Today's my 55th birthday and yes I'd go back to 87 in a heartbeat. I love this band and all this type of music. I love being gen x... Now more than ever.
This is my song to play on people's birthdays compared to Stevie Wonder's more well known version a year earlier. They both are awesome songs though nonetheless and both hit no.2 in the UK.
I hope you play it *every year* on your birthday, no matter where you are, remembering how much your dad has loved and adored you! This is such a joyous birthday song, and I'm guessing he wanted you to feel joy and how much he has loved you on each of your birthdays.

My mom has played this song for me every year on my Birthday- I was born in 80 and it’s the best way to start your birthday dancing around in the living room! Thanks Mom!
I watched Sixteen Candles and this song was in it reminded me of how great this band was. Today’s generations have no idea how awesome the 1980’s were.
The 80s were great because Reagan and Thatcher were leading the free world. Two staunch conservatives not like these progressive communist globalists of today
Just turned 45 and every year this is the song that gets stuck in my head. And always the tune I sing when saying happy birthday to someone else. Such a great song from my teen years. The 80s were such a special time for music. 🎤🎵🎶

That is SOOOO cool! You are the MOM! I'm playing this right now because it's my birthday and just thought it would be really cool to hear it as a segueway into it. I'm glad I did, because I got to see this comment from you. I love that there's people out there who still take the time to be awesome. You just made my own special day even more special for that. So much so that I'm going to play this again! Thank you!
Today is my Birthday and YES!!! I love this - the very best of the 80s - my favorite stye!! The haircuts and her earrings are fantastic!!! All those highlights!! This is the CUTEST, most fun video ever. A Birthday party in Italy? Yes, please!! I think that is where they are supposed to be in the video.
The 80's were good but also shit, summers were long and hot, winters had snow rather than just ice, a time when even our parents never had a care in the world and porn magazines could be found in any bush, when every peado had a beard and always hung about swing parks
I was lucky enough to see them play at The Ritz. We dressed up for the occasion cause in those days the band could see the audience and riffed off us. It was a GREAT SHOW!
Everyone dressed up to go clubbing back then. Men wore trendy suits and heeled shoes/boots, and women wore dresses and stilettos. Now, men wear jeans, t- shirts, and trainers and 50 % of the women do too. I still make an effort on a daily basis, even in my mid 50s, minus the stilettos, they kill your feet. Lol 😊
And we still adore her all these year later. A special lady. I adore this video and am sad that some dislike it. I just don't think they understand. You had to be there!
Ahhhh, the 80s. My heydays and the music was just so great.Love the joy and energy from Clare here and the group. Damn, those Scottish New Wave bands were, and still are fantastic. (Well, Manchester groups aren't too bad. either, wink, wink.) So glad so many of them are still touring for us old timers to enjoy and relive "back in the day" memories. My son, now 26, agrees that music from this era will never be equaled and enjoys it as much as I do - I guess a statement that great music never fades away.
I love the fact that I grew up during this time era! 🥰 Every year, when it’s my best friend’s birthday, I text her the link to this video. She’s probably getting sick of it, now, but who doesn’t love this song? 😊
Same here. When some of my family members birthday comes i send the link to this video to them on Facebook. But i don’t send them this exact one. There’s a better live version i send them
@@StMichael7 I recently started sending it to other friends and family. My sister, who I’m not close with, actually said, “That’s a blast from the past!” It was nice, it reminded me of our childhood 😊
I can't think of any other singer or band member from all those years ago who is still held in such high regard and is remembered with such genuine affection. Perhaps it's because Clare really looked as if she could have been the pretty, cheeky girl next door - happy, laughing and eminently kissable. Certainly, an awful lot of boys lost their hearts to her and still remember her fondly :)

On granddaughters birthdays I like to send them a happy birthday song, I chose this one for 18th birthday. She loved it. My musical history commenced in the late 50’s, Elvis, Buddy Holly, Johnny Duncan etc. By the time the 80’s arrived, there was little I liked. I’d heard of Altered Images, but cannot recall specifically any songs. Now, at the age of 80, and having sent granddaughter this track, I’m now working through the tracks available today.
