Aww bubs is so so beautiful!! This season is totally one for you to navigate through and what works for you. I have 3 kids, 2 of them are twin girls. My first born son, I used to cuddle and wait until he fell asleep before I put him in his crib. Big mistake because as he grew older he could never be put down unless he was asleep already, and would wake up more frequently.. became difficult. Especially as he grew older and became more familiar with his surroundings. For my twins, when I could see they were getting tired, I would swaddle them and put them in their crib when they were awake. They learned that swaddling and being put in crib was a safe place for them to fall asleep. As they grew older, when they woke up in their crib, they knew where they were and was easier for them to go back to sleep. Sometimes if they were unsettled, I used to pay them gently on their bottom or back, but they would always be in their crib. Sleeping became much much easier second time around. A really good book I had was called ‘save our sleep’ it’s worth a read to see if it works for you?
Cara she is so beautiful shes like a tiny doll I miss my girls being little it went by so fast Cara ! You have the sweetest family and you are an amazing mama the happiness just has begun ! Oh..I love your sweater the color...💜 you take care sweetie lv u beautiful one...💞👶
My little one is 4 weeks old and I’m right there with you on the pumping! It’s SO MUCH WORK! I pumped and bottle fed with my first and I don’t remember it being this much work but it’s so worth it. Keep up the good work! You’re doing awesome!
My Dad and his twin sister were born in 1033 and they each weighed 1 lb. in December. The Dr. told my grandma to take the babies home and be prepared to have a funeral in a few days. She put both babies in my grandfathers shoe box in a dresser drawer ( open of course) by the heater and they both lived. My dad was 5'7" and was thin he was a strong man and had no issues
Cara I can't believe she is 2 months old already. Quinn is so adorable can and her outfit is the cutest. My oldest daughter was born at 37 weeks and was only 5 pounds 10 ounces. She was in preemie clothes for almost 2 months. It's hard to believe my little preemie girl will be 20 years old in September. They grow up so fast. Love your family and channel ❤️
Momma!!!! Pumping is still breastfeeding your baby. Do not discredit yourself. All that hard work from pumping is still breastfeeding!! No matter how you feed her, you're doing awesome!!
Omg Cara! I’m so honored to make your list 😭❤️. You are so so sweet. Thank you so much! I’m so sorry you got mastitis...ugh I’ve heard it’s so awful! So glad you’re okay now! You are such a rockstar Mama! Ellia always loved having her hair washed too...soooo cute! Loved hearing Quinn’s update! She is the cutest peanut ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you for documenting this journey. I will be having a planned premie due to my brain condition. My tumor has grown during pregnancy and they believe it is best for both me and baby for her to be out sooner. I don't know how soon, but this series is really helping me learn about the journey of the experience rather than just being a rundown of the basics. I am a researcher/planner, so these videos are so therapeutic.
I had my baby 7 weeks early to! She was born February 6! I had severe pre eclampsia to not as bad as yours though!! Super proud of you for pumping that’s what I’m doing to and it’s a lot of work! Congratulations she’s beautiful!!
I’m so happy that Quinn is doing so well!!! Please don’t get crazy with breastfeeding because you have to do what is convenient for you and your baby. I breastfed all 3 of my , now grown, babies. I love how your baby is thriving so well!! She is so cute and petite!💕
Thank you so much! And yes, there’s definitely so much that goes along with breastfeeding that I never knew about before! I know it’ll be worth it all thiugh
I'm three weeks away from my due date and bouncing on my birth ball right now. I really enjoy watching your videos while I do my daily pregnancy exercises. Thanks for sharing:)
She is so adorable and coming along so well... congrats! You are such an amazing mom to her! I am so happy that she is in your life & how perfect she is. Take care and stay well!
Hello Cara, Eric and Princess Quinn, and ACE! TY for sharing your stories and journeys with us all! With all that is going on right now in our world, it is so refreshing to watch your vlogs!
Hey Cara. I love watching videos of other NICU Moms to see what their experience was. I had my baby in week 33 also. I had gestational diabetes and pre term contractions. I totally get the feeding issues. Feeding a NICU baby is super hard. Our hospital had me mix the breast milk with the higher calorie formula. I guess they don't all do it the same. To be honest, there’s a chance I might’ve had that option and not realized it… Since she ended up going home earlier than we thought she would we were taking care of a lot of business the last few days including choosing how she would take her formula. We chose this option because it sounded like the best for us, but maybe that had been one of the other ones and I didn’t realize it!
An awesome UA-camr to watch is the osbournes her first name is Erika and her baby is 9 months old now but she knows so so much on sleep training and she's so informative you'd really like her, if you're not all ready watching her, Quinn is so precious Cara!!! Good to hear you're healing well, the numbness will be there for a while, it's a weird feeling, I had my daughter c-section, I know exactly what your feeling. Hopefully grandparents will be able to snuggle with baby girl soon, that's gotta be such a horrible feeling, take care and stay safe
Such a Fun Vlog today Cara...Quinn Is growing so fast.... I bet Eric cant wait to get home everynight to see you both... Continued hugs & Blessings of Comfort, Good Health & Protection against this Coronavirus 🙏❤💙💖🐕🤗✝️
QUINN IS SOOOO PRECIOUS! You are sooooo pretty! I CANNOT BELIEVE HOW FAST YOUR CHANNEL IS GROWING! I remember when you had 5k..... now you have 20k!!!!! SO PROUD! 💖🌟😊🤪😁
I had the same experience with breastfeeding/pumping. Baby needed tube feeding then took to a bottle, with the vitamins and making too much milk I tried to breastfeed but I would still have to pump after and it was a never ending cycle. You are not alone & do what’s best for you momma! I ended up exclusively pumping until she was one and she’s a perfectly happy healthy girl so I’m sure yours will be too.💗
I think skip hop has a changing table that also weighs your baby while you change her. In case you want something easier to see right away while you change her.
I’ve just found your channel! Your baby is so beautiful! I’m expecting a baby girl on the 6th of September! Whether she will come then or earlier will be a different story! But seeing how tiny she is! It’s just amazing! Your videos are really helpful! Thankyou for sharing your journey! Especially for us first time moms🤰🏻❤️
Hi Cara! Loved the update! So many similarities with Quinn and my little Leo. So happy to hear she is developing so well and growing! So excited to watch your family's journey. And oh my goodness, once again more similarities. I also am a nanny. Currently not working due to COVID-19, but it is absolutely the best job ever. So rewarding to watch and aid in the growing and developing of children. Wishing you well! 😊❤ -Clarissa
Omg I didn't know you nannied, I was nannying too but I ended up leaving them mid march around the time the virus thing came along. I nannied twins boy and a girl and their 9 year old sister. I miss them too but I still FaceTime with them here and there. 💕
Just an idea, you could always nurse, and pump at the same time? So you could still nurse her at the same time and get the bond. (: then you’re still pumping for storage and future feedings.
I've been watching your videos for a while, I had a spontaneous PROM also at 33 weeks so I've enjoyed following someone going through the exact same thing! But this was my second C-Section, and for the pain you experience when you laugh or cough or anything, take a pillow and push it down, lightly of course lol, over the incision and it really helps!
Oh wow! Hope you and your baby are well now! They kept telling me to do that with the pillow in the hospital and I was still so scared! I finally did it and it helped!
@@CaraJane My first c section, I was terrified of anything even getting near the incision, itll get better! Also, do you still wake your daughter up every three hours to feed? I've been trying to find information on when we can let our premies sleep longer at night because it is slowly killing me lol We're waiting on a neonatologist to call us to make an appointment, but until then, we're dead
The past few nights I’ve just been letting her wake us up because she pretty much wakes up every 3 to 4 hours overnight on her own. That way, I know she’s hungry and I don’t waste milk because she wasn’t hungry enough right at three hours. Hope that made sense! Yeah I bet you’re exhausted!
@@CaraJane I've been doing that too but more so on accident, the NICU said to wake her every three hours until the doctor says otherwise but half the time I'm so tired I keep snoozing my alarm. But then she wakes up on her own hungry anyway so🤷🏻♀️ Does your daughter have to see a neonatologist too? I'm assuming they're the ones who will give us the green light officially to let her sleep
Ohhh! No, she doesn’t have to see a neonatologist but she will have a check up with the physical therapist from the NICU in a few weeks just to make sure everything’s still on track with her muscles etc. Her pediatrician said it’s fine for her to wake up on her own overnight as long as she’s still getting the same amount of milk throughout the day👍🏻
That’s great that you have started a little bit of a bedtime routine already with Quinn. (You mentioned reading a book to her before you put her in bed.) Bedtime will always be a special time if she gets a story from Mommy or Daddy.
Quinn is so precious and her name is just so perfect 🥰 you're amazing, have a newborn baby and keeping up with youtube!! 🤪💖 wishing you all the best as she gets older 😍❤️
Hi Cara your glowing when you talk about Quinn your doing great mama ,Ace is adorable with Quinn he's definitely a good big brother 💕 Quinn is just perfect she looks like a little doll 😍
Hi Cara. You are a great mother and baby girl is just cuteness overload. And Ace is a great big brother. He is abig softie. You and hubby are doing a great job. Keep doing what you are doing because it is obviously working. Love from South Africa
It's the retina (light processing cells) in the back of the eye, that is usually underdeveloped in prematurity and can get damaged, not the iris.. Quinn is such a doll, and I love her name.
So happy to see that you guy's are staying safe and healthy and she is so beautiful and healthy and God bless you all and stay safe and healthy. Love you guy's, Matthew Carrubba from Oklahoma
Aw I love watching little Quinn grow! My sister was premature and so tiny like that, but around four months she got really chubby and was all cheeks haha.Im sure that will happen to Quinn soon!
A helpful tip: (I hope at least lol) when you start sleep training her and she starts to soothe herself to sleep it helps to lay her down when she’s almost asleep but not already asleep! Then she’s still used to snuggles before bed but she’s still a little awake and she learns to self soothe.
I was wondering about the mysterious other job, lol. I would love a vlog on how you grocery shop/ meal plan (when you have the time, of course!) Serena (Louisiana)
Haha I finally remembered to talk about it! And I’ve had the meal plan video on my list for so long but Eric’s been doing all the shopping the last couple months. As soon as I start going again I’m gonna do the video!😊👌🏼
She is beautiful! And so happy for you both and Ace. I have a question for you did she have any problems with her hearing test? My son was born 33 weeks early and he is now 35 weeks and he failed his first hearing test just a little worried. Want to see if you experienced this
Hi! I’m a new subscriber and have been loving your videos! I have a 16 month old daughter and I had my second daughter on April 1st. I have totally been loving watching new mom vlogs! One thought if she’s sleeping in a pack n’ play, you might want to look into a pack n’ play mattress. We are using one for my newborn and she has been sleeping great and seems very comfortable.
A day in the life as an exclusive pumper video would be sweet !!, also if your not already apart of a fb group for exclusively pumping I seriously suggest it 💕
I'm curious to what kind of pump your using?, and if you have a pumping bra ?. . I know these videos are a little backed up , but theres plenty of things that can make pumping soooo much easier
I’m using the Medela freestyle! And no, I don’t have a pumping bra but I have looked into them a couple times because I feel like it would make life so much easier! I just haven’t found any that look like what I would want. Do you have a recommendation?
Really? I had looked into that one but couldn’t find very many reviews on it for some reason so I didn’t want to spend the money. I’ll have to check it out again!
Yes! She didn't seem to have any issues with it other than the very first time she had it! Do you sit them up for awhile after feedings? I did that with Quinn and felt like it made a huge difference. I would set her up in her swing for at least 20 minutest after her feedings and she rarely spit up. Maybe it had nothing to do with that but it's worth a try! :)
She’s beautiful! You two are doing a wonderful job! Question, do you have Quinn sleep in the raised bassinet portion of the pack and play? Does she like it now? I’m 7 months pregnant and trying to decide between a pack and play and regular bassinet while baby is in our room. Not sure what to do!
And with that in mind since you mentioned video ideas....maybe baby products you love/work well with Quinn so far :) trying to make my baby registries and there are just so many options out there!!
Thank you, chloe! And congratulations!! Yes, she sleeps in the raised portion and it works perfectly! You can order a mattress to go in it too! We spent hours researching bassinets and trying to decide on one and finally just decided to use the pack and play... It’s obviously not as cute as a bassinet but works exactly the same in my opinion! (Other than taking up a little more room)
Yes I have that on my list!! I got sooo overwhelmed researching what to put on my registry so I want to make a video and just talk about the basic things… It seems like every video had so many things that you don’t necessarily have to have!
I just came across this video since I will be having a preemie. Baby is having complications and will most likely be born around 29-32 weeks... I’m 27 weeks so I’m freaking out. I was wondering if it would be ok if I linked my baby registry?
@@CaraJane but anything between 25-30 lb is normal to gain, I remember you mentioning that your pregnancy complications were because you gained a significant amount of weight during pregnancy. Did your doctor tell you this? I'm overweight and worried that weight gain will cause even more problems for me.
Hi guys!! Sorry for all the background noise...I didn't realize how loud it was until I was editing! ;)
No worries
Didn't even notice!
It does not matter ♥️♥️

Awww haha I think she’s definitely starting to get her chubby cheeks now!😊😊
A helpful tip: (I hope at least lol) when you start sleep training her and she starts to soothe herself to sleep it helps to lay her down when she’s almost asleep but not already asleep! Then she’s still used to snuggles before bed but she’s still a little awake and she learns to self soothe.
That is super helpful and totally makes sense! I’m going to try that now… Thank you!
So cute 🥰
I was wondering about the mysterious other job, lol. I would love a vlog on how you grocery shop/ meal plan (when you have the time, of course!)
Serena (Louisiana)
Haha I finally remembered to talk about it! And I’ve had the meal plan video on my list for so long but Eric’s been doing all the shopping the last couple months. As soon as I start going again I’m gonna do the video!😊👌🏼
You are So Beautiful with baby,... oh wow she looks so adorable
She is beautiful! And so happy for you both and Ace. I have a question for you did she have any problems with her hearing test? My son was born 33 weeks early and he is now 35 weeks and he failed his first hearing test just a little worried. Want to see if you experienced this
Thank you so much! No, she didn’t have any problems with that... I hope everything is okay and that he’ll pass the next one!❤️
would love to see a nursery organization video!
I'll put that on my list! ;)
Quinn is so adorable and cute
Hi Cara, Quinn is so adorable. How long was Quinn at birth? Your a great mom.God Bless.
How much did she weigh and how long was she when she was born versus now? It’s so hard to tell how big she is in the videos!
Aww congratulations!! Eric and I just ordered a mattress for it a few days ago actually! Can’t wait to start using it! :)
Have a great weekend!! 💞
How many weeks has she been born so cute and love her she is so tiny and adorable hope you and family are all well
9 weeks old today :)
A day in the life as an exclusive pumper video would be sweet !!, also if your not already apart of a fb group for exclusively pumping I seriously suggest it 💕
Oh I’ll definitely put that on my list! And no I’m not... I’ll have to look into that! Thank you! :)
I actually use the madela pumping bra. I actually love it !
Really? I had looked into that one but couldn’t find very many reviews on it for some reason so I didn’t want to spend the money. I’ll have to check it out again!
She is such a peach!!! 😍 love her name 😉
There’s nothing wrong with pumping and giving it to the baby and sometimes medication can get that way it’s safe for her and you
Yeah, newborns are adorables, but preemies are just way too special! 🥺
Random question unrelated, but where did you get your amazing sweater? She is just so adorable😍
My mom actually got it for me...she found it at the meijer grocery store lol :)
Does she tolerate the vitamins and formula well? My NICU baby is struggling with feedings and spits up often
@@CaraJane thank you for the tip!! 😊
She is so cute! Just curious, how old are you?
I enjoyed this video
Girl YOU ARE BREASTFEEDING!! Pumping is considered breastfeeding ❤️
Cara Jane that would be great! :)
amazing video!!
I just came across this video since I will be having a preemie. Baby is having complications and will most likely be born around 29-32 weeks... I’m 27 weeks so I’m freaking out. I was wondering if it would be ok if I linked my baby registry?
Yes of course!! I hope everything goes okay for you!
@@CaraJane thank you so much ❤️
Just found your channel ♥️♥️♥️
She is so cute! How much does she weigh now?
She’s currently 6 lbs 8 oz! :)
She is getting so old I feel like it was just two days ago that she was born!!
Hope your doing well! Xx
Thanks Isla!! Same to you! :)
how much weight did you gain during pregnancy?
I think I was at 28 lbs :)
@@CaraJane but anything between 25-30 lb is normal to gain, I remember you mentioning that your pregnancy complications were because you gained a significant amount of weight during pregnancy. Did your doctor tell you this? I'm overweight and worried that weight gain will cause even more problems for me.
I was wondering what’s Quinn’s middle name! Sorry if you said it before!
Haha you’re fine! It’s Marie!! :)
Mama you ARE breastfeeding! Exclusively pumping is hard! I e.p for my 5 month old
How much her birth weight was (sorry to ask)I'm 33 weeks pregnant and admitted to the hospital I'm gd and might have premature birth
She was 3 pounds, 0 ounces at birth! :) hope everything goes well for you!
@@CaraJane thanks I'm ok now they discharged me praying for not having pre term birth
How many days was she actually in the NICU???
Niceeee
