    I'm blown away at the detail and time you've put into this project. I've been watching since just after you started and it's been fun and exciting to see the upgrades and enhancements you've made along the way. Thanks for the videos and great explanations of how you have done everything. Looking forward to the next video! 🙂👍

    The amount of dedication and pure passion for this project is amazing, and I've enjoyed seeing it progress over the years.
    Also I've finally got DCS (and bought the F/A-18C module) along with with a Thrustmaster T.16000M FCS HOTAS (to replace a crappy older stick/throttle combo which I rarely used), currently melting my brain trying to learn the Super Hornet lol.
    I don't even want to think about the A-10 and its complexity....

    i would probably double the thickness of the bracket, and print it in petg. much stronger, and honestly even at that thickiness would probably hold up to an accidental elbow or what have you. awesome work my man

    An idea in place of the shiny vinyl in the reflector: you should check out cheap acrylic silver mirror paint. I was skeptical of it at first, but my tests have shown me that if your surface is okay (3D printed layer lines disappear with a second coat), It's really reflective!

    If you ever need a hand with voltage regulation give em a hoi.
    Can point you at easy to use Ali / Ebay modules that would have driven those servo torches.

    Real nice additions there!
    As I understand it you've hardwired the lighting logic so consoles follow generator and battery switches?
    In the latest version of DCS-BIOS (DCS flight panels branch) we included the values for the actual lighting intensity (consoles, flood etc.) - so not just the knob position on the panel.
    If you use those values you can sync lighting 100% in software (nice way to handle unforeseen configurations, like engine out but switches on or other events that should shut the lights off/on)

      @thewarthogproject  3 роки тому +1

      Thanks mate! Legend! I needed to monitor if the electrical power bus was either on or off to correctly position my relays, rather then the actual levels/intensity of the backlighting. It is not using the gen and batt switch positions, but is actually using the off flag on the angle of attack indicator, so it will come on with aircraft or with ground power and if the bus gets broken/destroyed, it will shut off as well. Would be cool to get a true/false value added in DCS-BIOS for the A-10 electrical bus.

      @@thewarthogproject Yeah it'd be nice to have system values output directly like that. On the Hornet it got really bad, there we special gen tie conditions so I had to check even more instruments, warning lights and switch positions to figure out if the light should be on. Quite ridiculous, so we searched and found the new lighting parameters for both it and the Warthog. Much easier now.

    Your videos never cease to amaze me. If you are in lockdown I hope you're getting plenty of flight time in.
    One thing I noticed in the green light is how much the throttle stands out compared to the rest due to the different materials and finish. You ever thought about painting it?

    I am assuming the led's can also be used on a motorcycle as indicator lights . Pretty cool. I just stole the link mate . All I need is to find a amber sleeve or tube to slide over them . 🤔 . Keep on going with all of that good content 👌

    Your 3d printed parts look great! What filament and filler are you using? I never had shiny parts like yours :/

    • @thewarthogproject
      @thewarthogproject  3 роки тому +2

      I'm using PLA from an Australian company called 3Dfillies. After printing I give it a rough sand, then heavily spray it with some spray on car body filler. Then sand it with 600 grit, and spray paint it black. FDM printing will never give you perfect results, the key is in the finishing!

    Have you considered replacing the panels on the throttle since the blackness of it stands out compared to the rest of the panels?

    • @thewarthogproject
      @thewarthogproject  3 роки тому +1

      I have. I have also considered hacking up the throttle altogether and extending the handles to give it a longer more realistic throw. Won't be anytime soon, but it may happen in the future.

    RK you gave me the inspiration to build one of these myself to raise money for a uk veterans charity. However i am having some issues with the arduino programming if you could help with some sketches I would greatly appreciate it. I've sort of lost enthusiasm and need a boost to get going again.
