  • Improve Hormone Health the Natural Way | Dr. Gemma Newman
Show Description: Learn how to manage and improve your hormone health in the healthiest way possible.
Dr. Gemma Newman shares how women can revitalize and nourish their hormones by eating a cleaner diet and living a healthier lifestyle. The "Plant Power Doctor" also discusses how women can become more aware of the signs and symptoms that their hormonal health could be in danger.
She estimates that as many as 80% of women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) are unaware they have the disease and can be baffled by their symptoms. Likewise, many women with endometriosis are going far too long without receiving a diagnosis.
Dr. Newman discusses how a plant-based diet can help alleviate many of the painful symptoms and bring hormones back under control to help women age healthfully for years to come.
She joins “The Weight Loss Champion” Chuck Carroll on The Exam Room Podcast.

for that chocolate smoothie. I dont know the exact recipe that they discussed here, but I make chocolate plant-based smoothies all the time. just throw 1/4 cup black beans in with plant milk (or water), banana, tablespoon of nut butter, and a teaspoon of cacao powder. you can also put soybeans or cannellini beans in the smoothie, the beans take the place of the protein powder you may have otherwise used. you can also put baked sweet potatoes into a smoothie, which will make it sweet and creamy. carrots are also quite sweet when blended. experiment and have fun with it. you can’t go wrong!

Listening to this as a holistic doctor, I feel this doctor is becoming one too . Everyone is unique . That’s important. What works for one will not work for another. But plant based diets and healthy eating help but so does a healthy mind. This needs to be addressed too.

Losing inches will show faster than losing pounds... and you can stay within range of the same weight and still look thinner through losing those inches.

What is even considered to be a healthy hormone level for the elderly female? It's a different scenario completely. Believe me we aren't worried about too high estrogen levels.

So wish I had this information in my youth. I'm positive I had undiagnosed PCOS. I'm in menopause now, but definitely finding this woe beneficial. I still have a facial hair issue but that from years of having to shave every other day, and sometimes daily.

I agree doctors are focused on curing the symptoms but not prevention. More patients per day, more $$. I get all the scoop in nutrition etc from UA-cam vids like these.

After ovulation estrogen declines and progesterone rises (progesterone has neuro effects), which is why women may not feel well leading up to their period.

      Eggs (Yuck)
      Mushrooms

Hi Linda, I also struggled with hypothyroidism and was on medication for several years (but still had severe symptomps). What I think helps me the most (besides the diet promoted on this channel) is supplementing selenium and vitamin D (and from time to time I also supplement zinc). I still think the whole thyroid thing is a difficult topic, but today I am feeling way better than I did earlier when I was on medication.

I have been keto carnivore with leafy green veg and nuts for the past five years. Never experienced any of the side-effects mentioned. Yes my LDL went up (zero small dense ldl) , but my triglycerides went down and my HDL went up. After two years on this diet my coronary calcium score improved by 38%. My hscrp is usually under 1 . Fasting insulin usually around 5-6 . Triglycerides 1 and hdl 1.8(metric units).Poop regularly, no constipation. Libido good. Must be that we are a species that respond to different diets differently?
