- 2003 Bmw E46 Air con Cooling Fan Fault Fixed.
A broken wire on the air con cooling fan control unit stopping the air con system from working but allowing the cooling fan to work flat out when vehicle sat in traffic for a prolonged amount of time.
Beautiful video.
Straight to the point with just the right amount of humour.
Informative, and easy to follow
Much appreciated!
Only channel that addressed the issues immediately. No BS. Thank you.
Good to watch videos from people who actually know how to fix stuff. Felictaciones
Really do enjoy watching your videos you got such a good sense of humor please do more videos
I am surprised, i went and did the same on my e46 2003, to my surprise the + connector had corroded, cleaned it and soldered a new cable and it did work, my ac is finally working!
Thanks Alan.
I'm definitely going to check this out. My wife's car is having the same issue. I definitely hope I don't have to replace the whole fan unit. They're almost $500!
Thanks for sharing!
$140 on Amazon
Thank god you saved me from buying a new unit for 130 euros! Such a easy fix!
Thanks for your video! I have the same model, from the same year, except in the USA. I think I might have the same problem. Cheers!
Good luck!
Great video. BMW 120D engine M47 - problem sorted
Excellent troubleshooting skills I like the way you explained thanks for showing me this I'm going to take mine off and check it
Great job im looking into this by the weekend my a/c stop working my fan dosent go into high speed when i turn the a/c on will this keep the a/c from working
Good shot mate, well done 👍
Luckily my ac still works when moving but I noticed it doesn't when I am stationary and of course the fan is not spinning. Guess I'll be taking my bumper off this weekend
As always great job mate! Speaking about Mondeos. Maybe you can show how to fix famous purple wire from the fan to ECU in Mk4? My AC stopped working suddenly and have this code „fan failure”. This wire is fanous to just desintegrate in time and loose connection and in result not giving compressor a signal to do the bloody job!
not come across that problem on a mondeo..if i find anything out will let you know
Just the thing i was looking for :)
My auc fan comes on soon as i start the car and it loud during the whole ride until i turn the car off and ac won’t blow cold when it’s on. Bt no sign of overheating any suggestions?
2005 BMW 330i E46 runs hot on idle only .. AC on .. electric fan comes on full speed only .. i changed fan coolant switch (Temp switch) no change .. disconnected the AUC (no change) .. changed fan clutch (no change) .. the electric fan works full speed only .. inside temp gauge goes to 3/4 way up.. if you rev engine to 2000 RPM .. car cools back down and AC comes back cold .. no white cloud out the tail pipe.. no milky oil... can the electric fan running be running too fast ? there are no leaks.. pressure tested good.. please advise.
Why cant we have engineers like these where I live...?
got same issues e39, thanks, update later
Hi Allan, I have the same issue, I tried (without removing the fan) supplying 12v to the brown and blue wires, the fan spins. Do you know what that thin black wire is for?
The Aux fan should start running immediately after turning on AC?
yes within a few seconds of switching the ac on
@@alan4x many thanks
Good work
Thanks for the video was really helpful
What if my fan is always on even if the art is off?
Wow I have the same model , same rims , same color . But mine is a 2004 with 324,000 miles . And its time to replace the aux fan !
Hi. My aircon blows hot air but no cold, i got the gas topped up a little bit & still no cold air. My radiator fan sometimes stays on even when the car is turned off and doesn't go off unless i disconnect the wiring. Do you know what is wrong?.
Alan what about if my 04 bmw 325i overheats but it’s does throw out cold air
That's the next thing to check on my E90. Air con charge pipe is now getting cold after changing the fan relay but still can't get the fan to work
good fix
Will it cause the car to overheat if it isn't working
no the air con fan is separate to the cooling fan
Great! GREAT VIDEO! i have a 320i automatic 2010 and the fan dont start im dismounting is very simple😝
Great tip
If i have kinda same issue could fan work something and not working other time, i mean it start sometimes but sometime not and temperature goes up
Good video dude
how about this . on my E53 the A/C doesnt kicks in when i start the car and it only kicks in when my temp reach the middle.temperature and when you stop the engine and start it after 15 minutes it wont kick on again and then i have to rev it from 2nd upt to third gear and t will kick in again..what part do i need to check. pls advise. And
Thanks Bruce willys
cheers lol
thank you my friend, i want to keep that fan running all the time in high speed when ac running is that possible?
If your ac is running, your fan should automatically turn on
What if the fan doesn't shutoff even with the key out?
Mate is that issue the same on the e46 320d?
N.P.DETAILING no
Yes same issue, fixed my one.
Sorted 👍
Will someone PLEASE show which direction the fan is supposed to turn when standing facing it! Does it push air through or pull air out?
It blows towards the engine.
if it is on the front of the radiator then it's a push fan.. it pushes in.. if it is on the engine side of the radiator, then it's a pull fan.. it pulls air towards engine
good luck taking off the metal cover without damaging it...
I loved this video hahaha thanks for making the shitty repair I'm about to have to do on my 02 330ci tomorrow seem like it's going to be more fun than it really is 😂😂
lmao😜
Strange.. in the US here the fans (at least on e46/36)usually seize.. lol
I have a 1999 bmw 328i... saloon I can take out my fan assembly without removing the bumper.
2 fousand and free, BMW free 2 5 , e46
You talk soo much that we don't understand
