  • Machine Learning is an extremely popular field in tech right now. The demand for professionals within machine learning & AI has skyrocketed in the past 5 years. To meet this new demand, a lot of universities are offering graduate programs in machine learning. I address the advantages and disadvantages of getting a Master's in Machine Learning in this video.

You mentioned a lot of CS master's degrees. Do employers care if you took a master's in CS with an A.I. track vs Info Systems with an A.I. track? Great video and thanks in advance!

Glad About The 3rd Disadvantage... haha.. As You've Already Mention That in Your early Vids, Its About Doing Something All New By Ourselves But Not About having Dozens Of Certificates...
    Quality > Quantity...

this is the second semester since my uni has released its masters in AI/ML - there are a lot of things to be improved upon, but at least it gives me structure and connects me with many of my peers who usually come from all walks of life/different fields. i think thats pretty cool and will help with networking when we graduate

"the premium price" point is so valid. ML masters degrees are currently 30-50K, compared to traditional CS masters of about 10-20K USD.

I was invited to enroll in the first "Post Graduate Program in AI & ML at the University of Texas McCombs School of Business" which would have given me a certificate upon successful completion / graduation of their 11-module, 6 month program. I had a nice discussion with the program director, and even though I never formally applied, he seemingly offered me placement in the program if I could get the payment of $3500 in on time. And I would have IF they would have taken my veterans' benefits because I did find the program interesting and we did discuss my particular interest in applying AI & ML to automating and more quickly responding to security incidents / detecting and finding IOCs on networks. But this was a cash only transaction and that told me more than I needed to know about their priorities, sadly. I am still interested in legitimate post-grad ML work.

I am working on qualifying for a MS in machine learning and the single largest advantage for a person without a bachelors in related field is machine learning takes less undergraduate credits to qualify.
Data science pretty much requires all undergraduate math + extensive programming experiences or credits.
Machine learning requires all 200 level math and ECE sequences I am currently taking at a local community college and a handful of 300 level classes.
MS level is always 45 credits, cost differences are negligible in the same university.
It may be specific to the university I will be applying for, bit machine learning is a great choice for someone without math or engineering background but wanting a master’s degree in the field.
As long as a person is able to take on math and electrical engineering, it takes less time and money to get that degree in this path.

I always thought of these advantages when considering a Masters in Machine learning/ MS in Computer Science (with AI as specialization). I have had this regret of not having a Masters for a long time now. But as someone who's already in his 30s, going for a formal degree is not really practical. I plan to study ML on my own, and I hope that companies change their criterion about recruitment when it comes to ML/AI roles. A CS degree is no longer required to get a software engineering role at top companies, and I hope the same happens with ML too.

@@silentlessons4221 Well age is also a factor. It would feel a bit wierd in the university, being on average 10 years older to your classmates lol.
Also, when you start earning a good amount of money, it's really hard to pause that for two years and then start at a lower (or equal pay). The opportunity cost is much higher than what it was in my early 20s.

Within business is the Chief Information Officer. Under him/her is the network administrators, computer sciences, and programmers. Project managers are usually Mgt Info Sys (MIS). With the transition to the 4th Industrial Revolution, business is adding Machine Learning, Data Sci, and Artificial Intel to the automated information teams.
