I have the same Tekna Prolite kit in your video. Awesome gun, one thing you didn't mention is that the TE10 air cap allows you to use a smaller compressor like a 20 gallon home unit. I prefer the TE20 with a big compressor but for small garage jobs the TE10 is great.
Easy way to demonstrate it is to put the different air caps on and hold down the trigger and watch your pressure drop. With the TE20 the pressure drops after a few seconds. With the TE10 I can get 20 secs., or so before I get a pressure drop at 25psi so for small panels it is very useful.
I use a Tekna prolite 1.3 te-10 @ 30psi for sealer and solvent base coat fluid 2.5 - 3 turns out, full fan. For clear I have a dedicated prolite 1.3 te-20 @ 35 psi, fluid 4 turns out, full fan. Sealer, base coat, and clear all spray out beautifully.
I have this spray gun as well. I have tried the te-20 cap and 1.3 fluid tip for basecoats at about 15 to 18 psi and loved it. I have tried recently the te-20 cap and 1.3 fluid tip @ 35psi for clear and it layed it absolutely beautiful 👌 but now I'm curious about trying the te-10 cap that I have as well. Will probably try it tomorrow lol.
Hey Brother I’m using the GTI Prolite which is the exact same as the Tekna. I paint motorcycles and really like laying down glass.I started with the TE20 and was getting a little orange peal but was told to switch to the T110 and what a difference between the two..so for those looking to have that glass finish I’d say the T110 and if you’re looking to replicate the factory orange peal I’d go with the TE20... these air caps are available through spray guns direct under the parts section on the gun description menu.......Thanks for your videos and keep up the great work!!
Roy, I'm just starting to paint motorcycles and recently acquired a GTI Prolite with the T110 air cap. I'm spraying in my 2 car home garage. What are your gun settings? How many turns of the fan and fluid?
Friend, I have a Tekna pro Lite that is new in the package with Te20 1.3, my compressor is a small 30 gallon with 3.7 hp and I have added a 25 gallon auxiliary tank, it will be possible for it to work well. I also want to opt for the T110, if I buy one on eBay for GTI pro Lite, it will be compatible with my Tekna pro Lite, thank you. Good site, I have clarified many doubts that more elite channels do not answer. Keep supporting us.
It is actually the other way arround smaller holes on the TE10 make bigger droplets wetter coating TE20 bigger holes = smaller droplets and the HV30 hvlp cap has the biggest holes and makes smallest droplets and least wet coating, this is from Devilbiss air cap selection guide.
I spray cabinets with a very high solids material with the pro lite 1.4, it is an amazing all around gun. Primer, topcoat, high solids clear, all with a 1.4, fluid wide open 27ish psi. The material I spray is so thick it kind of slows the gun down but I can lay it on perfect every time and get one coat coverage. Wouldn’t use any other gun 👍
This the absolute BEST explanation of what caps and tips get what results. THANK YOU for keeping it simple!! Also, I bought the Pro-lite after watching the Gunman who we all know loves it and gets flawless results. High value video my friend!! God's blessed you and may he continue to.

I spray peterbilts and kenworths. I do all custom work and a lot of single stage work. the tekna prolight is the absolute best for fleet work. i use a 1.4 with the te10 and it lays down PPG delfleets evolution base and clear so nice. if there is any fleet painters reading this....put down the sata and iwata. devilbiss is king in the fleet world
Havent used the basecoat gun but i use the tekna copper body 7e7 1.3, tekna prolite te10 1.3 and tekna clearcoat te25 1.3 and i use the 3m accuspray for primers and odd ball stuff
been a sata die hard fan for last 5years. Decided to give devilbiss a shot so i bought a prolite. Didnt convince me iv'e tried all kinds of set-ups with it and sprayed everything from primer to clearcoat. Still disapointed in prolite. fellow painters of mine have similar reviews and not happy with the pro lite. They say that Tekna copper is there preference. Recently bought a Tekna basecoat, man so happy with that gun. Its my go to gun now. I dont use my sata 5000 anymore because the tekna basecoat is less hassle! and cheaper!
+David Ocampo haha! Prolite is a fast really up close gun to spray with. The tekna basecoat surprised me as well!!! Awesome gun! Thanks for the comment!
I love my Tekna Prolite. I have all 3 nozzles and all 3 caps. Mine is strictly for envirobase ppg. I have the best luck with TE10 and 1.2 nozzle spraying around 22 psi. The other 2 caps seem like they need a ton of air to run them in my opinion.
I'll be buying this gun soon for college, I'm in classic car restoration. I'm going to try to use it from sealer-clear with it as well to see how it goes haha
Me apaixonei pela prolite. É top demais! Abraços!
Hello painter I use two gti pro for base coat i use 1.3 and air cap H1at 2.0bar while for clear coat i use 1.3 and air cap TE20 at 2.5bar and we have excellent results.Best Gun for low money

I have moved away from the HVLP because you have to get too close for my method of painting, great videos keep them comming. jason from the UK
Im a one man show, mainly with full restoration jobs and I use the Prolite 1.3 with TE10 for base and clear coat. Im still trying to dial it in for the clear. I sprayed a medium temp multipanel clear at 74 degrees and @25 psi with the 1.3 TE10. First coat seemed a little dry. I backed the pressure down to 24 and slowed down and final result was good but had a little ripple effect. It will wet sand and rub smooth but need to dial it all in better. Have you sprayed the Tekna Copper Clear gun?
Just ran across your channel, good stuff. I currently use a SATA 5000 RP for clear and getting ready to purchase a new base gun for PPG Envirobase . I see you have the Tekna Basecoat gun and the SATA 5000 HVLP which is what I was going to buy, which gun in your opinion does a better job with the envirobase the tekna or sata? Especially the difficult pearls and metallics. Thanks for your time posting these videos, painters both experienced and new can gain alot from your videos...Good Job
+Bill Lamoureaux ohan thank you so much for the kind words I'm glad I can help! If you don't care much about the budget for for the 5000 since its got the digital Gauge. Now I am a fan of the tekna base coat because you can spray at very low psi 18 for base coat and 15 for control coat . So that is awesome downside is the crappy gauge but you can always change that. Reina bsaecoat will run you a couple hundred dollars less than the 5000 Bottom line you will do great with either or
+Bill Lamoureaux go for it!! I haven't made any directly no but I will! I like to blend to save time and headaches😂 but I do need to tint from time to time!
I just found your channel a few days ago, still Tryin to catch up on vids. You do great work. I'm using the 1.2 and TE20 on my pro lite, and a 2.5 coat method about 27psi. I am gonna try the 1.4 with my fast clear and see how it works.
I see your guns dont have the 2 hole cover on the baffle/spray head, I think its called the baffle plate or air deflection plate. but i see in the internet and other videos on youtube some has it. What is that for?
The tekna prolite, it has an aircap not available in north america called the T110. Its made for laying glass finishes. Im gonna order one from spraygunsdirect
Tekna Prolite for base coat.. TE20 air cap, 1.3 tip, 22-24 psi till you get coverage, then lower it to 17-18 psi for a drop coat/control coat. You should be pretty happy with the finish! Its a great gun. Probably the best bang for the buck on the market!
so happy to hear your review of the tekna basecoat! it's exactly what I've been looking for, I do a lot of side work in my garage and have been searching for the ultimate basecoat gun that I could use with lower pressure. related to this, what do you consider the ultimate clear coat gun that can still atomize great with lower pressure? I have been using a 7yr old Devilbiss tekna with 7E7 cap.
+Todd Cooley hey Todd thanks so much for your kind words! I'm glad this was helpful!! I would recommend an iwata ws400 13hd. Depending on what you are spraying I would use a sata minijet for smaller stuff like mirrors and small stuff like that. Thanks for the support!
I got a pro lite i use it for base and clear, 1.3 tip and the he7 cap , wondering what you think of that cap, i find it atomizes beautiful, especially for what im doing , the cosmichrome system...in my shop,
for my prolight i have 3 for axalta cromax line 1.3 te20 sealer 1.3 te20 for base and 1.4 te20 for clear for my wetbed 2091 or 2093 i use my devilbiss cvi 1.3 but when the humidity is high i switch around caps and tips for the prolights. My next gun just for base is that basecoat gun. i had mentioned i use ppg now whats your set up for ppg envirobase?
+Gilbert Lorona dang! I use the set up that comes with the gun for envirobase PPG cap is hv20 with 1.2 fluid tip but hey whatever works best for you. I think that's a good start for you brother thanks for watching truly appreciate it!!!!
I think you have a awesome attitude about life, I love your video, I really appreciate that you take time out to help people. I started painting in 1997 off and on. I have the Tekna pro lite. It's a great gun, I also love my Iwata lph400 lv, I also have a w400 iwata, I used for clear. I was thinking about buying a ws400 for clear, what do you think?
Hey Gabriel, my rep dropped me off a tekna basecoat and a dv1 basecoat to try them for a week or two. Trying them with a silver tomorrow morning. Which one do you prefer between the dv1 basecoat and the tekna basecoat?
Curious what your opinion is on using a ProLite with a 1.3 tip and TE20 cap. I haven't started at the shop that uses PPG yet, but I plan on using that setup for base. Would I be better off using that setup for clear and using my Sata 4000RP with a 1.2 tip for base, or will the ProLite be fine?
+Craig Locke no I wouldn't use the prolite for clear. But hey try it out on some small jobs and see what works for you . Both of those guns are not my ideal guns that I would use for ppg but they will work! Let me know how it goes! Here is my e mail Motivatedpainters@gmail.com
Great job. I recently bought a pro lite and love it for clear and need to try it for waterborne base. I just sprayed some base-coat with one of my old guns and realized I need a better gun for waterborne. Id like to know what pressures u find work the best as a guide line for base and clear vs fluid tips.
+James Easton hey for base I usually use 25-28 psi for base then 18-20 for control coat and with my iwata ws400 at 30-35 psi 😀 I have a video on the clear set up of you want to watch it just search " how I set up my clear gun "
hi Gabriel I noticed the guns looks the same as the pro lites is there any difference in the guns or are they like the nebula's just a different colour?? expect for the fact that it's a dedicated base gun..
+waseem ahmed they are different guns for sure they don't spray even remotely the same the tekna basecoat gun is one of my favorite guns for silver. The cap is different the body is different as well.
MOTIVATED PAINTERS cool oh well I joined the devilbiss club and purchased a gti pro lite 1.3 hv30 and a gti pri lite 1.8 pr10 as well as dvfr2(remember I requested a review on air filtration systems)..
MOTIVATED PAINTERS I still got a long way till I open my shop and actually use the filtration system.. but I definitely will let u know.. will appreciate any advice going into a shop..
Is that cap on the base coat gun a specific cap for that gun? I really don't like using hvlp caps other than using them for basecoat I haven't figured out how to get the orange peels the way I like em with those
+seth kremis I control orange peel slot of the times just with bring air pressure up or down the more orange peel the lower the pressure the less orange peel the higher the pressure
MOTIVATED PAINTERS yeah I'm able to get good results with those hvlp caps I have the hv30 for my tekna and and hvlp cap for this sagola gun I have but it just seems like it's way harder than it needs to be compared to like the te20 I've never had any sorta of formal training I'm completely self taught so I just figured I haven't figured out how to use them right yet
Hello again.. sorry to bother you, but i have a question about AIRCAPS. If an aircap has LESS holes, does this mean it will use up LESS air and vice-versa, or the holes have to be SMALLER, regardless of the number of the holes? Please, if you have the time, shed some light. Thank you in advance!
+Brulserz that's a question that is very complex and I don't know the answer to but the sense of the question is how to know what used less air I'm not sure. All the guns are different you would have to look at any individual guns specs and look at the air conditions. Sorry my friend maybe someone here cab help you with this question 😊
@@MOTIVATEDPAINTERS correct, but that's not what I was asking. Many of the tekna guns come with multiple caps and tips it just depends on what part number you order. They've marketed the cc/bc guns as such, but from what it looks like they're the same tekna prolite gun? I think gunman mentioned this as well
So I called devilbiss and posed this question and the guy seemed very ambiguous and just basically unconfident in his assertion that the "air passages were designed for the product." I find it hard to believe the gun bodies are different and even if they were that the impact would be insignificant considering they all use the same rebuild kits, tips, needles, and aircaps.
Hello, I’m curious about the tekna basecoat gun. Do you still like it? Does it actually spray base better than the pro lite? I have been using my pro lite for everything and am considering that basecoat gun if it is worth it. Thanks
hey thx for reply and one more I using base coat paint as enamel paint ...what chemical for clean and it good to use that paint gun ?? I am jealous u got bunch of top line paint gun
I really want to get this Tekna basecoat gun and like I said im in Toronto, where would you recommend I get one? I checked eBay but all the American seller will charge customs fees at the border. I also called my paint supplier but they want $900cdn :(
+Valer Vitak no problem my friend! I will see about getting you a better price! Email me your phone number and I will get someone to call you! Or if you have instagram send me private message
Great video... I use te20 1.4 for basecoat cromax pro... it's alot thicker than ppg so hvlp does not work for me that well... I really love the blue basecoat gun, blue is my favorite color so lol I want one, and I want to put a te20 air cap on it.. My prolite 1.4 and the blue basecoat 1.3 I would like to have these 2 setups, one for bumpers or a fender, small blends.. The other for big jobs like full side truck bedsides What do you think bud
I have the same Tekna Prolite kit in your video. Awesome gun, one thing you didn't mention is that the TE10 air cap allows you to use a smaller compressor like a 20 gallon home unit. I prefer the TE20 with a big compressor but for small garage jobs the TE10 is great.

True, I have seen this theory in UA-cam videos. But visiting the devilbiss technical sheet, he confirmed what the friend said.
pro lite 1.3 or 1.4 with HV-30 for base 1.4 with TE-20 for clear. TE-20 makes smaller drop than TE-10
I spray cabinets with a very high solids material with the pro lite 1.4, it is an amazing all around gun. Primer, topcoat, high solids clear, all with a 1.4, fluid wide open 27ish psi. i use a tekna basecoat 1.2 everyday for envirobase. thanks for the videos

I have moved away from the HVLP because you have to get too close for my method of painting, great videos keep them comming. jason from the UK
+jason evans yes I also tend to be a bit away from the panel males me feel like I am in more control.
The T110 is unavailable here in the USA.
I have tested a t3 which is not designed for a gravity fed gun but a pressure pot system but its the closest thing to a t110
jason evans what’s about setup gun for clear and and for waterborne what’s about destines between gun and panels for clear and for base coat
I ordered a T110 from spraygunsdirect in the U.k. with another gun...Got to Florida in ONE DAY!

Have you sprayed the Tekna Copper Clear gun?
A couple sites recommend the T110 air cap for the flattest, no peel finish. I haven't got one, but Sprayguns Direct in England supply DeVilbiss fast!
Hey amigo which presión u us for spray clearcoat in tekna clearcoat I talk about the gold tekna gun ,, sorry bad inglish
What where ur psi when u used the black tekna prolite?
I just found your channel a few days ago, still Tryin to catch up on vids. You do great work. I'm using the 1.2 and TE20 on my pro lite, and a 2.5 coat method about 27psi. I am gonna try the 1.4 with my fast clear and see how it works.
+slie121 let me know!! Easy on the trigger you don't want to run it!! 🏃🏃🏃
Which one do you prefer for basecoat?
How about the needle,,has something to do wiht the function of the gun?? I think there's different sizes too??

@@MOTIVATEDPAINTERSwhich number should I have to use for the 1.3 and te10?
@@MOTIVATEDPAINTERS The Tekna Prolite I got has ONE needle for three tips; 1.2, 1.3, 1.4. Works well with all three.

The tekna prolite, it has an aircap not available in north america called the T110. Its made for laying glass finishes. Im gonna order one from spraygunsdirect
I went to sparygunsdirect and didn't find and T110 or Tekna spray guns ?
Not sure my friend
Ringo Gingo tekna is called gti gti prolite in the uk
the TE10 sold in the US is the same as the TE110 that you can buy outside the US
@@mescalp Not really- the 110 has only 2 small holes each side next to the center- the 10 and 20 have 3 in a triangle each side.
great video, love the prolite, thumbs up brother
I have The Blk one Tekna Have you seen a Optima Euro 900? Whats the better set up for base on the Tekna pro
I haven't used my pro lite in years 😫
Tekna Prolite for base coat..
TE20 air cap, 1.3 tip, 22-24 psi till you get coverage, then lower it to 17-18 psi for a drop coat/control coat.
You should be pretty happy with the finish! Its a great gun.
Probably the best bang for the buck on the market!

of all the sprayers you have used, which one has the least overspray that can get into inside corners?
+Ken Leal that's a tuff question they are all about the same but the tekna basecoat will give you less overspray because of the lower pressure
An man awesome info.. I always thought the thicker the clear the bigger the tip... what about single stage? What size tip would u recommend?
I would use a 1.3-1.4 for single stage
Can you use waterbase for Tekna basecoat spray gun? Thanks!
Absolutely I did it for a long time

for my prolight i have 3 for axalta cromax line 1.3 te20 sealer 1.3 te20 for base and 1.4 te20 for clear for my wetbed 2091 or 2093 i use my devilbiss cvi 1.3 but when the humidity is high i switch around caps and tips for the prolights.
It's a great gun, I also love my Iwata lph400 lv, I also have
a w400 iwata, I used for clear. I was thinking about buying a ws400 for clear, what do you think?
+stan onishi hey thank you so so much for the kind words!! I don't think you will he dissapointed if you get an ws400 !!
thanks for the video men now a know thw gun for me a think a buy the tekna basecoat seems the right gun to me now ✌
+Jaime Rodriguez thanks man! I'm glad I was able to help!!!!
I love Tekna
Can you do a review on the tekna copper ?
I think I did one 🧐
Gabriel Merino didnt see one didnt know wat ur opinion is of it if its slower then the prolite or faster and just as versatile
Very very similar brother finer spray though for clear
Hey Gabriel, my rep dropped me off a tekna basecoat and a dv1 basecoat to try them for a week or two. Trying them with a silver tomorrow morning. Which one do you prefer between the dv1 basecoat and the tekna basecoat?
The tekna basecoat works great but I prefer the dv1
MOTIVATED PAINTERS, so 25-28psi with a 1.2 fluid tip and te10 air cap for base?
+James Easton I use both 1.2 and 1.3 for base I like 1.3 more. Just suits the way I spray.
This gun parchese link please
Are the internals the same on the 2 guns? I'm just wondering if you can just switch air caps with both guns
+Mike Mckay I'm not 100% but yes you can switch the caps
hi Gabriel I noticed the guns looks the same as the pro lites is there any difference in the guns or are they like the nebula's just a different colour?? expect for the fact that it's a dedicated base gun..
+waseem ahmed I don't have that filtration system but let me know how it is! 😀 can't go wrong with tekna they are awesome guns!!
MOTIVATED PAINTERS I still got a long way till I open my shop and actually use the filtration system.. but I definitely will let u know.. will appreciate any advice going into a shop..
I got a " U " gun..." Can I use U gun man?" Lol
Hello gabe! I just want to know if the hv20 and te20 are the same aircap?thank you for the review. great!
I'm not 100 perfect sure! But a quick Google search will give you the answer
I think they are the same just that hv20 comes with a different gun
Dude I'm so useless I'm not sure 🥵😂
Gabriel Merino Right you are useless but keep talking to be more useless.
One day I'll be Useful I hope. I'll die trying
how many air caps has devil-biss for this spray gun and why?
Here in Canada it comes with 2 air caps and its for different materials TE10 = bigger droplets & TE20 = finer droplets
thank man !from cyprus!
+Konstantin Top- painting wow that's amazing! I'm honored! Thank you!
why? thats is a simple explanation!
HV-30 = HVLP Base
TE-10 = LVLP Base or cleal, but i dont like that
TE-20 = RP Clear
Great gun
Is that cap on the base coat gun a specific cap for that gun? I really don't like using hvlp caps other than using them for basecoat I haven't figured out how to get the orange peels the way I like em with those
+seth kremis yeah it's a basecoat gun do it's specific for basecoat it's a great base gun one of my favorite
Thanks anyway. And thank you for taking the time to review my comment.
+Brulserz much love brother!!!
Are the bc/cc guns not the same as the prolite with different colors/ tips included?
No only the tip you order is included
@@MOTIVATEDPAINTERS correct, but that's not what I was asking. Many of the tekna guns come with multiple caps and tips it just depends on what part number you order. They've marketed the cc/bc guns as such, but from what it looks like they're the same tekna prolite gun? I think gunman mentioned this as well
Yes I believe so
So I called devilbiss and posed this question and the guy seemed very ambiguous and just basically unconfident in his assertion that the "air passages were designed for the product." I find it hard to believe the gun bodies are different and even if they were that the impact would be insignificant considering they all use the same rebuild kits, tips, needles, and aircaps.
Is this gun a must have...already have a 1.2rp 5000
+Gia Vanni I would say get your rep to let you borrow a demo
MOTIVATED PAINTERS
No rep here just me.
Whats ur known best working base gun
Tekna basecoat gun
vs
sata 1500rp
Which one
+Gia Vanni for 2017 has been the Matco MTHVLP14 yes Matco haha I did a review on it too
+Gia Vanni oh man lol I guess basecoat
Hey Gabe! Great video. I am using the Tekna prolite. What would be a good tip/ fluid needle to spray single stage paint with?
+AllStarChris anything for clear would be great for clear coat! Te20 with1.3
Thanks Gabe! Greatly appreciate it. Keep up the great work!
@@MOTIVATEDPAINTERSFriend. What configuration can I use Te20 for a perfect finish? Thank you
How about a review on your iwata guns
+anthony delgardo I will do it 😀😀 I've just enjoyed so much spraying it that no time to make a video haha
Hello, I’m curious about the tekna basecoat gun. Do you still like it? Does it actually spray base better than the pro lite? I have been using my pro lite for everything and am considering that basecoat gun if it is worth it. Thanks
In my opinion yes it does spray better my friend it's a great gun !
Thanks for the reply, have you ever sprayed sealer through the basecoat gun? If so how does it do?
I sprayed clear with it and it works amazing so sealer would she the same
I am getting one of prolite it nice set and what u recommend chemical for clean gun ??
+vinnie gonzales laquer thinners if you are using it for clear coat
hey thx for reply and one more I using base coat paint as enamel paint ...what chemical for clean and it good to use that paint gun ?? I am jealous u got bunch of top line paint gun
+vinnie gonzales thinners should work as well prolite is a great gun!
anybody ever make the mistake of leaving your pro lite submerged in thinner to clean it? I heard the plastic piece in trigger melts...
MOTIVATED PAINTERS, umm how do I get your email address? I'm not a real social media user lol
+Valer Vitak no prob that's why I gave the option motivatedpainters@gmail.com
If you don't mind me asking how much did you pay for the tekna basecoat gun in Canadian dollars?
+Valer Vitak hey brother! They go for $675
MOTIVATED PAINTERS , thanks keep the videos coming looking forward to them.
+Valer Vitak thanks brother!!!
Keep up the good work. Your bother in Christ.
Thanks my bro !!!!🤗
Great video... I use te20 1.4 for basecoat cromax pro... it's alot thicker than ppg so hvlp does not work for me that well...
I really love the blue basecoat gun, blue is my favorite color so lol
I want one, and I want to put a te20 air cap on it..
My prolite 1.4 and the blue basecoat 1.3
I would like to have these 2 setups, one for bumpers or a fender, small blends..
The other for big jobs like full side truck bedsides
What do you think bud
It makes sense dude
I only need the part number please,,
what is a drop coat
+its nunya business same as a control coat 😀
You mean 10 minutes. 😅
I hate sealer..
Thinner fluid = larger fluid tip. I don't think so good sir. Try again.
I love you too glad someone knows what their talking about 😘
