I have a feeling that the new writers for GTA 6 have not played the previous games so we won't see any minor characters like Jerry. At most, we'll see someone like Gracie Ancelotti or a GTA Online character like Agent 14.
Ive had the exact same fears for a while now. I feel like the new writers will fall down the millennial writing trend of other games like Saints row and borderlands 3/new tales of the borderlands. They will crank up the one liners and ironic sarcasm, ignoring any semblance of an intresting story. dont get me wrong, comedic elements are what gives gta games their charm, but they shouldn't pull a borderlands 3 and put funny one liners and quirky dialogue every 5 seconds, even during a main characters death.
I'm pretty sure it was written by the same writers, then they left in 2019 when the game was already in production, so should be good. Though this is two games ago and a minor character so I doubt he will make it to gta6

The one dude with Issac at the diamond deal held it the same way and was shot by Luis. I could see both Kenny and Jerry in but as a merchant like the Cashiers at ammu nation who always talks with Trevor sandy shores or the one that talks to Franklin in LS. RDR2’s epilogue also has Pearson as a merchant who you talk to a couple times. Hopefully Don percival and Kenny are the two antagonists through out GTA 6.

I’m so glad I found this video about this topic. If I walk into a gun/liquor store with a hint as to what happened with Jerry, it will just give me goosebumps. I’ve been thinking about this specific detail to the story ever since the setting to VI was confirmed. The diamonds detail to the story was always intriguing to me and hearing the radio broadcast and Internet cafe website mentioning vice city is almost like alarm bells going off. I would just get goosebumps, when I’m least expecting it, to go into a gunshop in the middle of nowhere and see Jerry running the store. I don’t see how there is an excuse to not at least have his son running the store with some dialogue lines about how his dad bought this place after he found some diamond’s in the trash in liberty city. These types of things really separate the good from the great. I know I’m a huge nerd and I really like this game IP. But how couldn’t you and I think I’m in the right place to make this comment.
Counter-Argument: While your logic about Jerry Kapowicz and how he could fit into the game is well-reasoned... This is also the same Rockstar that wouldn't even celebrate GTA IV's anniversary. I guarantee if you went around Rockstar's offices and asked the writers and producers about Jerry Kapowicz, most would go, "...Who?". That's because so many of the people that worked on GTA IV are no longer with Rockstar. Let alone the specific writers and producers that would care about continuity and lore. Yes, we got GTA IV characters in GTA V... They were also major or quite well-known characters for the most part (and were often under-utilized even at that). Jerry is a very, very minor character that you only really see at the end of the game and not many people know of him.

Your incredible at what you do. I just bought GTA V the other day after your video with Dwayne & Playboy X. When GTA V originally released I played it, but my gaming style was much different. I didn't explore, I didn't pay attention to the story & I didn't engage in the world around me. But since 2018, I have played RDR1, Bully, & now im starting GTA 4. Im starting to feel like 2008 was the year Rockstar was at its best. These games were beyond amazing & I believe they were far ahead of their time.

I' ve just finished GTA IV (literally today) and I have heard the news on the radio about this homeless veteran finding diamonds and his plans to have liqueur and guns store in Vice City. I was like "is this guy be mentioned in GTA VI. I believe there will not be a reset like between 3D universe and HD, especially when RDR from HD era and RDR2 share the story. Of course I knew the diamonds were found by the guy but I haven't remembered the Vice City part.

There could be one legitimate reason why Jerry wouldn't directly appear in the game: most HD games take place in the year they came out (2008-2009 for GTA 4 and EFLC, 2013 for GTA 5), so I wouldn't be surprised, if GTA 6 took place in like... the next few years. Meaning, 15-20 years have passed since Jerry has found the diamond, plenty of time for the diamond's bad luck to catch up with him. By the time GTA 6's story begins, he could have gone bankrupt, got murdered or who knows. Yet there could be a child or good friend of him relevant to the story. I guess we'll see.

Knowing that packie has had such an amazing role with the main protagonists of 4th and 5th GTA if you pick him up as a crew member I'd like to see him more of a main character to play as so we could see his whole back story that lead up to him moving to Los Santos so it leaves the gaps from the 4th GTA covered up their are a few reasons why packie moved to Los Santos thats just my opinion about packie
If you notice in the side by side, Jerry actually holds the diamonds in his right hand, not his left. So maybe he could have "changed the fate" so instead he has good luck
Jerry is holding the diamonds with his right hand, the opposite of the chef. Thus it is actually foreshadowing the opposite of the fate of the chef, when the diamonds were bad luck for the chef they will be good luck for Jerry
When I first saw the homeless guy with the diamonds at the end of tbogt I was confused because they were thrown onto the back of the truck but now I’m starting to wonder if Luis actually never gave anyone the diamonds and the reason why the homeless guy finds them is because Luis actually drops them when he rams into him

Remember that gta 4 released 15 years ago. And remember that we still don't have gta 6 in 2023. I think that there is a possibility that he appears in the next gta game but there is also a option when rockstar forgets about him. Like who remembers this minor character from 2008 game? Today Rockstar employees are not the same that created gta 4 and even gta 5.
I fear there might be next to no story-wise connections to GTA IV in GTA VI. Mainly because like how you mention, virtually nobody is asking for it, the fanbase is pretty much entirely composed of new fans thanks to GTA V now. Most of the people who worked on GTA IV are gone from Rockstar by now, and I also strongly believe GTA IV is considered a "bad game" within Rockstar themselves. They just don't respect it the way it deserves, because of the insane amount of money GTA V and its goofy and craziness brought to them over the serious and grounded tone of IV. This was shown by the way they threated Johnny and The Lost, and the subsequent success of the game might have only exacerbated that feeling. But if they still were to honor the game somehow, I hope you are on the right and Jerry will be in Vice City, being some sort of modern Phil Cassidy, getting blown up to death while heavily intoxicated.
Yeah, I think they will stick to the goofyness because that's what 'worked' for them, plus every character from IV and dlcs, that appeared either in V or Online, was ridiculized and exagerated, to the point where it feels like they had an involution from the previous game
@Doppelganger I hope not. GTA's tone has varied drastically over the years since they were period pieces. GTA 3 was gritty and put them on the map (Edgy 2000's movie). Vice City wasn't goofy but it was badass and people loved it (80's action flick). San Andreas had a serious plot involving gang wars and police corruption and even a riot, but it has silly moments like Caligula's Heist and chasing OG Loc on Go Karts (90's hood movie). Etc. Even GTA V got heavy and serious at times (New 10's dramedy). I just hope VI keeps that up, but I don't know how the zeitgeist would work (2020 was bleak, but had some surreal stuff too.)
I think Jerry and Luis will appear. I get the vibe that Luis would have some reason to go to Vice after Liberty City, especially considering Tony went to LS. Roman needs to show up someday too, maybe he's expanding his cap business 10+ years later in Vice City while Niko runs the LC branch. I just wanna see some more characters from 4, I miss my boys 😢

Ive had the exact same fears for a while now. I feel like the new writers will fall down the millennial writing trend of other games like Saints row and borderlands 3/new tales of the borderlands. They will crank up the one liners and ironic sarcasm, ignoring any semblance of an intresting story. dont get me wrong, comedic elements are what gives gta games their charm, but they shouldn't pull a borderlands 3 and put funny one liners and quirky dialogue every 5 seconds, even during a main characters death.
I'm pretty sure it was written by the same writers, then they left in 2019 when the game was already in production, so should be good. Though this is two games ago and a minor character so I doubt he will make it to gta6

The one dude with Issac at the diamond deal held it the same way and was shot by Luis. I could see both Kenny and Jerry in but as a merchant like the Cashiers at ammu nation who always talks with Trevor sandy shores or the one that talks to Franklin in LS. RDR2’s epilogue also has Pearson as a merchant who you talk to a couple times. Hopefully Don percival and Kenny are the two antagonists through out GTA 6.

I’m so glad I found this video about this topic. If I walk into a gun/liquor store with a hint as to what happened with Jerry, it will just give me goosebumps. I’ve been thinking about this specific detail to the story ever since the setting to VI was confirmed. The diamonds detail to the story was always intriguing to me and hearing the radio broadcast and Internet cafe website mentioning vice city is almost like alarm bells going off. I would just get goosebumps, when I’m least expecting it, to go into a gunshop in the middle of nowhere and see Jerry running the store. I don’t see how there is an excuse to not at least have his son running the store with some dialogue lines about how his dad bought this place after he found some diamond’s in the trash in liberty city. These types of things really separate the good from the great. I know I’m a huge nerd and I really like this game IP. But how couldn’t you and I think I’m in the right place to make this comment.

While your logic about Jerry Kapowicz and how he could fit into the game is well-reasoned... This is also the same Rockstar that wouldn't even celebrate GTA IV's anniversary. I guarantee if you went around Rockstar's offices and asked the writers and producers about Jerry Kapowicz, most would go, "...Who?". That's because so many of the people that worked on GTA IV are no longer with Rockstar. Let alone the specific writers and producers that would care about continuity and lore. Yes, we got GTA IV characters in GTA V... They were also major or quite well-known characters for the most part (and were often under-utilized even at that). Jerry is a very, very minor character that you only really see at the end of the game and not many people know of him.

Your incredible at what you do. I just bought GTA V the other day after your video with Dwayne & Playboy X. When GTA V originally released I played it, but my gaming style was much different. I didn't explore, I didn't pay attention to the story & I didn't engage in the world around me. But since 2018, I have played RDR1, Bully, & now im starting GTA 4. Im starting to feel like 2008 was the year Rockstar was at its best. These games were beyond amazing & I believe they were far ahead of their time.

I' ve just finished GTA IV (literally today) and I have heard the news on the radio about this homeless veteran finding diamonds and his plans to have liqueur and guns store in Vice City. I was like "is this guy be mentioned in GTA VI. I believe there will not be a reset like between 3D universe and HD, especially when RDR from HD era and RDR2 share the story.
Of course I knew the diamonds were found by the guy but I haven't remembered the Vice City part.

There could be one legitimate reason why Jerry wouldn't directly appear in the game: most HD games take place in the year they came out (2008-2009 for GTA 4 and EFLC, 2013 for GTA 5), so I wouldn't be surprised, if GTA 6 took place in like... the next few years. Meaning, 15-20 years have passed since Jerry has found the diamond, plenty of time for the diamond's bad luck to catch up with him. By the time GTA 6's story begins, he could have gone bankrupt, got murdered or who knows. Yet there could be a child or good friend of him relevant to the story. I guess we'll see.

Knowing that packie has had such an amazing role with the main protagonists of 4th and 5th GTA if you pick him up as a crew member I'd like to see him more of a main character to play as so we could see his whole back story that lead up to him moving to Los Santos so it leaves the gaps from the 4th GTA covered up their are a few reasons why packie moved to Los Santos thats just my opinion about packie
If you notice in the side by side, Jerry actually holds the diamonds in his right hand, not his left. So maybe he could have "changed the fate" so instead he has good luck

Thus it is actually foreshadowing the opposite of the fate of the chef, when the diamonds were bad luck for the chef they will be good luck for Jerry

I like to believe the reason Jerry got good luck with the diamonds is the fact that his luck was already horrible and 2 he found it. Maybe something bad will happen in the future but it wouldn't be immediate as Jerry's intention isn't as bad as most of the people in Gta 4 and he is already down on his luck

Remember that gta 4 released 15 years ago. And remember that we still don't have gta 6 in 2023. I think that there is a possibility that he appears in the next gta game but there is also a option when rockstar forgets about him. Like who remembers this minor character from 2008 game? Today Rockstar employees are not the same that created gta 4 and even gta 5.
I fear there might be next to no story-wise connections to GTA IV in GTA VI. Mainly because like how you mention, virtually nobody is asking for it, the fanbase is pretty much entirely composed of new fans thanks to GTA V now. Most of the people who worked on GTA IV are gone from Rockstar by now, and I also strongly believe GTA IV is considered a "bad game" within Rockstar themselves. They just don't respect it the way it deserves, because of the insane amount of money GTA V and its goofy and craziness brought to them over the serious and grounded tone of IV. This was shown by the way they threated Johnny and The Lost, and the subsequent success of the game might have only exacerbated that feeling. But if they still were to honor the game somehow, I hope you are on the right and Jerry will be in Vice City, being some sort of modern Phil Cassidy, getting blown up to death while heavily intoxicated.
Yeah, I think they will stick to the goofyness because that's what 'worked' for them, plus every character from IV and dlcs, that appeared either in V or Online, was ridiculized and exagerated, to the point where it feels like they had an involution from the previous game
@Doppelganger I hope not. GTA's tone has varied drastically over the years since they were period pieces. GTA 3 was gritty and put them on the map (Edgy 2000's movie). Vice City wasn't goofy but it was badass and people loved it (80's action flick). San Andreas had a serious plot involving gang wars and police corruption and even a riot, but it has silly moments like Caligula's Heist and chasing OG Loc on Go Karts (90's hood movie). Etc. Even GTA V got heavy and serious at times (New 10's dramedy). I just hope VI keeps that up, but I don't know how the zeitgeist would work (2020 was bleak, but had some surreal stuff too.)
