It's so iconic, it has lots of character, there's no other whatcha that looks like that unless is another Casio. It's just fun to have something practical, durable, cheap but retro sci-fi looking.
Here’s my two cents. There’s a big difference between watch aficionados and people who just want to know the time. The first group is tiny and second group is huge. The first group cares about wrist presence, the second group wants to be able to forget they’re wearing a watch until they need to know the time. I got into watches two years ago, and have watches ranging from 36mm-44mm, divers, dress watches, field watches, quartz, mechanical, etc. I’ve tried nearly every kind of strap or bracelet out there. After all that time and money spent, the conclusion I’ve come to is that most watches don’t hack it as dailies. They’re too bulky and uncomfortable. I’m seriously considering getting a cheap plastic Casio three hander because I don’t want to tighten a strap like a tourniquet in order to keep a heavy watch from sliding on my wrist. Casio is a clever company. They give you a watch that has everything you need and nothing that you don’t, that looks good, at a great price.
The above statements are very well put... I got my first watch in 94, a Casio DBC63 and still have it and works but did not have a timer. Went out and got a Gshock for the timer function for work and thats when I got back into watches. Went from low to high end, and like above I want a watch that does it all and does not bother me in what I am doing. The GW9400 was huge and could not get under my culf, the automatics were heavy and flashy, and made me feel less humble. I am going back to the basics with the A168, a Casio Lineage and soon a citizen chandler. The automatics will be gone and few other large quartzes.
Im 56, each time I look at it I smile and remember teen me lying in bed playing with the buttons at night listening to John Peel on Radio 1. You cant buy that! 😁
I had the plastic one in the 80s with a 1 piece velcro strap. Pure nostalgia! 80s is the new retro decade, I see college age kids wearing them and I just smile. 😊😊
Here's why I believe this watch is so revered. It has multiple functions to it, it has the EL backlight which is awesome, the bracelet does pull hair sometimes but looks nice with the watch itself, it's retro design is fantastic. This was actually my first watch in early 90s minus the EL BACKLIGHT. It had the little light node. It's sleek and seems more expensive than it is. Basically, more bang for your buck. I too collect watches but this one is special to me for nostalgia reasons. Walmart has them for usually $21 to $22. For all that you get it's a great value.
Wonder if that’s part of their sales numbers, people just rebuying rather than worry about fixing. Could almost just get a new one vs buy batteries to change out
Great piece and I am wearing this watch right now. I think is well made and the band is very comfortable along with the fact it looks good for most occasions. It just a good value for the money. I have about 14 watches and this one will be with my collection for many years to come.
It’s seriously the coolest watch there is… Straight 1980’s Vibes, classy, elegant, practical, and super affordable. I’d happily wear one as a daily alongside a Cartier Santos. It’s that good and versatile. 👌🏼 I also love that it’s made in Thailand, and the bracelet is made in Cambodia. It’s not made in China.
This is one of my favorites, and I got a few watches that are really expensive. Because it's 80s/90s retro, and this is the best looking of that bunch. Because its very comfy. Because its light weight Because its got great backlight. This is why the A168 is above other similar like A158 etc. Because it goy 10 year battery.
I love mine even if I don't wear it all the time. Extremely comfortable and I usually wear it when I'm doing something where my watch might get damaged.
I know someone who has worn this model ever since it first came out! He even has a couple of spares brand new in the boxes ! He gifted me one last Christmas as a joke i think? The thing is i actually like it and occasionally wear it! I guess its the retro thing? He usually puts on a new one when the battery gives out !
This watch can do it all, it can be dress, sports, and field, make no mistake, you absolutely CAN swim with this on,there is no situation it isn't able to handle. Its small, WITHOUT being TOO small,it has a very cool retro vibe without being ironic, its a timeless design,in the same way a cartier tank is a timeless design. Its cheap but in a weird way doesnt FEEL cheap,it weighs nothing and yet it has a real wrist presence. Its more accurate and tougher than any luxury "tool" watch you can think of,no rolex can take the beating this can take, you dont have to worry about it and yet it takes care of every watch need you have. In other words its damn near perfect, the only thing id change is the case to a true stainless case, other than that? Why mess with something this cool?
(i have the f 105 w) what most of these casios have that nearly nobody is pointing out is the good readable digits for their small size. i even dont use the el untill it is real dark. also i like that u dont really feel these watches on the wrist, they are so small and light. the design is of course a big reason , too.
4:00 The Fake One will say Casio too.^^ The Design and Functionality of this Watch paired with the Affordability and how it sits on the wrist is just GOD TIER!
Great watch!! My second favorite model of Casio digital watches with the a700 being my favorite. I also have the 158 and 178 models which are also fantastic. My ONLY problem I have with these watches is the watch band. They pull your wrist hair and the clasp can EASILY come undone and fall off your wrist. Just replace the band with a BANDINO 18mm adjustable and expandable watch band for all these models and you are set for many years of comfort and reliability of great Casio digital watches.
Have it on right now. Is it the baddest watch ever made? It might be. I have way more expensive watches and this one eats their lunch all day, every day.
To be fair though, imo this watch is not really suited for you. It’s a small watch, and a hair puller. And you have plenty of both lol. My wrists are small and not so hairy so it’s very comfortable/proportional

I think that’s a very logical and likely correct way to look at it

This is a banger of a watch! Gets attention outside and compliments. Casio is the most loved watch brand around the world 😀
Very true
Cheap, cheerful, and decent quality, with features most people use, all for the price of lunch. Hard to beat that, and that's why I have one.
This is just a great looking watch I have one in my collection. To me the size of the watch on your wrist looks perfect. 👍
I was surprised by how not little it felt on compared to how it looks off the wrist
I’m actually wearing this watch right now. Great piece. Inexpensive and easily replaceable if broken.
Wonder if that’s part of their sales numbers, people just rebuying rather than worry about fixing. Could almost just get a new one vs buy batteries to change out
If you're going to get an affordable watch, why not get an classic, iconic watch?

i have one. very simple, vintage, retro design, and cool watch, light.. very legible screen, love it.

I just bought one of these and its now my favorite watch
- not going to dive with it
- some other youtuber puts it in nearly 200m pressure to kill it
I just love these cheap Casios
Saw one of these pressure tested down to 1348 MTRS before water ingress,Casio are literally god tier
I love mine even if I don't wear it all the time. Extremely comfortable and I usually wear it when I'm doing something where my watch might get damaged.
I love to beat all my watches to crap lol

I've actually own 2.
One is boxed and unworn with the tags. Just because I like it so much.

Pretty well said!

Is the alarm loud enough of 158 like f91w plz tell me
Also i own the actual F91-W along with the baby brother which has illumination and the big brother as well they are awesome watches for me 👍👍
On wrist A168 really has some millennial looks, resembles the watch our parents use to wear. A Classic and timeless design for a watch. ❤❤
Have it on right now. Is it the baddest watch ever made? It might be. I have way more expensive watches and this one eats their lunch all day, every day.
Been around since 1995*, it’s predecessor the a158 has been around since the 80s
I have a $600 g shock but I wear this one the most
To be fair though, imo this watch is not really suited for you. It’s a small watch, and a hair puller. And you have plenty of both lol. My wrists are small and not so hairy so it’s very comfortable/proportional
Actually i have that one,and the other one with the gold face and the actual gold one, they are awesome watches to me i give them thumbs up 👍👍
Casio is still a branded watch and luxury for me as a student who have to relay on parents for everything 😅
Clearly it’s a chic MAGNET!
Daily driving for 8 months
Thoughts?
@@NotAnotherWatchChannel wonderful, people do notice the watch and ask about it. I live in Delhi, India
The best watch I have. In my collection have even Rolex. It is the best watch ever. The retro icon
I guess this is the 168w and not 158w
You are correct! I said the wrong one, but my measurements are from calipers so interesting that falls between what they two are said to be
Aqurancy 1month 1 second 🥰🥰🥰
It's a plastic watch with a metal strap I think..
Really?
Classic.
lol man is vexed
Not really
Smart watches brought the style back probably.
