Not sure why you're looking at a studio other than price. Looking at all the stuff you have in your current apartment, this studio wouldn't begin to house all of your things. $4,000 a month is crazy.

The view off that 16th floor balcony gave ME anxiety just watching the video! I realize Boston prices are high, but that is an insane price for an apartment that small. The 19th floor apartment at least has bigger closets, but that's still not worth the price.

If your new job is north of Boston, look up in the North Shore of Boston. The coastal towns of Newburyport, Ipswich, Marblehead, Gloucester and Rockport are great places to live. They are all on the beach and have a train connecting them and to Boston. I grew up in Ipswich I love the North Shore much better than the South Shore. Commuting in and out of Boston is bad by car. If your job is not in Boston consider the Northshore. You will get much more for your money. Boston has New York city prices. And terrible traffic.

The balcony didn’t give me anxiety... until you let the door close behind you on your way out there😳
LOVE that you had the option of a self guided tour: buying or renting, I always had to devise a subtle way to wander away from the realtor/rep to see if I could see myself in the space without their pressure or near constant chatter/questions. I wish that was a standard option everywhere!

If you’re considering working north of BOS, don’t do the Seaport (great area but not if you will be working outside the city). There are plenty of places on the North Shore and a lot of communities will offer places w more charm & near a beach etc.

Working in an office 4 days a week won’t give you much time to enjoy the vibe. Maybe find something closer to work. Not sure where that is, but I live in the Boston area and know you can find a place for way less than 4 grand.

$4K is crazyyyy, i personally could never even if i could afford it. You could rent in the south shore and take the Hingham ferry into the city on the 4 days you have to go in.
Also, when you pointed that camera down on the balcony i had to hold on to something..woooo yup i felt the anxiety too!

The Holiday Market at Snowport is awesome! No fee! It’s free and has sooo many vendors - especially women and Black-owned businesses - that set up booths. First day was this past Fri (Nov 8) and goes until Dec 29.

Seaport is great but you are definitely paying a premium in that building for location. That is a fabulous location in Seaport, close to the T, but the only grocery store within walking distance is Trader Joe’s. It can take up to 1.5 hours for a one way driving commute to the North Shore during peak times.

Girl, I don't know why if you're considering a job in North Shore, you'd want to live in Seaport? I mean, the traffic alone...I HATE driving down there, it makes me so mad LOL. Also, Seaport has NYC Prices and NONE of the trademark Bostonian charm you would get in Back Bay. Do yourself a favor and get a cute little spot IN North Shore. Rockport is so cute and you'd get more bang for your buck and you wouldn't have to drive as far. If you want to stay urban, why not Somerville, Medford, Cambridge, or Arlington? The other side of the Charles is THE BEST. Also, I've lived in one of these luxury highrises and it was fun at first but in the end, I hated it. It's SO many people. Also...that price is INSANE. LOL
As a professional home organizer, I've helped many people living in these types of apartments, and they are NOT built for people, IMO. You notice it had only ONE drawer in the kitchen? That is not uncommon. You do have a lot of items and unless you are prepared to live much more minimally, I think you need to pass that place by! I love these videos though! They are fun! :)

I need to look in all of those places before I decide. Thanks for the suggestions! It will definitely be a big change and I need to do a lot of downsizing for sure. I have lived in very small spaces in the past. It seems like when you have a little bit more space your stuff seems to multiply, at least that’s what’s happened to me! 😂

Congratulations on the new job if you take it. You have so much stuff, your 1 bedroom apartment is already crammed with too much there is no way you can downsize to a studio. Just stay put and fulfill your lease, In the meantime try getting rid of stuff so when your lease is up you can move north and have less. Living with less is so freeing.

All depends if you take the job. If you do, most practical plan is to live close to work on the beautiful north shore . Since u have to go into the office 4x a week, Boston’s rents are too high and u would spend too much of your life commuting

Wow $3495 a month 🙀 That would pay for a monthly mrtg on a $550,000 house! Of course you probably could not get a home in Boston for $550k
I live in Florida, it’s interesting seeing the cost of things in other states.
My son was renting an apartment in San Fran for $4k but it was in bedroom loft apartment much bigger than that.

Seaport’s soooooo nice. I thought the apts were okay, but only if you were working right there. You’ll have to consider some places on the North Shore. (I’ve been up here 35 years, & it’s pretty good. Living in or around the town u’ll b working in would make the most financial sense IMHO.

Think about one bedroom with a den area or maybe if you're willing to sign a longer lease they might give you a discount. Also, I think you really need to consider getting rid of some more things or seeing if the apt offers a storage space. I really like your vlogs and you seem to have a really sweet spirit.

I used to drive afoul hours a day five times a week and I hated it especially winter I would save my time up if I neeed to take off for bad weather . One time a winter storm hit while I was at it took me almost 9 hours to get home it was freezing rain sleet and snow in the northeast USA .. so glad I am no longer at that job Yay if you can afford and apartment close to work great .. good luck as thanks for sharing .. I hope the new job is way more money if you are willing to move for it …that’s just my opinion ..

The quality of apartment fixtures/cabinets are not inline with expectations for the area OR rent. Threre is also lack of storage which is a no go. I am not entranced enough to live in Seaport and pay crazy rent for cheap looking showers/fixtures/cabinets/lack of storage.

Dang, no! I paid $1000 a month for my mortgage. There’s no way I’m going to pay that for an apartment. I would definitely commute you have a lot of items in your apartment and no judgment here because I am a maximalist😊 there has to be a different way to commute than 100% using your car. Depending where you are working, you can always find alternate roads. I live in Western MA and I haven’t been in Boston for a while, but it seems like the place you’re at now is perfect for you. There are some apts near Commercial street at the seaport close to a Starbucks. Not high rise. I wish I had written the number down or taken a pic when I saw the lease sign and phone number. Only drawback would probably be residential street parking…especially in winter. I believe you prefer garage parking. I’m with you on that.

Magnolia Pearl of Apartments 🎉 I've lived in Boston my whole life. Seaport didn't exist 15 years ago 😂😂😂Exactly what I thought was going to happen.. 😢 1000% not worth it. It like instead of shopping at Target u shop Sax and Erewhon. I have on street parking even in snow emergencies.$500 parking $3500 for that suicide pad right. I nice place to visit not to live. Buy a 5 bedroom house 30 minutes outside Boston with a pool 2 car garage for 400,000. No rude ppl. Boston is the best if u know where to live and that isn't it.

WTH? That's wicked expensive for an apartment with a horrible view of the city. I am definitely not a city person. I need lots of trees and grass and green space. We live in S.E. Massachusetts and have two mortgages on our house that total $1800. a month and I thought that was ridiculous. God forbid if there was a fire living that high up. I don't mean to be negative but how can anyone afford that? You pay an arm and a leg but you don't get anything for it. You should just buy a house.

Why wouldn't you look north of Boston if you may be working there? I don't understand your thinking . 4000$ is insane for a studio. Parking too. You must have an incredible job. 3495$ is too much for such tiny spaces. Again I don't understand why you are looking here.

No way I’d pay 4000 per month.

I would not pay that amount for that apartment. Feels kind of cold, no personality, balcony too small to entertain, noisy.

Stay away from back bay. It’s on all the most dangerous areas list. Seaport is AMAZING.. my son works there everyday & it’s a beautiful area. Ps you are on the Logan airport track.

Forget it! Both of the studio apartments were too small , too bland and too EXPENSIVE. Move on! Find something that excites you.

Ludicrous rent for a not particularly impressive apartment. Very cheaply put together & poorly planned.
You job is 3 hours north?
Move much closer to yr job, esp considering a winter commute.
A winter commute is no small thing.
Can't believe anyone would find those apartments acceptable
