  • I'm very excited about Atgames latest ALP 4K redesign announcement. Do you think Atgames can pull this off at a reasonable price... hopefully by later this year we will find out.

Expect $1199-$1200 pricing. I can't see a 4K playfield screen, upgraded CPU, integrated vibs along with a larger backglass coming in under $1200.
Me, since I've put in a 4k screen already, I'll probably invest in the CPU upgrade board.

I appreciate the video and your comments. I have two ALP's and the first one was direct ship from atgames and had haptic vibration with stock exciters, the control panel replacement pretty much fixed that.
THe second ALP from Sams, had great exciters and no buzz, speakers in the backbox were in baffles, ect, it was obvious that they had made improvements between the versions, even beyond those listed.
I think you are way off on pricing. This will be a 1299-1499 product at launch and direct sell, sellout, just like ALU 4k, that will be 999.
Now in a year or so after the demand wanes, you should see discount pricing direct. I don't see sams getting the 4k versions of either product, if atgames continues with the reg alu and reg alp, maybe slightly update ALU to 3399 pcb.
The same thing happened with the og alp, sold out direct, shipped in waves, then later in its lifecycle made it to Sams, these new 4k products are priced out of the Sams market, people who know what this is will buy it, I dont see this as an impulse buy at brick and mortar.

@@show-me-retro I hear you but look at what they did. You are asking them to sell it at around the same price as ALP msrp is now. They upped the backbox to near or better than buystuff store and thats a 300-400 upgrade, added solenoids, better speakers, 4k screen, new body, 3588, longer legs, ect. I've looked into custom build as well, lets see how this pans out, I dont think anyone makes an under 2k 4k pinball machine but maybe they do with Chinese import off alibaba.

4k may be nice, but low monitor response time and high refresh rate is what we need. My laptop has a 120hz screen and I noticed a huge difference in ball movement. If they are are pricing over 1100, depending on if you want more OTG play, you are getting into where a flatpack may be the better option. Time will tell.

Sounds pretty good to me. It is true that majority of 32in TVs are only 720p with a few 1080p as I had one that recently stopped working, but there are plenty of PC displays that are 4k and under 32in so not too hard to imagine. I have a 32in PC nmonitor that does 1440p and it's gorgeous. Yeah with 9 months left to meet the deadline I would think they would have a better mock up design by now. I can see a price north of $1 grand. My thinking for this is a lot of people mod their cabinets and I bet Atgames see's that as money lost. It also seems like the DMD is optional, so that might affect the price but I think everyone would want a dedicated DMD. With the PCB upgrade at $399, I just don't see this coming in at $899, but I hope I'm wrong. The 4k screen is a nice upgrade but I would rather have a 120hz monitor. I also am curious how the solenoids would work with FX3 of VPX, or is that only for the built in tables.

Great points as always mate. My concerns are that people have invested a lot into the 1st legends pinball. Firstly the hartics were rubbish and im sure the solenoids will be just on the same par. The upgrade mod with a bass shaker will deliver greater performance.
So what's offered for current owners is a 300 dollars upgrade to have a faux pin up interface upgrade when you can do that all ready on otg mode, it doesn't add any value. It's all about the upgraded 4k screen.
However, the 1080 screen on the ALP isn't sharp and lacks sharpness so whats to say they wont compromise on a 4k screen as well?
I feel in the current climate a 4k screen plus the extras will be easily over 1k most 4k pinballs devices are over 2kor3k so they will have no option to do cut backs somewhere. I'm used to paying higher in England but for me it's probably easier and more cost effective to build one myself so says it all!
I'm happy to discuss further on chat...

    • @show-me-retro
      @show-me-retro  Рік тому +1

I'm lucky to have not invested that much in my ALP. I'm over 1k but that's mainly due to table packs and control panel.
You're right about most vpins are in the higher end range BUT most of them have even more options like subs, knockers, and larger screens. I really hope Atgames realizes if they go much more over $1k that most people will build their own or just go with a custom vpin with better specs

@@show-me-retro As a competitive league pinball player who hasn’t bought a VPin yet but is shopping, I think all the talk about upgrading and building your own machines misses the fact that most buyers just want to play pinball and don’t care about specs or building the perfect machine. Moding is it’s own hobby. Bells and whistles are great, but if you’re thinking about getting a pinball for the kids at Christmas, price is probably more important than anything else. I hope ATgames, after their 4K comes out, keeps their current model, or something like it, in production so that the casual buyer can still get into pinball at a decent price.

I upgraded to a 4k screen a couple years ago. I noticed the difference between 1440p to 4k. It does get much more expensive though on the pc side when going 4k; I had to upgrade my 1070 on my pinball pc. I also upgraded my arcade cabinet at the same time from 1080p to 4k 32 screen. I had a 4690k with a 980ti in the arcade cabinet, but I had to put in a 3600 with a 1080 ti to max everything at 4k on mk11 without any drops or stutters. So, it is a bit of diminishing returns.

This to me just gives people choices now that they have a mini too. I would have liked to have seen a bigger 4k screen or 120hz with this new one. Maybe the screen will give you a choice of 1080p 120 vs 4k 60. Hopefully we will get some kind of screen controls with this. Please for the love of God give me a better way to navigate the menu and do away with that piece of crap directional pad!!!!!

For 1k and up starting price?..no thanks I’m good with my current ALP w vibs board. It’s already playin all the cool games on there. This would be more for the vpinball hcore gamer, For average consumer 1k for a pinball is pretty steep IMO.

@Show-Me Retro I work for a Semi tool supplier company, we've tripled our production in the last 3 years, and we're only 50% of the the way to where Intel needs us to be, we have supply shortages, and so does everyone trying to build out our expansion. We never recovered fully from covid before Russia turned the world's supply chains upside down, we have to build our way out of it, there's no easy button to move production back domestically, so much new to build from scratch.

@Show-Me Retro we also do business with all the other fabs, Samsung, Global Foundries, TSMC, IBM, SK Hynix, Micron, etc...and their all building fabs. And there's a tin of battery plants being built, then add on top of rebuilding our supply chains, we also have the massive infrastructure rebuilding all over the country. There is no time to lay people off or have a recession with everything that's on our plate already or still in planning, we are in a massive building boom.
