- For our latest Tech Tip, Tyler Hooks shows you how to swap foam inserts in your tires. With some tires, the rubber lasts longer than the insert or there may be times when you need a firmer insert as the grip comes up. Cutting open your tires and swapping out the foam inserts is a lot easier than you think.

And for all that still doubt glueing tires together works, BITD when there was no 4wd front front tire version of a rear tire we would make our own. Cutting down a rear tire to fit the front and glueing it back together actually worked extremely well. It was surprising the first time I did it running 4whl mod with essentially a 2 or 3 piece tire, they held up just fine, never had an issue. Great tip!
brian kinwald did make his own tyres that way and also started to turn normal tyres inside out to get slicks that looked somewhat like chainlink tyres today.
Having trouble understanding how not doing this is a waste of a set of tires. Do you reverse the process if the next track sucks? I almost always have a few sets, for such occasions. If you’re cutting open tires to swap foams out, you’re probably in for a new set anyway.
Great tip,. Thank you 🏁🏁🏁🏁
