own two hands, Rebecca couldn't help but to wonder what it was that kept Jebediah looking at her. They grew up together, they played together, they learned to ride horse together, even change a wheel on a buggy, yet now he seems like an outsider with that lustful look in his eyes. Rebecca picked up the candle and walked over to where her mom was sitting in front of the hearth patching a quilt. "Mother, why did Jebediah look at me differently?"

    I live not too far from an Amish community. Back when I worked at the local Walmart, I will never ever forget the spring day I was sitting out front on my 15 enjoying a snack. I saw, in that parking lot, with my own 2 eyeballs, a horse and buggy with a FULL amish family in it leaving. It’s the only time I’ve ever seen one around here but that tells me they’re around

      Lol I see with my own two eyeballs the Amish going up and down the street that parallels my street. There's a community about 5 mi or so away. Sometimes On the weekends me and my husband get up early to go out to the market to buy their fresh produce. You have to get there really early because there is always a line a mile long waiting to get in and buy up all their good stuff.

    I think that the whole world could benefit by practicing Amish ways. Just think: less hate, more tolerance, more love and caring for others, everyone believing in God, and maybe even eliminate war. Simple times. Now, I know this is far-fetched because there are other religions, everyone is different, and there is just so much greed/money/power trips going on that some people do not want to change their lives. I was born in Ohio, (about 40 miles south of Toledo) and I remember on some country back road (I was visiting my hometown and looking for an old cemetery that was in that area) and I saw a buggy pulled over and the man was checking a wheel. The woman was sitting on the seat, patiently waiting. I thought it was the most charming thing I'd ever seen. I did not have a cell phone (this was mid to late '80s) but I did stop and asked the man if they needed some help. He said no that he was able to fix the wheel with what he had. But there was just such a calm about both of them that I found fascinating, and he told me that God would bless me for being so kind to them! Beautiful people, skilled, frugal, gentle and definitely Gods children!

We have some here who only use horse and buggy, others allow themselves to be driven, and some (often times women) drive themselves. I will never forget seeing two younger ones (I'm horrible at guessing ages but late teens?) buying neon thongs from Walmart.

I live around Amish and Mennonites and one family I know earns at least 1,000 up to and beyond 3,000 grand a day selling produce and baked goods. Also flowers and crafts. They own land worth between one million and up. They pay anywhere from 10,000 to 70,000 for a buggy horse. Amish are also a sect that broke away from Mennonites. And Amish will pay people to drive them to job's starting at $20.00 an hour. Don't be so quick to judge.

      Spend a year indepthly studying them and your eyes will open.
      But here's a hint ;
      They claim ;
      1-The mens hair cut & facial hair cut style is to keep them from vanity .
      Yet ;
      Its actually vanity in itself .
      Which happens to be a direct hypocrisy , completely against Gods word.
      2- If your duties are milking the goats & selling the goats milk ( as an example ) then the money goes to the high elder .
      The high elder returns to you an allowance for which you may spend at say McDonald's if you wish ( which is better known biblically as glutening , which is against Gods word ) .
      That money is then laundered through the Church because U.S. Tax laws have a Tax Shield for Churches , only the pastor/ preacher is liable for taxes based on what they pay themself /are paid .
      Yet they claim they pay taxes like everybody else , no they don't .
      If they did then they wouldn't continuously run around buying $250K farms as fast as they do , around 5 years on average is when they move around .
      They don't pay Taxes like Americans are held accountable for , period .
      3-They freely change their baseline rules at will .
      For example , they may not have flowers around their home as this is vanity .
      Yet they bypass biblical rule as long as its inline with business .( this one is on a UA-cam Amish tour ) .
      Again , hypocrisy of convenience .
      Another example is they're not to have computers unless its for business yet you'll find the Yoders on facebook & if you sit back and follow them , you'd see they curse worse than sailors .
      Sorry , the bible doesn't permit this at all.
      I can continue for a long time on ....
      But they're literally just as any other typical hypocritical Christian or Catholic that gets drunk all week and goes to confession on Sunday ( Which is well documented for not being the Sabbath ) and getting their hail Mary's of forgiveness .
      Yet , Americans are mystified by them and their way of life and portrayal of being the most religious of any Christians in America .
      Their grouping name is hailed by many .
      Their clothing is even chosen which has built their "Brand" and again , vanity ... Which is the marketing technique for all their products they sell .
      They are not any different from any American , not one bit .
      We use to think the world of them until we researched their rules & paid attention to what they are actually doing .
      The Mennonites are an interesting hypocrisy as well.
      There's a tour on UA-cam where the elder claims the Govt. Just randomly sent them those Covid Checks without them asking but that's not true .
      You had to either free form tax file , be an S.S.I. / S.S.recipient or be on welfare to qualify to receive ...then submit a bank account or request a pre-paid debit on the first one . Big half million dollar farm in ohio ...
      They're all Big Fat Liars .

      @@dannyandrose Wow!! That's wild. Yes you're right abt the Catholics as I was one for many years. They buy farms for that cost!?!? Darn. So sad they would think having flowers is vanity, huh?! God created sooooo many beautiful varieties, as the same with animals. All of nature is amazing. And they cuss like that?!? What's their belief about Jesus? Its not that they find the flowers to be of "Vanity" , its Gods d descriptors of "Vanity" . to have dandelions in your yard isnt the "Vanity" issue , Gods natural placements of wild foragers such as Gods little "Planters" , Squirrels which forget where they place their winter stash isn't a "Vanity" .
      However , when one creates designs in front of their home or business in the perfect sculpt is , because it goes against nature & once one goes against Gods Nature then the person is same as saying Gods work wasn't good enough , this can be instantly related in a direct metaphor of having a nose job or any other personal cosmetically chosen surgery . This is "Vanity" .
      Their bible beliefs are more so Old Testament except for pick & choose New Testament .
      But officially they fall under ; AnaBaptists or Closest to Protestant Christians .
      Essentially , they still just fall under another Christian Denomination which is why they're absolutely no different than any other Christian or Catholic , as all 4 are complete hypocrites , every last one .
      There's an Ex-Amish Professor ( actual Prof. , not a UA-cam Grad.) On UA-cam that covers in extreme detail their rules they're suppose to follow according to their religious beliefs .
      There's somewhere around 2-300k of them ( nobody knows exact numbers ) and we dealt with & learned from a small portion , around 50-100 of them in our area which hailed from Ohio , partly Yoders , partly Miller's & Swartzentroopers , all 100% hypocrites ....
      Ohh... And their "Rules" are based on the Bible ... They don't make them up , they just pick & choose ..

      @@dannyandrose There are a lot of sincere Christians in the world, as well as the ones who are hypocrites. And as far as the Amish, people want a relationship with Jesus, not a list of dos and donts. This could cause people to become hypocrites, having a desire to break free from all of that.
