At minute forty-five you ask, "What are those metal decorations for?" Those help keep the brick face attached to the building instead of falling away from the building. Each of those "S" shapes is attached to a rod that runs under the sub-floor across to a similar "S" shape on the other side of the building. Imagine a long turnbuckle. Oftentimes the "S" is a diamond, square, circle, star, or other geometric shape. They help anchor the brickwork to the building. Love your stories. I was an EA and loved surveying so much I retired after fifty years of calling myself a surveyor.
Wow! Thank you for your service and congrats on the retirement. The info about the brick fasteners make sense now that you mention it. Thank you for the input. Have a great day!
I like the videos. I'm a former USAF Red Horse and Rapid Deployment Force asset. Maybe we'll cross paths "down the road sometime." We travel in a self built cargo trailer. The "Red Horse" decal will be on the exterior.
Ahh ... The Red Horse that's awesome! Thank you for your service & I'll keep an eye our for ya. Have a great day!
I have driven past so much history and not known a quarter of it!! Thanks for this video. Love your channel.
Hi, Thank you for the kind words and I'm glad you enjoy it. Have a great week!
Thanks, Randy,another Great video.👍
Hi there. You finally posted this video. We chatted a bit out side the hardware store. Enjoyed this video. "See you later". Mike
Hi Mike, Yeah.. it took a minute to get it out. Thanks for the information you gave me, it helped. "See ya Later"
I still hand draw my concept cartoons and construction drawings to print. I find it very satisfying.
The red in the bricks is from Iron Oxide. Fired bricks can last for centuries. Man has been firing bricks since an estimated 6,000-BC. The Roman Legions even traveled with portable kilns to produce fired brick for their constructs.
Quite a tour of Florence...👍👍
I started my drafting career doing the blueprints by hand for houses. That was before CAD was as good as it is now. Thanks for sharing!
We’re contemplating moving to Arizona and doing research found you guys and we both enjoy your videos. Thank you 👍
I would recommend moving here during the winter. That way you can slowly acclimate to the summer🤣. (depending on where you move to) Thanks for sharing.
Beautiful, this town is definitely on my bucket list..... I love historic towns ❤
I cannot believe this town isn't touristy like Tombstone
The shop owners were so helpful and glad to share the stories. I enjoyed it.
You mentioned the canvas bag and it reminded me of my father taking a canvas bag that had a small leak. He tied the bag to the front grill of our 1954 Ford sedan to help keep the radiator cool. We chugged along the desert highway on our way to Colorado one summer passing other cars who broke down along the way. Thank you for the video. I had fun going along with the tour of the court house :D
Thank you for sharing the cool story. The museum was a neat place to visit, I'm glad you liked it. Have a great day!
I still have a new canvas bag from my first daytime trip through the desert. I bought it thinking I should have one just in case...I was getting things ready to go and realized I was driving a 1974 VW412 station wagon with no radiator.
That's awesome Randy!
Thanks It was a pleasure to meet you. Have a great day!
Nice video. I appreciate you sharing with us.
Thank you bakerwannabe, It's my pleasure, Have a good day!
You have to go inside the courthouse and see the staircase. It’s absolutely beautiful. My husband and I took our anniversary pictures on the staircase and they came out so amazing!

I had to go to court with my friend in Florence and on the way into town I saw an old building that had Masonic sigil at the top
Hi Bonnie, I saw that too. Lots of interest places in such a little town. Have a great week!
Lived in Florence in 83.....Mr essagary was my teacher 8th grade
Hi Desertvanlife, I never realized how much history was there until I spent the time to check it out. Thanks for sharing and have a great day!
We have community gardens in Tucson
The trees on the side of the church were Olive, possibly grafted with a non-flowering , non-fruiting variety - which would explain the large irregular growth on mud trunk.
Hi Cindy, Thank you for the explanation. They have an interesting look. Have a great week!
Just found your channel. Binging on Az. Great stuff. Ever visit Pearce Az?
Hi brnsky, I haven't yet, I still need to get to that part of the state. Thanks for the recommendation and have a great week!

The Stations of the Cross depict 14 events in the Passion of Jesus Christ, beginning with Jesus being condemned to death and ending with His body being laid in a tomb. The pious practice of praying the Stations of the Cross originated in medieval Europe when pilgrims were unable to visit the Holy Land, so instead “visited” these Holy places through prayer.
Thank you for that information. I will remember that for my next adventure. Have a great day!
My son in law was a CO at a couple of the prisons there. I've visited several times. I remember a good Mexican restaurant down town. Not a bad place to live... too hot for an Oregonian tho.
Cheers.
Thanks for sharing. The Oregon coast is a beautiful drive. Have a great day!
Those were cylinders which you called records the first recording device before record! Made of clay and extremely fragile much like the first record.
Thank you for the clarification on the cylinders. I wasn't sure what they were called. Have a good day!
You should drive by Nathan Huffhinds place.
Hi, I will definitely do that. Thanks for sharing and have a great week!
@@SeabeeTraveler I was just kidding! I’m from az and every time I hear Florence Arizona I think of raising Arizona and Nathan Arizona/Huffhinds. “Would you buy furniture from a store named Unpainted Huffhinds”?
@@Ashphinchtersayswhat 🤣Good one, You got me!🤣 Now I have to rewatch Raising Arizona. See ya on the next one.
@@SeabeeTraveler love your content!
STations of the Cross. Look it up.

They are the 12 stations of the cross. The prayer path of Christ’s path to the crucifixion on Calvary.
And his resurrection!
Those are stations of the cross. Depicting when Jesus was crucified, died, buried and resurrected.
Thank you so much for the information. I will remember that on my next adventure. Have a great day!
Yes. Stations of the cross. I believe those are olive trees.
Coming here to say they're "Stations on the Cross" 🫶🏼
