The disorganized way you're talking about this movie makes it sound like a two-hour fever dream with a half-hour slice of life interlude.
I need to get around to watching all of Evangelion.
one thing i really liked about 4.0 was that kaworu also got a 25/26 style "interview" moment because that's not something he ever got. and how he literally gets to say that he's been trapped in a narrative loop where his entire purpose is dedicated towards someone else's growth and happiness and not his own, which uh, is sure is a powerful and affecting thing to say about relationships
I also really appreciated that. There are so many wonderful things in this, hard to remember to bring up them all!

I loved how in the Amazon dub the class presidents voice direction ripped me out of any scene she was in.
I genuinely thought it was funny.
Evangelion as known as something revolutionary for anime at the time and art form. However the biggest of "missing the point" is shoving the IP everywhere licenced lessening its value. Not to mention its a story of a man depressed being squeezed.
Aggro’s comment about the amount of porn Mari has compared to her screen time applies even more to Kaworu lol.. He had like 8 minutes of screen time in the original series and he has an ungodly amount of porn and influence

This movie was so weird for me.
Like, there was so much shit in here for me to deal with an understand what was going on as they talk about all this technobabble bullshit as they go into the 'negative universe'.
I liked the ending but have no idea how to feel about the middle part.
So scenes to me are so bizarre. Like, not the bullshit technobabble, but like, Shinji being okay with Rei dyeing again. And Mari being an actual character. Just... nutty.
