Nice👍… somewhere near the top of the spiral. There used to be an over hang called the “mantelpiece”…. I don’t know much more except the old man saying the you looked straight out the drivers window.. down in the a river way below.be great to find out
The DA is looking nice and clean. Always amazes me how a video like this shows the changes in track geometry as the two units move independently of each other. Of course a lot of that is the suspension reacting to the track changes but even so, it's hard to look at what is seemingly a straight (or curved) piece of track that appears to be free of dips and rises and can yet create this level of movement.
I think part of the illusion is caused by the camera being fixed to the Da. When she moves, the camera moves with the Da. When the Dc moves, it is different to the Da. I notice this when you in a carriage, looking at the carriage in front of you. The same illusion appears.
Thanks for the comment, this was a special heritage passenger excursion for our 1957 locomotive and 1930's carriages. The usual locomotives on this section are electric.
@@trainfixer1981 Thanks very much. I don't know the railways there because I live in Germany. Here we deal in detail with the Gotthard railway in Switzerland. I think it is a great pity that a diesel locomotive is running on the electrified line. a hybrid locomotive like the EuroDual from Stadler Rail could run the part with overhead line electrically and the rest diesel-electrically. the video itself is beautiful and I like it
Brilliant, one of the great engineering feats in NZ if not the world 🙂

Love this train journey ,one of the most scenic trips NZ has to offer & vintage engines as well 😀😀❤❤❤
Great Video, love the POV
Glad you enjoyed

Hi peter amazing shots , are there dash cams on freight trains or is it your personal dashcam
I wonder if these two ran together as DA class locomotives
Nice vid. Was the DA running as I can only hear the DC..
Paul Warner Da was offline.
Why do you drive a diesel locomotive under the overhead line? That's completely absurd.
