Update on Tony - he was sleeping in a tent in the Hampton Court area in the winter of 19-20. Locals really took to him and helped him with food and bedding. Even found him a flat in Esher. He didn’t stay long though, as I guess it was a huge adjustment after 30 years. He was last heard of in Oxford.
Walking around the coast of Great Britain is such an achievement, but to do it twice and cope with being homeless for 25yrs with such a pleasant outlook. You sir are a legend and i tip my hat to you. I hope you are well
But he has no stability or family. He deserves a cozy home with a good partner. I bet he doesn't remember the last time someone made him breakfast in the morning. This isn't some romantic lifestyle, it's depressing. Poor man
Wow at the end got me the most. " and third, no, i don't need a third cause i'm always happy." Just kinda shows where our priorities as a society are. Amazing he's so positive even being homeless, thanks invisiblepeopletv I love the work you guys do keep up the amazing work!
Working in homelessness in the uk it is absolutely true that single men, even with access to their children are bottom priority for housing, also being homeless is not a priority for housing at all, other barriers include not having a 'local connection ' if you dont have one you get nothing at all. If you are offered a hostel or something and for some reason it's not suitable so you decline most councils will then end your entitlement to help. Change these rules and it would solve a lot of problems. Facts. Beautiful fellow by the way, enjoyed listening. Thanks to Mark for his work, your a real inspiration Mark.
Interesting man. He is the type of person you could talk to at any time and feel at ease. He has a nice personality, and I hope he will be able to continue to feel good about himself and evenutally find a place to live, however humble it might be.
Tony you are one amazing fellow it was such pleasure to of met you at Brighton marina me and tashi took you fishing to shoreham I have the the short clip! Still watched it only yesterday I do really hope you recovered from your illness! Last I heard you was in hospital Although I never seen you after that! My buddy told me at the cafe! He has been closed approximately 4 years now and last year I lost the love of my life tashi! I really hope you are alive and well as can be! Somewhere enjoying yourself fishing! The summer is coming! & I still have the ugly stick that you gave tashi! Bless you Tony! Would be lovely to see you again! But if we never do we will meet up again! In the next take care buddy! So pleased I found this clip of you! All the best Brian 🤞♥️x
I love this guy. Perspective really helps with ones attitude. I lived in a tent for 8 months, but my situation was very different to his. I did it on purpose, traveling free around Australia by 🚲. Good times.
I'm supposed to go back to London next spring or early summer. After my Dad died unexpectedly earlier this year, I almost lost my mind. Our friends felt bad for me and wanted me to come stay with them in England. I went for a month (Super sweet elderly couple in their late 70s/early 80s). When I go back (maybe for good if I end up homeless here), I'd love to talk with some homeless people there to learn more, since these videos are so short. Of course I'll help the best I can depending on their needs. Older people always have great life stories and lessons, homeless or not. I hope Tony is still doing well. 😊

I love the English, but Londoners can suck it. What a miserable city to live in. Wonderful to visit, could occur yourself solidly for a month, but the people get to you after about a fortnight
If your name is not on the tenancy agreement they kick you out, Happened to me, my council house was in my wifes name(unbeknown to me) when she left me, the council were actually quite good, they gave me 6 months(in case she returned)then I was evicted. I then lived in a lorry that i bought cheap for a year, eventually rented a flat etc etc. But being single I was on the bottom of the housing list, until I hit 65, then I got a council flat and I am still there. I suppose at 65 you move into the vulnerable category, For over 20 yrs they didn't want to know, It was more luck than judgement that I didn't end up like Tony!

For many of these people, they are fully employable, however, in order to get a job they need an address. They even need an address to get benefits. Without an address it's hard to get anything. There should be hostels that act as an address for these people so they can put that address down when they apply for jobs. There should also be a clothing depot where they can get free clothing so they can dress appropriately to apply for those jobs. Britain gives away billions of tons of clothing to third-world countries every year. Much of it is resold or made into cleaning rags, etc. Keep some of that back and give it to the homeless.

The UK gives £13 billion a year to Foreign Aid, and yet can't 'afford' a £100 million to put the homeless in accommodation. Fookin' sucks.

With Thatcher in charge? Surprised they didn't deliberately kill him by running him over in a police car!
i think you will find it standard OP for councils to boot people out in those circumstances...i speak from experience
