Fair play to James for explaining that there was no data on how the tyres would do as the rain had stopped considering the number of laps still ahead for George at that time and justifying him going on Hards then mediums on the last stint, subsequently justifying for Lewis to get Hards as a Last tyre. what is bothering most Mercedes fans is how Bono answered the questions when Lewis was asking what the options are in tyres vs Laps. He only mentioned Soft after Lewis asked him a second time "are there no other tyres available besides Hards?" of which he answered Softs thats the problem because then to Lewis and others that causes doubt as to why didnt you tell him the first time around as tyre options. To the viewers it made Bono and the team look questionable in providing feedback on tyre availability and why didnt he say rather , we recommend Hards but we also have Softs which are huge risk the first time he asked. It was like Bono was telling him which tyre to choose even though Softs were available. We know Lewis is the best on the grid on managing tyres..Gasly did more than 11 laps the 2023 on softs. what bothers most people its sounded like manipulation into forcing him to take Hards when he can have an input into selecting Softs..Anyway we will see in Barca how things go, seeing Merc is managing medium to slow corners well now, im betting on an opportunity for Pole again for either George or Lewis
The track was completely resurfaced after 2023 so that data on Gasly is useless
I think that's because they didn't consider the softs a viable option at that point in the race. So technically one was sitting there which could be used if there was a free pit stop to shoot for fastest lap, with > 10 laps to go there was no way they'd outperform the hards, no matter what the driver might feel. The first answer was the practical "don't give the driver extra things to think about" answer, the second one was the clarification.
Because they did not have new softs either.....
Needs to be proven in Barcelona before we get carried away.

Needs to be proven at least another 3/4 different tracks. Barcelona has always been a good track & lest we forget the false hope there a few years back lol
I think Red Bull RB20 will be super fast there with the flat corners and soft kerbs and will be massive favorites for the third straight win in Barcelona, but we should beat Ferrari and Mclaren in this track with the new super upgrades!
As as RB fan, I'm super happy that Merc is on a great trajectory. Hopefully they can repeat the same performance in Barcelona, 4 teams fighting at the top would be next level.

Just speculation but it seems like Mercedes agenda is to make GR believe he is better than a 7 time world champion, hoping he improves and take the role of lead driver which makes way for Antonelli being driver no.2 The fact that GR has to look at Hams data to improve should be a give away that losing Ham next season will be a big loss to the team.
Love the video edit after the Lewis question just after 6 minute mark. James had to really think about that one and feels like a guilty person explaining their case to a lawyer
Lewis was flying in FP, significantly quicker than George. I think his tyres weren't up to temp when it came out of the blankets.

Considering the lower track and ambient temperature, and the 10 laps that were left, it is hard to believe that Lewis' new Soft tyres were not a serious consideration. Right up there with not telling him that the outlap was "critical" in Monaco.
More to the point, why did they go medium hard? Not hard medium like the others which would’ve helped
Nobody used the softs in the race. Last year's Canadian GP just had one soft tyre stint. This tyre is the C5, and as James points it out, the mediums grained very quickly on Friday. The softs might have been good for 3-4 laps, but after that they'd have died...

Interesting, you put LH on mediums during first change knowing it May grain and then say it was done to split the bets?
Lewis had soft tyres that could have been fitted. Merc said they wouldn’t last 16 laps, but on low fuel, Lewis would have made it work.
Lewis made a soft work for 26 laps
Great result which obviously could've been better but it was nice to see us back in front. George will grow and learn to make less mistakes but it's hard to judge him when everyone, even Lewis, were struggling on track with those conditions.
Onwards to the next one!

Mr Allison , what Russell misses is he can’t keep his tyres within a good range , so a compliment to max and Lando for letting those medium tyres work till the end of the race , better then George on new hard tyres
Lewis's tyre blankets need looking at. Lewis is saying his tyres are underheated going out of the garage, into qualifying. And Lewis asked for softs at that last pitstop in the race, so why put him on hards? Why is he having to almost force information out of Bono?? Why are you not giving Lewis all the relevant information in the races? He said if he had known that George was going to pit, he would have stayed out. Is it too much for you on the Merc pitwall to feed Lewis the information he needs to manage his race????? I must say, there is a growing feeling of distaste among various F1 fandom at the way a 7x WDC is being treated. It looks poor on Toto, it looks poor on Mercedes. You are losing respect as a team.

When a driver underperforms, he starts questioning everything, but in the end, Lewis accepted it was his fault. It looks like W15 characteristics don't match Lewis' driving style(braking really late and getting a normal exit vs. George, who likes to brake early and get a really good exit)
@@อนุวัฒน์ทิมปานสุข they don't address that, 4:20 they address what a car with cold tires means on track in terms of challenges but they don't address lewis's tire blankets not working to the correct settings at all. James explains tire blankets are only allowed up to 70 degrees but they don't say why Lewis's was below that.
Me I'm just upset that they sent Lewis back to track around Q3 when the was 3 minutes left to Q3 to end

This is simply not the case whatsoever, if anything we see Lewis performing in W15 better than George and George went off track several times during this race and has gone off several times in other races because he doesn't brake early at all. See the bout he had with Alonso several races back, didn't brake early and ended up in a wall.

Nothing is more harmful than unfair practices. In the final third practice in Canada, no driver came close to Lewis. All of the practice data information was handed to George in order to defeat Lewis, who was given poorer tyres and was therefore unable to compete with George during the Canadian race. There were hard and soft tyres available. Making Lewis work against himself by giving data that will help George. Lewis finished second in the Chinese sprint event, and Mercedes has refused to recognise Lewis's accomplishments. Mercedes stated that George's third place was the first prize of the year, which is false.
Is a victim mentality a requirement to be a lewis fan or does it just happen unconsciously?
George used Lewis Hamilton's data statistics from three practices in Canada, when Lewis was the fastest to get on pole. So Lewis is working for George. Why is Mercedes turning down Lewis' car during qualifying?

I think the underlying theme running through all these comments is suspected sabotage.
After all the details into consideration, the fans can now have a better understanding of the race results. Although you can see how the team manipulated the outcome in favor of George. Mercedes isn't stupid, why would they promote a driver which is going to Ferrari next year.
It cost them the win. Lewis was easily going to win from Pole.

Lewis was given the hard tyres because that was the best option at that point, but those in front of both Mercedes were not going to change their tyres, and it was a free pit stop in respect to the the cars behind, so why wasn't the decision for Lewis to run the current tyres longer, until the softs became feasible?
How it has taken two seasons at least to acknowledge and address Mercedes slow pit stop problem, teams way down the grid have for a long time been consistently a second quicker than Mercedes. If a team is not within a fraction of a second of the competing teams that should have been a priority a long time ago.

So, why are Lewis's tyres below the required temperature IN THE GARAGE, even before he heads out to qualifying??? And on Sunday, why did you put Lewis on the mediums at the first stops if you knew it was the suboptimal tyre that will grain? Why are you putting so many obstacles in Lewis's way? It's shameful the way Mercedes are treating Lewis. The relationship could have ended on a positive but it's clear that Toto is spiteful, out for revenge. The world is watching.

Mercedes feels the need to post a video to justify a tyre change. They know not only they jeopardised Lewis’ race and their own race, they are having some backlash of their reputation now. If they are confident in Russell, they should give both drivers equal tyres and let them race

@@saikalyan99 It wasnt about tyre deg. Graining was the biggest issue. Everyone is privy to that around canada.
Well the track got resurfaced, also the track was cold due to rain and all, so technically speaking there would be relatively low deg/ graining. And comparison between RD and Merc is not really justifiable because they could be different wing levels and different downforce levels, also different tracks and suspension setup etc etc.
But my question is why different tyre strategies, 1 on hard and other on medium?
I wonder where the team would be had James stayed on and developed the original car for the ground effect era
They messed over Lewis with that tire strategy. You had a scrubbed soft and put him hards. How Merc wants to spin it I see. 6 more months

Why would you do that? You don't need two new mediums for the race unless you're expecting a 3 stop race. Even then, you'd use a medium used set likely.

There wasn't any new medium but what about softs? especially on the last stint for Lewis. There were like 12 or 13 laps left. Surely a 3lap old soft (used in quali) will still be faster for that short stint.

Lewis wanted the mediums not hards,they were used but he was going to be quicker and there was few laps remaining.
The car was worth winning. George bottled under pressure and threw it away. Lewis would have definitely won it if he had qualified a couple of places ahead. Overall the car looked great but the drivers weren't.

So nothing on Lewis's underheated tyres? James has explained how the car reacts if the tyres lose heat once out on track, but he has ducked the question of why Lewis's tyres are under temp in the garage, before going out. Also, what i glean from James's explanation is that the team were quite happy to potentially hinder Lewis's race. They knew the mediums were the more vulnerable tyre, susceptible to graining, yet they put Lewis on these tyres at the first tyre change with over 25 laps to go. So, now Lewis is on a vulnerable tyre which means if there was no further safety car, his race is f*cked. He would have to stop again, while those who changed onto the hards at the first stops (i.e. George) would race to the end without another tyre change? Come on Mercedes. I know Lewis is leaving but can you at least make some effort with him. It's clear as day that George is being prioritised, but Lewis deserves better. I'm wondering if Lewis could get someone independent to be in his garage, even simply to make sure his tyre temps are correct while in the garage. Even Lewis's dad, Anthony should be there. He could make sure his son's tyre temps are not being messed with in the garage..
Mr. Allison you are a genius aerodynamicist 2nd to no one. But i hope you are not part of the sabotage towards Lewis. Thank you for your hard work of getting the car stable.
Lewis really needs to get more aggressive again if he wants to win something again. He does not get the wins handed to him by far superior machinery anymore like it used to be. While he is the more consistent driver of the two it also seems like he doesn't want that top spot bad enough anymore compared to George.

I truly hope he sees something in Ferrari that we don’t and that he has an eighth title before he bows out.
