"I'm not a very good musician". Brother, I feel ya. The great thing about technology is that us non music school students get a shot to make something nice. Irving Berlin wrote everything in C and did the same trick but with a big clunky mechanical contraption. I love Irving Berlin. Don't tell anyone.
Thank you Kenny! I was racking my mind trying to figure out how to record a piano part for a buddy's song, which he had played with a capo; I thought I was going to have to learn all the chords to actually play this one song in the key of F#m, which is where it landed with no capo!
Thank you for this video, again a very useful one. The title should be "Intelligent transposing MID in Reaper" because it's much more than simply transpose. ; )
I need to know how to transpose the entire song (all midi tracks) to another key. My singer has higher range, so what I suppose to do? Is there way to transpose banch of midi tracks?
I didn't get the difference between snap and transpose, Of course, It sounds different to me, but don't get it, Does It just moves some keys and not all to the new transposed scale?
Yes. It leaves the notes that are already fitting in the new key (ie the notes that exist in BOTH keys ) where they are and only moves the remaining notes (the ones that don't exist in both keys but do in the first key) to make them now fit into the second key.
This is so close to what I'm trying to do! I own a Yamaha EZ-EG midi guitar controller and I'm trying to figure out how to reassign the note-on messages in real time to simulate alternate tunings for the controller. Specifically, I'm trying to "retune" it so it functions as if it were tuned in 5ths like a mandolin/tenor guitar/tenor banjo. Is there a way to use ReaControlMIDI to accomplish this?
what a waste pf time this reaper program.... instead of just holding the mouse left button to select the notes you want and using arrows to move the notes up/down, u have to go through a series of dialogues just to do that....
I'm pretty sure I've would have written Reaper off as too difficult if it wasn't for you. Good work Kenny!
Your videos are so awesome. I learn every time I watch one. Thanks Kenny!
Every time you introduce something that is just so useful and practical - many thanks!
Thanks Kenny... Didn't know about this using input fx.

Kenny, you are a genius !
Transpose notes octave up: ALT + 8
Transpose notes octave down: ALT + 2
Today’s treasure find! Thanks Kenny 👍🏻
This video helped a lot, Thanks kenny !!
You make Reaper and everything easier. Thanks
Wow wow wow!!! Game changer!!!!
You're the man Kenny, thank you!
Thank you
You're still the best!
what I was after was transposing one note in a track, say, changing all the B3's in a midi item to C4's. I'm disappointed Kenny didn't go there,
thanks
Good job!
Thank you! Cheers!

Does Reaper Have a system tune? Say if I just want everything pitched -1.5 semitones down or at 410Hz, is that possible in Reaper? Thanks.

Add the plugin that comes with Reaper called "MIDI Transpose Notes"
@@donpdonp this will allow me to play in real time?
I didn't get what the point of this is if you can play what you need right from the keyboard?
Your intro is a little loud dude.
